Great reaction. We Brits had a few advantages over the centuries. We got invaded a LOT before we formed up as a nation & got enslaved. But we learned new technology, techniques, social ideas, military ideas, & much more. Then in later centuries we have the advantage of being an island. So essentially have a moat around us. This also gave us a very strong navy. When we went further afield we played it sneaky. We turned up & essentially said,
"We like the stuff you grow/make. Deal with us & we'll make you richer than you ever thought. Or you could deal with that sneaky nation over there. But they'll just come in with guns & enslave your nation. You want to deal. Great! Let us set up a few ports here so we can all benefit. Hey that's a nice skill. Teach us that. You like how our people live? Well just follow our rules & you'll be there in no time. We then built up our allies & made them powers through trade. The Commonwealth is a great example of this. & if you threated nations allied to us or under our rule, we ALL came down on you like a meteor!
The british empire, really ended after world war one, but britain, would only grant them independance, provided, they had governments, and a democratic society, with freedoms, freedom to vote, freedom of speech, freedom of religeon, the right o peacful protest and assemble, what the free western world is built on today, although not perfect, then you got your independance, you need to have the same values, as we have has for a thousand years, which started with the magna carta as the blue print, and updated over the years
You have to remember this was over the course of centuries and many of these places were invaded as a result of wars. We didn't just have a shopping list of places to invade.

we kept gibralta, because its the gate way to the Mediterranean, which meant we control who goes in out through through the dtraights of gilbralta, which was a big help in world war 2, to allow the americans to come in and help, through africa and europe, as the germans had control of europe
even to day we control it, allowing the amricans and the british, to stand next to the israel and gaza strip confict
another little side note, my uncle until recently was the catholic bishop of gibralta
The romans French Dutch German Viking’s & many more invaded & slaughtered the British for thousands of years so we was ready to fight anyone 😅
& learned from them all the sneakiest tricks to conquer
We never had a big army only during ww1and ww2 the navy was massive
It was not the army, its because we had the best navy in the world,
as well as that mate, there are 23 countries, that have the union flag on their flag, even one of the america states, has the union flag, hawaii
12 of the 13 stripe on the american flag are 12 of the original colonies, as the tune to the american national anthem is a pub song from the UK
yet why are we not hated around the world, apart from comminist countries, russian and china

what you also have to understand, whether it was right or wrong we invaded, but places we colonised, and the british infulence, and the britsih language, nearlly all these country are super powers, US, australia, Newzealand, india, canada, all now english speaking, as well as african countries, who's second language is english, english education, because most of the world, benefited from british inventions, democracy, , the wold can comminicate, trade, make there countries better, the world safer with nato, started with US UK and france, now there is an alliance of 31 countries, Ukraine was nearlly ready to become part of europe and nato, thats why russia went in before they could, russia cant get any more land as its all nato now, unlike the germans in world war 2, if russian steps foot into one of the 32 nato countries, he has 31 nations to battel,

When britains talk about our colonies they talk about USA.

A lot of these shouldn't really be included. THe end of WW1 and WW2, as part of alliances that were put in place against former enemies such as Germany, anything that had been part of the Ottoman Empire, Japan at the end of WW2, The Gulf Wars of the 1990s. Minor part players in larger coalitions of many countries. Previous to those, yes, a lot of countries were inavaded but over the course of many years. The original video is a little misleading.
these are facts, but there is no context. Britain blockaded Africa and Brasil to abolish slavery, and occupied much of Europe in WW2 fighting the nazi regime. Do not accept "the facts" as truth.
