This video brings back so many good memories for me. I graduated High School in May 1979. Soon afterwards, my Uncle bought a old Gulf Service/Gas Station. It had the exact same design as the one in this video. I worked at the Gulf station for 14 months and then shortly afterwards I joined the U.S. Air Force. The timeframe was May 1979 - November 1980. This was a very good time during my life. Thanks for sharing.
This is where some guy made a living and supported his family. In the 50’s & 60’s you didn’t go to the dealer these stations are where you took your car for service. And the owner would know all his clients by their first name ❗️🇺🇸
Should went up the steps, some quart cans of oil or some other collectibles in the storage area. Could’ve found something around the back of the building such as a sign or a fuel pump. Some owners dumped them around the back of the building.
At :22 next to the right of the restroom door is a modern hardwired telephone network interface box. Apparently this station had two phone lines going in to it. One line was probably for the gas station business and the other was probably for a payphone.
A time warp into the American past time...I resqude a 1955 inground lift ..out of an old place like u did this video in ...now I got a working car lift in my garage...pls slow down with your camera..it would be a great video..if u did..
Surprised you didn't mention where it was (or if it was along Rte66) and that you didn't look for paperwork of when it was last in business. I would say 1992 or before.
This was a good persons dream. Might have seen the time when an attendant walked out & asked you what fuel you needed, checked your oil, & cleaned your windshield & aired up a low tire if one was low. “Service oriented”was their motto & this guaranteed regular customers.interstate highways & local industry shutdowns or relocating probably dried up the economy in that area. Owners pass away & what was once a very alive location, those spirits have departed, and the site now only captures the imagination. It is like looking into another time. Dreams end.
Would be nice if people would be interested on purchasing the property and the old gas station needs to be torn down to make way for something better for travelers driving on that road.
There is "another" bathroom there because that is the way ALL gas stations were, up until the late 1970's. i.e., separate mens and womens, typically with refrigerated drinking fountain mounted outside on the wall between the two. Nowadays? Well, you know...
Hi, just wanted to say that's exactly my plan. I've been looking for the right abandoned service station for a few years now, saving money for it. I've decided this is how I want to live the rest of my life. Even I never finish it, it would still be worth it. Have you found yours yet?

All the Gulf gas stations had this layout. Same as my Dad's was in Northern Ohio.

It would be cool to restore this place and make a hobby shop!

Bathrooms were cleaner than some gas stations I've been in............
Probably smelled lots better too.
The creator acts surprised at the bathrooms. I used them many times back in the 70s and 80s.
Great Tour

Just remember kids. All those things you accept today as New and modern, will someday look like this, if they exist at all.

I want to find one like this and homestead it for my remaining years- the video's are tempting but never say where they are- why is that?
