I've been using paiste 2002 cymbals for over 20 yrs. No other cymbal sounds as good as them. I also use, 505 green label sound edge hats, alpha sound edge hats, alpha swiss cymbals, and paiste Twenty china's. My favourite cymbal though is my 20" 2002 ride cymbal. Truly great cymbals.

Gary The Great!! One of my all time favourite drummers and musicians! I was really happy when he found his way to Paiste. I think the company´s cymbals has a lot more interesting characters than Zildjians (not to say the Zild´s are bad cymbals or anywhing), and I think it really suits Gary´s creative voice spot on. Yes, I am surprised over seeing him using a Rude hi-hat in this context, but my oh my, it really do work! Also very interesting hearing him play the all-metal Paiste alloy-kit (which I assume it is...?), not to mention coated heads. Great drummer and great cymbal company!😀🥁👏

Very weird EQ on this video. I say this respectfully to try to help. I have noticed this on several videos recorded in this room. There seems to be an overabundance of high mids, and low mids are completely swept. It just doesn't sound great. You can really tell something is off by the snare sound that seems to be lacking body on all of these videos. Feel free to delete this comment, but maybe the monitors you're mixing though are coloring the sound or something? I know these cymbals sound much better than they sound in this video.

Maybe it’s the kit made of heavy bronze shells - I’m sure the frequencies on those are crazy compared to a standard ply wood kit - that’s why loud players love heavy bell brass / bronze / steel snare drums. You can always reduce frequencies with muffling but you can’t really add them to a drum outside of what it is sonically capable of

That's the general idea; unlathed, thick b20 cymbals with huge bells. The hats seem to be an exception due to their super light weight (in the 800/1100g ballpark from samples I've seen).
correction: b8 bronze not b20, as mentioned below

I didn't like the hats. Way Too Shrill. Like with Zero 'Smooth Over' Just Pure 'Cut'. And I'm a Heavy Music Player. They actually overpowered the volume of the other cymbals. For Myself? I'd use devices like those for loud splashes as a sound color/ orchestral thing inside of things. Not as a main axe. Too much cut not enough body.
