Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"!
3:35 uhhh, shop foreman, just had a couple blowouts up here - going to need a new front tire for the front loader, and a new pair of size 36 Hanes for me😅
Is the track having a cat scan?
Endings don't normally catch me, but that was "electrifying?". Enjoyed today's VR
End of Video was the Best in Thomasville, NC. Railfan touches the Electric Vehicle Charger and Acts like he took a Jolt of Electricity. Loved it. 😬👍
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in multiple locations, especially the tractors in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Heritage Units, railgrinder, ans so much more, @Virtual Railfan, I like them, thank you very much.
That fella had a shocking grab bag experience at 28:32 ! Another great video! Thanks again VRF.
Bet that that tire blowout startled the driver of the minivan...
Maybe even woke up Revie a bit earlier........
I think they both needed a change of underwear, it took a while for the loader operator to regain his faculties to lift the blade!
Probably I bet the mini van driver is like that scared the absolutely heck out of me
I honestly feel really bad for the mini van driver but I bet his reaction was priceless
Field Sobriety Test at 5:10...how much catnip have you had tonight? Ok, you're good to go, have a safe night.
I really love how this Stray cat just quietly stumbles upon the train tracks, I hopefully there was no oncoming freight trains ahead. That’s how (the cat) being used to be iconic logo on the Railroad like the Former Chessie System.🐱
Actually when he/she looked behind, they were correct in hearing a train in the distance. A train came 2 minutes later!
At 5:25 cat is thinking ,,,gee i miss the chessie system
Skimbleshanks, the railway cat!
I think that was a Manx...at least I couldn't see any sign of a tail. Just a cat out for a late-night stroll...
@@donnaj9964there is a tail there, the camera just can’t get it fully sharp due to the low light environment. You’ll see it.
@@pjotrtje0NL You're right--that low-light problem has happened to me before. Thanks!
05:21 “Is that a train?"
Excellent catches VR!! Keep em coming. There was one that was missed. 60T from yesterday morning (3-13) thru Horseshoe Curve at 733 am. Had the 8099 leading followed by a BNSF then a BNSF with 2 NS units on the rear
Thank you for bringing us this EXPLOSIVE footage!
I'm thinking thieves didn't like what they found in those loaded boxcars and left it opened.
It was probably full of educational materials.
Excellent! @@MangoHombre
@@MangoHombre😂😂😂
@@MangoHombre HAHA... they say if you wanna hide something put it in a book
The ending was quite shocking...very shocking!! The guy missed his calling, Lightning Flash Tester.
🤣
I still don't think it's possible to take bad footage at Horseshoe Curve (what made it in here was beautiful), but that Chattanooga sunset took the prize for sheer gorgeousness in this one. Wabash and First Responders engines, ravens in the fog at Skykomish--it had some great moments in addition to several amazing fallen flags (how could you even read that one yellow Texas Oklahoma & Eastern one?). I miss those glorious endings with music, but I know they're a lot of work. Anyway, thank you!
I would of jumped a mile if I was in that minivan.
It did sorta look as if it skittered three feet sideways! That was scary.
At 3:12 it sounded like a canon was fired
Betcha the driver needed to change his skivvies afterward, his ears are probably still ringing.
Good point
Nice sunset with Monongahela GE leading!🛤🚂
28:44 Nice Balance-Beam routine by Kitty!- oh wait… 😄
I love the guy on No. 3 waving the VRF banner at Ft. Madison then by the Amish men sitting at the Sightseer Lounge table while stopped at LaPlata. Keep in mind the Amish don’t watch TV or have a clue about VRF😀
And they don't like having their pictures taken, either. It's against their beliefs.
I bet there are some Amish folks that secretly watch VRF.
5:38 You missed the first Darwin. That makes 5 on this Grab Bag
At 25:40 those guys are going to the darwin famuly reunion
2:14 CN 8952 and 2:22 CN 100th Anniversary Unit
28:32 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 touch the thing
The real chessie system cat @5:15 😂
Cammo container? Where?
27:23
Does NS EVER wash their equipment!?!
Good to see the former Simpson 1212 switcher.
That cat committed a rules violation walking on the rail.
But he had 4 point contact
Super nice Video some good action cheers from Australia 🙏❤️💪👍🐝🦘🇦🇺🇺🇸
23:55 Amazing catch of my favorite p42 160
Good Lord Howdy that was loud when the tire blew! i mean the echo enhanced it but still Holy High Caliber Batman!
I'm always here to watch the trains on Virtual Railfan
Grab Bag and trains only.🇺🇲🤠🇺🇲

3:47. The force of that pop was so powerful it knocked the snow off of that house.
Great start with that lash-up at Chehalis🤩
At 4:40, what's with "CN 5643?" Did it miss an appointment in the paint shop, or did someone else buy it and has yet to put it in their colors?
