Feel better soon my dude. Self care is a priority, don’t feel guilty! Also I look forward to these videos all the time, you helped me learn what I needed to get into scrapping too.
Mate I'm 62 but feel 82 because I didn't pay attention to all the injuries when I was 32 take care of yourself or someone else will have to take care of you.
Great video. Stay safe. I have started a small UA-cam channel as well on tips and tricks when I scrap. I did one on the easiest way I've found to take those tires off of those rims. If it interests you. Granted, I don't have as many videos as you. lol. I just started a month or 2 ago. Would love some input on how I can do things better. Happy scrapping. Thanks for putting your videos out there.I've learned a lot
Don't be daft Thub, you need to take care of yourself out there - you did the right thing imho. You are an experienced scrapper and it just shows you can still come a cropper dumpster diving. Thx for the video :)
😀😃 got goosebumps reading your endearing comment. A man saying that words to a man is very strange. Honestly. ",Yer silly my thub. Yer need to take care of yeself out there my dearest thub". Oh my God.
@@Rasputin-p4e wtaf are you going on about? If you have nothing constructive to add other than puerile 12 year old gibberish then please feel free to do one.
I've been there. The cut did look bad in was anxious when you were pulling hard on the glass. I cut myself, pulling glass on my finger, and had to have stitches. I'm so glad it wasn't as bad as it could have gotten.
Hate hand cuts like that and had a bit of a delay myself. Was suppose to paint a window today but had a bad reaction to a cleansing supp i tried, so taking it easy for now.
Luv your snow scrapping episodes. Where I live in Australia we don't get snow. So look forward to the icy cold scenery. Just wondering how you get rid of all your plastic waste etc
Spent my whole adult career as a pharmacist.....saw a lot of people try to push through or tough guy it out.....and then a gnarly infection shows up....a lot more expensive than taking care of yourself.
Get you a pair of the Milwaukee A 5 cut level gloves. The big hardware chains that sell Milwaukee sell those gloves. They're about the same price as the gloves you have but they are much more resistant to those types of cuts. And they last a really long time too. Looking at them, you'll say no, they won't last a long time , but I wear mine a lot scrapping and they keep lasting.
I understand the need not to make noise smashing glass but a hammer was called for don't worry you're not alone I've learnt the same lesson the hard way too
Aug we was loading cast iron tub into my Sonoma , it slipped pinning right pinky and index finger against a boulder. Fractured pinky, aggravated the left tennis elbow as we tried getting tub away from fingers, then the hernia happened . 3 injuries at one shot lol. Surgery set for Jan 2 2025 for hernia . Happy new lmao
It's much faster to switch to a corded 4.5" grinder with cut off wheel to cut the beads instead of sawsall No need to cut across the tread just up the sidewall on both sides a bit and peel the tire off 1 of the disks should last long enough for at least 8 rims and they are about a dollar each Only takes about 2-3 minutes a wheel
Face it, you were d---- lucky to have not cut the tendon! Really, be safe out there. Time to act like other critters getting ready for winter--store up the chunks of wood, get all your cold-weather gear out, check when dumpsters are to be dumped!😊
19:40 I cringed when you were pulling jagged glass out of that aluminum window frame ...I knew it was coming and I was saying to myself: leave it-leave it- leave it! And then it happened. 😬😬😬 that's why you need to invest in Kevlar gloves, their cut proof.
the way you jump in and out of the dumpsters....is gonna get you in a few years...trust an old guy who thought he was invincible....knees or back you will regret it....cuts heal.
It’s for that reason that I don’t jump in dumpster with glass windows. Btw, the chunky steel you picked up in that alley appears to be old ladder jacks. A poor man’s scaffolding…an OSHA nightmare..
you DO KNOW that in those fluorescent lights, the little black boxes you cut the wire off of, the ballasts, are worth quite a bit of money.. they can go per piece or some places just do it by weight.. but it could be a few dollars per pound... I don't remember how much...but maybe $3 a piece .. I point this out because I threw about 200 of them in with the steel light housings because I didn't know.... that was about $600 down the drain 😢
noticed you said Scrapyard isn't going to like that thin metal grate. recon metal does not shred they bale instead of shred so you can bring them that kind of stuff including barbed wire and wire mattress frames that shredding yards wouldn't accept.
Good Job @thumbprint . Can you post videos of those " Can I help you " Kind / NOT ! people you see while hunting scrap . Thx & Good Luck with ' The Thing '
Damn! The second I saw you grabbing the glass i knew what was going to happen. Yowch And totally not a "wuss maneuver." Taking care of yourself is #1 and makes you a badass. The last thing you want to be doing is reaching into dumpsters with a gaping wound. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot, lol
To preface my answer, I think we can both agree that my method was flawed 😆 I’ve done plenty of windows this way in the past and found that it ends up cleaner and easier to pick the glass out in large sheets, otherwise I just end up sprinkling shards and fragments everywhere. This one was obviously a different type though, and next time I find a double-pane with rubber gasket center I will remember how it went this time lol. Smashing it all out then peeling the rubber separately is definitely the move with these
Bad cut! Did you wash it and doctor it up real good with home topical meds before the glue? If so, good job! Watch the color and pain level for signs of getting worse. 32 years in an Emergency room... have to say something you know!
It’s basically the alley culture around here, lots of people realize scrappers are cruising around and they place their metal bits out back for them. The city garbage will only take what is in the bins so anything left outside is assumed to be out there for free collection by anyone who wants it
Scrapping buyer for me a copper, can i order copper from you i am a Philippines to deliver sure buyer for me my name is Richard Mirafloris Dejito profile is wearing a white thisrt and black glasses i hope he gets notice thankyou for subscribe for me a UA-cam channel for you.
They were sympathetic because your day was “cut” short…good one!
We can be betrayed from our own knowledge, experience n get hurt
Glad ur cut is superficial
Ty for sharing
It is call : no pain no gain . Stay safe , have a good week-end !
When you said screw this and went to the hardware store, I thought you were going to buy a corded recipricating saw.
Feel better soon my dude. Self care is a priority, don’t feel guilty!

