This is THE BEST tutorial for this song I’ve ever seen. Well done, sir!
Thanks Ben! ;)
Good call, Ben, sure great to have the sheet music. I'm so sick of tab vids. Why are musicians afraid of learning to read music?
Agreed!!
@@KavenGirouard you know by any chances rougly what scales were used in this solo? I am trying to get into country guitar soloing, but i just cannot figure out what scales do people use? This one has so much passing notes, it looks like chromatics half the time. If you could let me know, it would mean the world to me.
@@teofiloljubisavljevic7943 Yep! A lot is going on here! Kind of a mix of Mixolydian mode, major/minor pentatonic, blues scale... lots of passing notes. Makes it impossible to determine a specific scale!
My goodness your playing is beyond amazing. I’ve got nothing else to add. It’s just beyond amazing.
Thanks a lot Freddie!! :)
wow, such a cool solo. This is gonna take me forever. Thanks
Incredible solo!! Enjoy ;)
this guy is awesome..
;)
And no way was I that fluent. Just a great performance here. One super talented player Kaven.
🤠
Wow. Smokin'!!
Thanks Marc!
I'm getting there!! 😅
🔥🔥🔥
This solo is impressive at half tempo, and it’s just as enjoyable!
Unbelievable solo!!
Nice tone. That Matchless looks sweet.
Thanks Judd!! The Matchless is amazing! ;)
Hey Kaven, je croyais que les meilleures guitaristes country étaient a Nashville et ben non un gars de chez nous! Bravo
Haha ! Merci Mathieu !!
GREAT soloing and superb breaking down of it! This is just what I need to learn this bucket list solo. Thanks for posting it!❤
Thank you so much!! Enjoy :)
Awesome man! 🙌🏻
Thanks man!
Thank you so much. I can do the solo now. Well the slow part. But with time I will get the speed. Thanks so much for the tabs. I always wanted to learn this solo but it’s so hard. You’re the best.
Awesome!! You're welcome Alex! ;)
This is how it's done! 🙌🏼
Killer solos!!
Holy crap. Amazing playing! Brent is the man
Thanks! He sure is!!
If there were ever a video in human history that didnt merit a single dislike, it's this one. Literally what more could you ask for. Flawless execution and flawless explanation
Wow. Thank you so much Spencer!!
@@KavenGirouard in your opinion whats the hardest of the 3? With the help of this video I got the first solo down pretty well. The acoustic one looks like a nightmare
Wow! Awesome chops! You can really play my friend!
Thanks a lot Brad!!
I remember tryiing to learn this solo from an issue of guitar player magazine in the pre UA-cam era more than 20 years ago. I change guitar for keyboard years ago but this video brings memories
That's great! ;)
Which issue of guitarplayer?
My Sharona, Brent Mason, John Scofield, SRV, Jimi, Brad Paisley, Urban.. Jeez dude. You're very diversive. Your transcriptions are exact and the playing is flawless. I'm into a lot of the same music. I played in a country band for years but was always an SRV fan. I know a ton of SRV stuff but as you know the chromatic country open string stuff, and the counter intuitive interval jump melodic stuff of Scofield are different worlds. You really got it all. A rare talent that has a grasp of many different styles. I do a few note for note videos but I don't have the tech skills to put videos together like this with the tab, graphics, and sound you have. I'm blown away. You have a new subscriber and I'll be telling my other musician friends about this channel. It's incredible. Excellent. Bravo!!!!!
Oh and awesome guitars.... And sounds...
Wow thanks a lot Mark! I really appreciate it!! I love the challenge. Glad you enjoy it ;)
Thanks

Thank you SO much, man!!!
You're welcome! ;)
Thanks, Thanks Thanks......
You're welcome!
Kaven you are the man!
Thanks a lot Jaron!!
So freakin good. When this song was on top I was in a band that covered this. Three lead players. One of them did a lot of steel and fiddle, the other added some mando and took the slide parts so that helped with not too much guitar. I put down the electric and took the acoustic parts when needed. I worked on that acoustic ride for so freakin long before it felt like I had it respectable. Can't remember how it goes to play it now. From watching you I likely missed a couple things. Dude, just outstanding.
Thanks a lot Allan! And thanks for sharing this story! Really fun to play, but man, lots of tricky details!!! ;)
Awesome lesson of a monumental Brent Mason solo. Also, I have a nice blue-sparkle Telecaster, but I am drooling over that Telecaster in the video.
Thanks a lot! Monumental is a great word to describe Brent's solo!!
That is incredible. Well done, sir. You got a new subscriber!
Thanks a lot Francesco!!
This is great Kaven!! Killer tone!!!

yeeeesssss!!!!!!
🤠
@@KavenGirouard I’m learning
@@olivertwang375 A lot of great licks in there!! ;)
hot dog that’s a good one
😉🌭
Wow! This is brutal, I love your technique.
What gauge of strings do you use on the acoustic guitar?
Thanks a lot! Custom light gauge (11-52)
Interesting how you seem to anchor your wrist when you switch to certain parts of the acoustic guitar....more movement in your wrist also. Up down from the wrist not the elbow. Around 1:55....when you're not hammer on/pull off or using fingers to pick. You are alternate picking every note around 1:55.
I want to hear your thoughts as to why you anchor your wrist.
Movement is all from the elbow at around 00:20.....with the electric and you are doing straight alternate picking
I wish I had an answer for you!! I don't think about it, it simply happens... On the acoustic my wrist is not always anchored, it looks like it, but it's only because my right hand is close to the bridge! As for the movement in the elbow around 00:20, it's caused by my lack of shredding/alternate picking technique ;) I can't play fast 🤷🏻♂️
pas de faces aujourd'hui? tes expressions faciales ajoutent au video! Great job as usual!!
Haha ! Non pas dans les transcriptions... next time! ;) Merci !
Ha! Ha! Ha! On va se parler dans pas grand temps mon Kaven. j'ai quelques questions pour toi ;-) C'est vraiment hot !!!!
Haha ! Good ! Merci !! ;)
Do you have one on the solo between 1 and 2? I listened to the song and there are actually like 6 solos total haha.
Haha! Yes but only 3 guitar solos! I don't play pedal steel or fiddle ;)
I,ve tried learning chicken picking and my right hand has a hard time coordinating the alignment between the pick and the other two fingers involved.I just dont get it .I would love to just start somwhere cause i love this kind of new found picking for myself.
It's not easy at first! You can work on some lines from these solos, sloooow speed at first until you're comfortable!
@KavenGirouard I will try that.I guess i was trying it at a faster speed, and it was just confusing me altogether.I see Johnny Hiland,Brent Mason, and Vince Gill. They make it look so easy and flawless.Thank you for tye video and advice.👍
@@juanespinosa8064 They make it look so easy!! You'll get there! ;)
I saw that you had replied to my inquiry the other day it flashed before I went to bed. I woke up the next morning and it had disappeared. It’s not either email address not even a message if there is such a thing.
