If you’re only making a small amount you can buy some Japanese curry cubes, that look a bit like a bar of chocolate, they’re very handy to have & a quick search online will find a brand Japanese people use 😁 I’m about to go out for lunch and I’m really fancying this meal now 😂
It’s so interesting to see Japanese curry being made by non Japanese people. It’s an Indian dish that went to Britain and then came to Japan. My neighbor Indian/Nepali restaurant has the best curry I ever had. But the soup curry I ate in Hokkaido was amazing too! Food makes every culture blend and enrich! That’s amazing.

If you have no energy to make curry from the scratch, using Japanese curry cube will be a great choice! A bit of advice from me as Japanese, when you make curry udon with leftover curry, add some water and mentsuyu to make it more soupy and add some dashi flavour😊
I've tried one variety before, but honestly thought it quite bland. Maybe it's because I'm desi and used to fresh spices, but the premade cube stuff had zero aroma and very little flavour. I'd recommend you just mix up and store a few portions of the needed spices beforehand to use in a rush
@@raerohan4241 buy japanese curry powder and garam masala. add flour and butter in a hot pot and add the curry and masala. then let it cool and you have your own authentic curry roux. but usually store bought roux are very good. you might have bought from a bad brand. just using normal curry and masala is really bland.

Great recipe! Just tried it and I think the one thing it needs to be truly great is some acid to bring the sweetness from the onion, apples, and garlic in balance (I also ditched the sugar). Rice vinegar worked great!

It depends on your tastes. It might become overpowering depending on how many spices you've got in your curry. If you have more in the curry, sometimes less chicken seasonings work. It's all down to personal preference. I partially agree with you tbh. I tend to put southern fried chicken with mine, but that's just me.
For those of yall who don't know how to not burn a roux, just use a high temp oil instead of butter lol. I just figured someone might need this information.

The chicken cutlers are called "Milanesas" in my country Argentina. And we have tonnnns of other variations: we do them with other meats like cow or pig, or we also do them with eggplants for vegeterians too, and we use breadcrumbs or other things like oat flour to coat them. Some of them also have ham and cheese on top. We est them with smashed potatoes or pasta on the side, or french fries or salad. It's a distinguish dish in our gastronomy!! ❤❤❤

The biggest issue I have with chicken katsu is that the chicken itself is always super bland. No one ever spices it up to give it more flavor.
It depends on your tastes. It might become overpowering depending on how many spices you've got in your curry. If you have more in the curry, sometimes less chicken seasonings work. It's all down to personal preference.