glad your finger isn’t too bad. Never underestimate a good pair of gloves
You gave blood to the scrap gods.....good job, All of us scrappers have given blood to the scrap gods more than once, don't feel bad. Feel honored.
Happy to see the subs tick over 130k
A cut is better than half a finger missing. A reminder for everyone to wear appropriate safety gear when doing things at home or work
Supper Happy your hand wasn't all that bad.. GLAD YOU'RE OKAY!!! - SEE YOU NEXT WEEK BRO!!
That was a good slice on the digit, Thub. So glad you had those gloves on!

So well said. I'm right beside you man.
Not gonna lie. When you looked into the glass filled dumpster the line "dumb ways to die" went through my head.
You are a very spectacular person, I love your channel 👍👍👍
Cheers for another scrap run video, hope the finger heals quick.
Enjoying your videos ever since your old how to scrap a tv, keep it up..
Fun, finding, " treasures."
I love you, Thub! Your videos make me so happy! xxx
Ouch! Good luck and quick recovery!

Awesome video, stay safe my friend. Hope your finger gets better soon.
I cut the side walls with a large bread knife. It's alot faster than my corded Sawzall.

God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸🇨🇦✌🏼😎
🤣👍 I’m glad your coach wasn’t in the truck today!
@@daleh645 LOL. There's iron in blood so all he really did was add some value to his load today!
I'd call him coach Tetanus.
So sorry you got hurt, Thubbie. Gonna have to do something about that!
YAY it's that time again 😊
Well, step to it, kiddo!!!!
And that's a G.D. order, lol!!!

