Something about a 7.3 powerstroke towing, its just beautiful!
sure do wish they would bring back the manual transmission.
I've got a 7.3 6 speed and I'd love to upgrade but seems the only newer option is 6blows with 6 speed.
Baily Crockett 6.4 came in 6 speed
@@aleshireryan44 never seen one, I'll have to keep an eye out now!
Baily Crockett ua-cam.com/video/L4qsYGztnxU/v-deo.html
@@aleshireryan44 6.4 is worse then a 6.0. 6.4 it’s really a bad engine
Love an old school pull!
Nice truck. I have a 1995 f350 dump truck with the 7.3 and 44,000 original miles.
Tbone Pickens thank you. Nice that is a rare find!
Now thats a truck. Best diesel engine in a pickup. I like 5.9s too but they just dont lug as good and dont hav the hold back on the hills.
Brandon Weader I have a 5.9 12 valve also and love them both. It would definitely be a hard choice if I had to choose between the two of them. Both are very good engines
@@hoganexcavation1700 yea they both have there perks..5.9s start and go while a 7.3 is very cold blooded..power and durability is great in both of these awsome engines..dont care for them durajokes though. Far as power they out perform but just dont last.
Yes sir when it’s cold enough and not plugged in the 7.3 will keep cranking and cranking before finally starting. The 5.9 will start quite a bit easier but I love them both. Not the biggest fan of the dmax’s either just because I don’t know as much about them and haven’t really been around them much. I’m not opposed to the idea of having one but don’t think I would pick it over a ford or a Cummins
@@hoganexcavation1700 yea i wanted a duramax but knew alot of people that had them and had problems with them..but for power they are probably number one. The injecters dont last and the motors usually need rebuilt after 300.000 compaired to the cummins and 7.3 getting sometimes over a million miles like a real rig motor. But duramax is definitely better than having a gaser if your planning on doing alot heavy hauling..got to love that true Allison transmission.
Brandon Weader that’s very true. They say they are a lot more expensive to work on also. I wouldn’t mind trying one because of the Allison if I knew I wouldn’t have to replace injectors or anything else
beautiful and powerful trucks.
Just BEAUTIFUL
Manny Marquez thank you
the ford f 250 7.3 best truck you can buy for the time straight pipe sounds good on the older trucks not so much on the newer
DomLimited yes sir
One of the truest statements ever said. Newer 32 valve diesels don't sound good at all. Or common rail Cummins
My setup also weighs around 18k, I pull it with a Ford med duty cabover from the 70's that I put a 12 valve and 6 speed Eaton in prob can't see but it's in my profile pic. Also pull it often with my 6.0 Chev which does surprisingly well. Love those 7.3's though.
Turbo 2 that is an awesome rig man!
Nice! I tow a Komatsu PC100 excavator with my 2000 7.3. Just rolled over 400K, and still pulls hard.
Jeremy Benoit it’s awesome hearing of high mileage ones still working hard!
@Henry Oliver I would, but i traded the old 7.3 in on a 6.7 stroke. I'll have a video of me pulling it when i move it next time.
@@DavinCurry😳...why would you get rid of a 7.3 for a 6.7😢
When I drove diesels (my last one was 6 years ago) I drove nothing but 5.9 cummins. Pulled great and had plenty of power. I love cummins hate dodge trucks. I've always wanted a duramax but they worry me especially the new ones. But I wouldnt mind a older 7.3 like this but I've always heard they lack power and pulling power stock. And I'm chevy guy so I can bring myself to own a ford lol. But they do sound good straight piped
Tyler Tucker I’m with you on that. I’ve had several Cummins and ford diesel trucks and have had good luck with both. I’ve never messed with a duramax either so I really can’t speak on them but I do like them. Stock they are kind of sluggish but this one had a few things done. It pulled about equal as far as power in comparison to my stock 07 5.9 Cummins
Is that stock suspension? Just curious. I have a 2000 f250 with a 7.3 and a zf6 and was wondering if I needed to upgrade suspension to tow that much?
Is this truck a cab and chassis or how did you swap the f450 springs
I seen some good pieces of land 👀👀👀👀👀
I just bought a 2000 f-250 super duty 7.3 6speed with 122k miles two owner truck in almost mint condition
nice
Sounds like a mini Scania.
I still have my 2000 F350 4wd drw powerstroke it's a 6 speed the body is getting bad . I bought a 6.7 powerstroke diesel I was really surprised by the pulling power and torque
How did you do 450 spring in the rear? Are they wider than OE? And are you running 315’s on stock wheel?
