    At last someone that has actually watched Darnold in the last 3 years!!! Remember also that Sam is only 27. Kirk was 30 when he arrived at the Vikes. Darnold was very efficient in the Ravens game, and the week 18 game vs the Rams. Sam actually had a very strong finish to the 2022 season, inheriting a 3-8 Panthers team from Baker, and finishing 4-2 and almost got the Panthers into the playoffs. Darnold had Brady and Evans pulling out record breaking performances to hold the Panthers out.

    In Darnolds' first 4 years in the NFL he started 50 games. In those games he was sacked 133 times, then add in how many times he was pressured. There are few starting NFL QB's that would do well in that situation. He will be just fine as QB #1 in Minnesota.

      Reminds me a bit of David Carr's doomed NFL experience with the Texans. The only difference is that at least Sam could run away from the Defenses and even make a play or two on the run so he wasn't ruined mentally like David was where HE was a human pinata.

      Lamar went to a tram with John Harbaugh as the head coach. A veteran coach that had won a Super Bowl. He had a great offensive line and a good defense. I don't remember the receivers he had, but he utilizes tight ends way more anyway and he had two good tight ends. His situation was a lot closer to Mahomes' situation than it was to Allen's

    I think that Sam Darnold has the ability to be a stable quarterback..and has a good scrambling ability a strong arm and the brain 🧠 to make things interesting.. he did look really good in the 49rs offensive scheme and he is going to have to learn the different ways to call koc's offense.. the 49rs and vikings offensive schemes are very similar a lot of motion.. different packages shotgun formation and now rpo.. and Jones and Akers will help take some weight off his shoulders as we need to be able to establish the run game and be more balanced than the previous two years.. we want to get Justin the ball and Addison but forcing it all the time is so predictable that I'm willing to bet that they are changing things around to become more 2 dimensional instead of 1

    By all accounts Sam Darnold seems like a good guy and a good teammate. However he is way too inconsistent. In his last year in college he had more turnovers than anyone else in the country. I beileve one of his first pass attempts his rookie year in the NFL resulted in a pic 6. There is no reason to think it will be any different now. McCarthy will be the starter in Minnesota sooner than later this season. Darnold is a back up and nothing more.

    • @Squannor
      @Squannor 22 дні тому +3

      I think it's safe to assume that Darnold's inconsistency is due to a lack of weapons and poor offensive lines throughout his career, rather than him as a player. And if we're going to bring up college days (which for Sam was 7 years ago) McCarthy threw for over 300 yds just once in his last season of college. In Sam's last season of college he threw for over 300 yds 8 times. Minnesota is a pass heavy offense, and to ask a rookie to effectively run an NFL caliber pass heavy offense when they were in a run heavy system in college is flat out unrealistic and unfair to the player's development. Let's not be impatient, best case Sam starts the whole year and JJ. starts next year.