Oh my GOD that’s quite the combo!!! I’m sorry to hear that, that’s a really bad day 😕

Only takes about 2-3 minutes a wheel
I was literally yelling at the screen: "No! It's not worth it! You're going to cut yourself!" Sorry, might have jinxed you there.
Face it, you were d---- lucky to have not cut the tendon! Really, be safe out there. Time to act like other critters getting ready for winter--store up the chunks of wood, get all your cold-weather gear out, check when dumpsters are to be dumped!😊
Those tools in that bin was for a milling machine, those can be expansive
will we be seeing winter bottle picking video? those are my favorite!
I wish I could find NO1 wire in lights. I always find NO2 in there, it's never a thicker wire, just a thinner solid one.
Inquire about that stuff. I bet they would say yes
19:40 I cringed when you were pulling jagged glass out of that aluminum window frame ...I knew it was coming and I was saying to myself:

you could sell those white aluminum railing.
It’s for that reason that I don’t jump in dumpster with glass windows. Btw, the chunky steel you picked up in that alley appears to be old ladder jacks. A poor man’s scaffolding…an OSHA nightmare..
Oh man, there's no way that frame was worth that effort
if your cutting tyres off go thru the rim an inch before the tyre then the tyre . same other side and pop the tyre off saves blade and time bud
you DO KNOW that in those fluorescent lights, the little black boxes you cut the wire off of, the ballasts, are worth quite a bit of money.. they can go per piece or some places just do it by weight.. but it could be a few dollars per pound... I don't remember how much...but maybe $3 a piece ..

Wood saw blade round both tyre walls, pull off the cut tyre then angle grind through the bead part of the tyre. Takes 3 mins a tyre. Thank me later 👍
Make sure you check bikes to see if they're aluminum
noticed you said Scrapyard isn't going to like that thin metal grate. recon metal does not shred they bale instead of shred so you can bring them that kind of stuff including barbed wire and wire mattress frames that shredding yards wouldn't accept.
Subtitle: Thub learns not to play with broken glass.
I’ve learnt nothing!! 🤣
Cheap Superglue from the Dollar Store or Dollar Tree is effective Stitching..
That’s exactly what I used! 😊 with a little square of toilet paper as a bridge, so as not to get too much glue in the wound itself
For what you probs get for those alloy wheels from scrappy and the tyres look legal might of been better selling them on market place
Good Job @thumbprint . Can you post videos of those " Can I help you " Kind / NOT ! people you see while hunting scrap . Thx & Good Luck with ' The Thing '
Since you went to the hardware store why not just buy a corded reciprocating saw.
pull it with a pliers
One dollar of aluminum and having to deal with all that glass
Take as is
Need to pick up a pack of level 5 cut resistant gloves from Harbor Freight. Leather isn't that great for cut resistance.
I was concerned for your eyes in that glass dumpster. Maybe your cut finger saved your eyes. Sometimes, a reason things happen as they do.
🤦♂️If it has glass, it's not worth it .👍 next time just leave it 🙃
Damn! The second I saw you grabbing the glass i knew what was going to happen. Yowch
And totally not a "wuss maneuver." Taking care of yourself is #1 and makes you a badass. The last thing you want to be doing is reaching into dumpsters with a gaping wound. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot, lol
Thank you!! I think prioritizing it will speed the healing process too, so that’s more valuable anyway
@thubprint exactly. Don't want that thing to open up while using power tools or anything
Why did you not take a hammer and smash all that glass first then use a screwdriver to pry the rubber, then pull the rubber?
To preface my answer, I think we can both agree that my method was flawed 😆
I’ve done plenty of windows this way in the past and found that it ends up cleaner and easier to pick the glass out in large sheets, otherwise I just end up sprinkling shards and fragments everywhere. ouchies
let's not play with glass :c don't like seeing that here..
Bad cut! Did you wash it and doctor it up real good with home topical meds before the glue? If so, good job! Watch the color and pain level for signs of getting worse. 32 years in an Emergency room... have to say something you know!
Well.. I washed it real good with soap 😆
Ye need some better gloves fella, like welding glove material but minus the long sleeve
Do all these people put their scrap on the side of the road because they know someone will pick it up or do they hope the garbage man will take itv
It’s basically the alley culture around here, lots of people realize scrappers are cruising around and they place their metal bits out back for them. The city garbage will only take what is in the bins so anything left outside is assumed to be out there for free collection by anyone who wants it