Joel Gardner they were put on the truck by the previous owner. Yes they are wider and at the time if this video yes 315s on stocks
What setup do you have? Aftermarket injectors or turbo? She pulls real healthy!
6.0strokin yes sir not sure on injector size but bigger than stock. Turbo 66/88
Love this! I have a 94.5 f250 powerstroke.
backwoodsriders thanks man! And nice!
SouthernKyCoalRoller You think a stock truck could pull this much weight or less semi regularly across the country?
backwoodsriders yeah I don’t think it would have a problem. If you are pulling on mostly flat/ rolling ground I think it would do fine. Through mountains may be a little tougher but I’m sure it still could. I also have a 12 valve Cummins that is stock other than exhaust and it pulls 20,000lbs regularly without a problem. I actually just took this 7.3 on a 700 mile round trip to GA and back pulling this trailer loaded with a skid steer on the way back and it did great. Around 15,000lb load
Sounds like a class 8 V8 (scania or cat 3408)
Jay Smith I agree under load it sounds a lot like a 3408 especially
In the beginning, did u start in 1st gear or the granny gear?
Army of One36 that was granny in the very beginning
👍🏻
Sounds like my truck... How does the dual disk work towing? I didn’t get it because South Bend didn’t recommend it for towing but their 925 ftlb doesn’t seem to like all the power.
Parker Fetters I absolutely love it. Once you tow with a dual disk you won’t go back. No slipping and really good firm feeling shifts when you let the clutch out. Only complaint would be taking off but once you get used to it it’s not bad. The dual disks are either in or out so if your not giving it enough throttle taking off while loaded it’s easier to kill it compared to a single disk
SouthernKyCoalRoller Ok, that’s awesome to hear. In low with 4.10 rear gears killing it isn’t a real problem even with the heaviest loads (about 28k) that I have hauled. I get a bit of slippage with this clutch and that is what concerns me about it. Even though I only have about 10k miles on it right now, I don’t know how it will last. It actually slips more when the truck is empty and I have the tuner cranked up. I haven’t dynoed the truck but others with the gtp38r and 180/30 injectors are reporting between 450 and 500 so I may well just be pushing the limits of the clutch. Thanks a ton for the reply.
Parker Fetters no problem at all. I think if you upgrade to a dual disk you will love it. Funny story on what made us upgrade to it in this truck. I was actually pulling this exact load and was in some loose rock in 4 wheel drive trying to take off and it kept spinning. Kept having to give it a lot of fuel and let the clutch out slow to take off. Long story short the truck was spinning all 4 tires pulling the load out for about 50ft and then died. Ended up melting the old single disk clutch to the flywheel. Now I feel like with the dual disk I could have done the exact same thing without even straining it.
And I also have 3.73 gears in this truck so with 4.10’s I believe you will be fine
SouthernKyCoalRoller 3.73 with a 6 speed seems like a good match right? I’m building an F-350 out of an f-250 that had 4.10s the truck was a 5 speed though and on the highway it’d be at 2700 rpm at 75-80mph. It’s a 97 so I don’t know how difficult it’d be to put a zf6 in it.
Beautiful country. What area?
Daniel Warren thank you. Southern Kentucky
SouthernKyCoalRoller always love going through there in my travels. I’m from South Carolina. One beautiful state to another. Love that setup. Looking for me a one ton 7.3
Daniel Warren yes sir! Thank you. They are very good trucks.
North east Texas ?
Southern Kentucky
I have a international 4700 with 7.3 5 speed wont pull worth a crap wonder y . Only 200k miles runs great
Nick Kirkland international 7.3 (t444e) made less horsepower, some models made more torque then the 7.3 powerstroke. due to being in a commercial truck and a different pcm. I believe it made around 175hp and 460ft-lbs for the commercial trucks with a lower gvwr but higher end t444e’s made up to 230hp and 620 torque in higher gvwr trucks. and some of those international trucks with that motor had a gvwr of up to 65,000lbs. And I’m not sure what international used for gearing in their transmissions and differentials, and because international trucks like the 4700 weigh more then a pickup truck 7.3. It won’t pull as well
Where is this ??
Kenny Ipina Auburn, Ky
Hogan Excavation right below in Nashville, Tennessee!!!
Kenny Ipina that’s awesome. I’m only about 60 miles north of Nashville
So ur telling me there a difference in a 6.6 duramax and the 7.3?? I dont think so
There is the 7.3l powerstroke is twice the motor maybe not power wise but in Reliability it is
You dont see Duramax working like this because of how expensive they are compared to everything else
If you’re doing excavation you probably have a dump truck. So why put a pickup through this kind of abuse? Asking out of genuine ignorance
