- I love Spreadsheets, and making good resources for the community. Here's why there's no "real" video this week.
Check out the working previous calculator here: docs.google.co...

One cool benefit of having a calculator like this, is that it makes it really clear what the "highest damage potencial" build is. Just build something that has every avaliable option in the calculator!
Yeah it helps for sure, that's why I want it to be as useful as possible.
MAAAAATTTTHHHHSSSS!
@@JottoHearthStone the 2d8 help die can't hurt me. I have control over them now.
For designers, I can see how this would be valuable.
For me.. well.. Don't tempt me, Claudio. I dare not take it. Not even to keep it safe. Understand Mr Wilde, I would use this Math from a desire to do good. But through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine.
@@CanticleofRestlessness27 accept the dark gift, allow the power through flow through you
Edit: I forgot to mention how much I love this idea. I'm working really hard on optimizing my builds before I help my party with character creation.
Have you played with adding a base damage modification for weapon style, ancestry, and class features?
Some class and ancestry features also give advantage, should we use the current advantage system? I have created some scenarios where I've got 4x advantage when factoring in multiple conditions.
@@an_impatientGM check out my new video. The full calculor is released
this made me better at using backend cells tysm
@@SuiKabui last calculator was a lot of if() this calculator is a lot of index(match())
@@claudio_wild i love index match so much
This video makes me feel like I'm good at math
@@chefskips thats the best part. You don't even really have to be good at math to use the calculator
Since Impact and Bear stance are there, but Rage isnt, i assume passive increases to damage (Such as Rage) are to be "pre-calculated" into base damage, is that right?
Yes, since rage always adds 1 damage it is counted as additional base damage. The same is true for power attack, Rogue's cheap shop etc.
I haven’t ever used a damage calculator before, so I’m probably missing something, but what are some practical uses for a calculator like this? I mean, I get that you can see your average damage and maximum per round. But what can you do with that information? Can it affect choices you make during actual play? Or is for creating a baseline DPR when theory crafting different builds? This sort of stuff, would be really cool as a follow up video. Great work though and keep the DC20 content coming. Huge fan of your work
@@Knucklebone.of.Fickle.Fortune well there are plenty of use cases but there are two main ones
1) you can use this to see the expected output of some option, this can be used when making homebrew or trying to balance the game (like a dev would)
2) I think what most people would use this for is damage comparison. I can compare two different types of attacks. Like less damage with advantage vs more damage without advantage. This can be useful both when creating your character but also to decide what action(s) to take in combat
Is there a version of this that would be saving throws? Also maybe adding an option if you mix spells with physical attacks like a gish and see if its always better.
@@simeonsnow6742 saving throws exist as part of a contested roll calculator i have linked in the description of my grapple video. Since the math is the same for contested saves as contested skill checks. It just doesn't have help dice
@@simeonsnow6742 Also mixing attacks and spells is already supported. The attacks mentioned can be either spell attacks or martial attacks. Only thing missing is stuff like half damage on miss which I'm adding to the new one
Would it be worth it to add vulnerable?
I need to think through this more thoroughly but I believe since vulnerable always adds 1 it is the same as increasing base damage, but I suppose not in the cast of half on miss. I will definitely consider this, good idea!
