Is easy if you know what to do. Thanks for the tips. One more tip is if you aren't loading from the FrSky site you need to load the companion to download the bin file for you. I got stuck on that for a few minutes.
Don’t mean to be flooding with comments but also; My controller turns off if I accidentally turn the left battery cap even a fraction of a hair counterclockwise. I had to secure it with electrical tape every time I charge the batteries as Iv had it turn off mid flight twice already.
Albert Kim thanks for the reply! I did actually try that, but was afraid of stretching it too far.. I’ll give it another tug next time I take them out and see if I can’t get it to contact better. Thanks again!
Hey Al, can you use the multi-protocol 4-n-1 module in this TX? I have arthritis in my hands, which is getting worse, had to switch from my X9D to the QX7 because of it late last year. I held off on this TX, because of the battery situation on it, but I am still very interested.
The pin outs are the same but obviously a JR module won't fit without some kind of adapter. I haven't tried the one I have yet but I think it will work. Also, there is a mini 4-in-1 module coming soon... check it out here - bit.ly/2KtVEfR
Frank Barajas. Arthritis sucks!!! I got rumitod arthritis in my left knee when i was 9 year's old and now its in my left arm!!! It sucks!!! Hope its not to swollen and you get some flying in!!! It just stoped raining and its so muggy im not even going to fly today!!! I love my Qx7. But did want a xd9 just cost to much compared to the Qx7!!!!
Hey Drone man - Oh wow, I can't even begin to imagine having it in your shoulder, sleeping might not be much fun, let alone holding up a TX. Unfortunately, yeah, I got it kind of bad too. I have it in my knees, which is bad enough but to make matters worse I hyperextended my left knee on July 3rd. Kind of shot my summer. Went to the doc last Friday and he says my knee has developed a bone spur now. Oh great! Anyway, it just means I got another month or more of keeping any walking/standing to a minimum. *On the plus side one of my dogs is learning to fetch my tiny whoops, although the doggy slime factor can be an issue...just saying.* By the way, yes, I really loved my X9D but this QX7 is really nice. I especially love upgrading the firmware on receivers using the QX7, no muss, no fuss, just plug it in on the bottom and you're good as done. With the X9D you have to remove the module and then use the pins in back leaving it exposed while you are updating so it's easy to bend them. Other than that I don't find I miss anything between the two of them.
Frank Barajas I'm sorry to hear that, dude. Hope you can get better. 😕 You too, DRONE review man of all drones! I have my problems too, so I can imagine how that should be. 😕
Thanks for this! It helps me a lot.. I’ve been using it stock since I got it. I also wondered about models erasing and see you answered that below. My other question is what to do with the rest of the files on the SD card? Just leave it in there now forever with the files on it? And how do you activate the sounds and voice telling you timers and voltage and things? Thanks for the awesome video, I hope you do more walk throughs with this transmitter, as it’s my first frsky, I don’t know how to do all the things most people have learned before, and the old videos don’t help much because the tx’s are different. 🍻🍻
Unrelated but kind of related, I also can’t get RSSI working on the xm+. Videos show it just working on channel 16 but mine isn’t for some reason. The RXSR works perfectly though.
helpful but this all needs an update as I cannot find the firmware, OpenTx wants me to only update using Companion, but Companion fails to flash every time! Can't find the files to do it using sd card
On the back of the radio there’s some screw holes, and in certain ones there are set screws that allow tension and return adjustments, just don’t lose the set screws!!! Very hard to find replacements. You’ll take the longer one out of the side that you use for throttle. I’m sure you can find a better description on UA-cam tutorials ;) but there ya go. They all come new like that, set up neither mode, as they can be mode 1 or mode 2 that way :)
hey man im doing this right now and when i try to copy the updated files on to the other ones as you show it comes up asking if i should replace or merge?
when i try to copy the updated sd card contents into the sd contents folder it says there are 260 files with the same name. do i just replace those? i would have loved to see you actually do the update so i could be sure at each step that i'm doing it right.
Yes you should save then delete everything in your card yourself. Then after putting on the new downloaded files copy back on your SD card the 4 of the old files you saved : Eeprom, models, log and screenshots
Hi Albert I followed your tutorial, changed 2 micro SD cards, tried from MAC, tried from Windows but the radio tells me that the SD folder is empty. Has anything changed to date?
I had no idea what firmware to choose and was winging it on my own but this really helped. Way easier than open tx companion!

Thanks for sharing bro. just updated to 2.3.9 latest fw
I brought my x lite used. Is the Bootloader-2.3.9 the latest update?
Nice and easy, Albert! Great work! 😀
This is a really cool looking remote! But i really like my Qx7!!
COOL POST!!
Worked like a champ. Thanks so much.
you got 3 files when downloading the sd card files, i got 2?
Simplest is best. I also like this method as it works easily on a Mac:)

check the spring in the cap... it may need to be stretched out a little...

The XM+ needs a firmware upgrade with the RSSI mod to get that to work. Download at the FrSky website.
Albert Kim thank you! That gives me a place to start! I’ll look more into that now 🍻🍻

I got 2 Xlites about a month ago and they both came with the new firmware installed??? Easy enough to check the version though.
Mine came with older firmware.
How do I know if I have the newer firmware
Just got mine today
Really helpful, thanks!
Is it possible to update the firmware on taranis x9d plus the same procedure
I don't remember if it will work the same way or not. Check other videos on the X9D for the exact procedure.
Can i do this set up using my mobile phone? Dont have a laptop.
I don't think so.
@@AlbertKimTV i have a Samsung note 9, i downloaded the content i have a new sd in. trying to figure out how you Configured the set up
I did everything on my PC, not my phone.
Hello I would like you to do the text of the excelvan 2400kv engines
great stuff, but how did you get the left stick to stay down, mine stays in the middle position when I let go.

Yes, just overwrite with the new files. I think most of them are just folders.
thanks man. my first frsky, really didn't want to screw something up before getting to use it lol.
Noob question! Does doing this erase your saved models? Is there a back up u should do before?
I think it does delete everything so you should backup to the SD card. I think there are tutorials on this already on UA-cam.
Nice to know this now.
Yes you should save then delete everything in your card yourself. Then after putting on the new downloaded files copy back on your SD card the 4 of the old files you saved : Eeprom, models, log and screenshots
This is so confusing what to do with the files
Hi Albert
I followed your tutorial, changed 2 micro SD cards, tried from MAC, tried from Windows but the radio tells me that the SD folder is empty.
Has anything changed to date?
Card needs to be formatted FAT or FAT32 and can't be too big. I recommend 4GB or smaller cards.
Thanks a lot!
Does this wipe anything that's bound to it?
It shouldn't unless you make a change to the model files.
@@AlbertKimTV you da real mvp
Is it possible to copy models from my X9D plus over to an X-lite? Then simply bind to the receivers?
I think you just need to copy them to microSD card and move the files over.
Thank baby freaking Jesus. I cant connect to my pc for so screwered up reason with impulseRC driver fixer. So I cant waot to get home and do this!!!!
slow down please click click click