The unit is one of many of CN's SD75I's built almost 30 years ago. It may have been rebuilt somewhere and was enroute back to home shops for finishing out and painting.
That’s a bold new paint scheme CN’s rolling out- rather minimalist. Can’t wait until the entire fleet’s repainted in this style😝
3:13 Jeez Sounds like a gunshot
The part with the cat on the rail was so cute :3 =3 X3
Seeing BNSF 2092 GP38-2 at Chehalis was good. Also, CN 5643 in Primer at Elkhart - is a good excuse not to finish repainting a Model Loco - if you can't be bothered that is. Finally, I get to find-out that it is Rainier Rail who are operating at Chehalis, with ex. NS 5082 GP38-2. Thanks for answering that one, VRF.
Riding inside the rear platform of that covered hopper is a no-no. I haven't been to Springfield, MA going on 25 years, since F40s still ruled up there.
*Nice Catches*
5:15, There's a cat on the tracks!
Is that a Canadian National SD75ACC at 4:44?
5:43 I saw a video about train accidents which showed a man and woman (not together) who thought it would be wise to cross in front of the stopped Amtrak train they had just gotten off of. As they trotted forward a high-speed train was approaching on the adjacent track. The man a step or two behind the woman was able to stop, but the video stopped just as she stepped in front of the train. She was not only a Darwin candidate she was a Darwin winner. Of course, one always feels for the train crew which has to be traumatized by the carnage, if they even knew what happened.
there's an uncensored version of the video where she's killed and knocked towards the camera
I've often thought that if I was the Engineer of a train passing a stopped AMTRAK, that when I got to the last car, my stomach would be in a knot and my heart rate high.
The incident in question in that video involved a Metra train on its BNSF line when the old BN E9 units were in their final months of service before being retired and replaced by newer Metra locomotives at the time in 1992. We’re very familiar with the location where it happpened
On March 9th, M372 had a RF&P hopper car on the old B&O mainline
What's the point of even having Heritage units if one isn't going to take care of them?
2:35 - Amish guys are wondering what in heck is going on.
Doors open? Car inspectors? We can't afford car inspectors!
If the tractor that blew the tire is a Caterpillar, than that was basically a CATastrophy
hello Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Virtual Railfan & Friends Randy
The loader operator even wrote his name into the Pavement with the corner of the blade. Have to come back with some cold patch 🥶 .
Springfield passengers were Vermonter North and South, and Lakeshore West.
Nice one
👍
Guess Chehalis is waiting for the derailment before they fix that frog
No one's talking about 10:27 with major 7 way train meet
3:13 First shockwave captured on a VRF camera?
3:12 it’s blue
Pretending to get zapped.....🤣
15:42 upper right, a pickup truck has an unfortunate turn of events
2:33 priceless, lol
Yeah, that was a classic, lol.
I've been watching Virtual Railroad for about a year. 9 times out of 10, there isn't an end o train device. Did railroads stop using them, or making them mandatory?
Anybody keeping count of all these Darwin candidates? There've already been quite afew and it's only March!
10:00 What did he dig out of the snow?
The chatters on the Revelstoke camera call a crude parking block, blocky.
@@joepeach997 And if Blocky comes out of the snow, Revy bear can't be too far behind!
Where’s the Darwin Candidate Icon at 5:37?
Still in my video editor, lol.
eek i cant imagine the cost of a new tire for that loader. and whats also funny is that it made some snow off one of the roofs fall off
25:19 - What reason to stop just beyond the road crossing and sit beyond the red stop.
Well, if he didn't listen to the Dispatcher he wouldn't have a job. And most of us have learned not to question a work order. A stopped train doesn't make money so they really don't want to ever stop them but at times they have to.
Doesn't each cheek count as a contact point?
I bet the people in the mini van got scared when the tire blew
It's OK, it was only flat at the bottom.
Is Amtrak really that bad, takes 5 engines to pull one small train.
M(E)OW @5:02
😵😵3:08
Please clean the camera lens in Chattanooga. That moth is clearly dead, and stuck.
But, but we bought the extended warranty on the moth!
It's all a matter of time until we see a Darwin candidate actually win the award.
24:35 you literally posted a guy who could lose his job for riding a shove the way he is. Not sure you guys always think things through when posting.
So the problem is with the VR curator, not with the bad behavior? Geez!
I meant tractor
I believe all East coast commuter trains shouldn't be on VR ugh and boring
Rail fans are becoming real pain fans
Goes to show how powerful a tire 🛞 blowout is
Some years back, a worker at a local tire shop was killed when a car tire blew due to a rim failure, so imagine how much more powerful that loader tire would be.
Especially that size tire--wow!
