  • I just watched this beautiful film and I can't say enough about it. It's a gorgeous story about love and women, and both Noémie Merlant and Adèle Haenel are incredible actresses. It's hard to find good LGBTQ+ representation in movies, but this one is perfect. Please support this amazing film!

This film can ruin anyone's life easily!! I was so much affected that I didn't eat or sleep first 3days after watch it!! The most favourite cinema I have ever seen!! Adèle is my favourite actress after all. I am obsessed on Adèle!! And the Director Celine Sciamma, she is brilliant. I have seen all of her movies! Her perception, her thinking her everything are so outstanding!! She takes this world differently!! Whatever, though I am from India!!

I think this movie is so much better and more emotionally than blue is the warmest color.(I still love that movie but this become to my number 1)

Definitely because Blue is the Warmest Color is full of male gaze. Sciamma respects her actresses and knows how to film them, and film desire. The whole philosophy behind the Portrait is so much diferent.

@@NoAimGirlKane Are you implying that Kechiche doesn't respect his actresses? His style is just raw.
Another great movie about desire between two women : The handmaiden

I agree. To me, Blue is the Warmest Color is more about the raw attraction and Adèle discovering her gayness, whereas Portrait of a Lady on Fire is more subtle and romantic, and the characters are deeper.

@NoAimGirl Kane Tbh, that’s the main reason why I prefer Portrait to Blue. Blue feels like it’s just about the physical attraction, whereas Portrait is a complete love story. I think it’s because Portrait was actually directed by a lesbian director, Celine Sciamma. She actually understands what it’s like to be a lesbian, so she can bring it to life beautifully on the screen.
