- Tooth & Fang takes a closer look at why the management of coyotes is necessary across the West. Filmed over the course of three years this film showcases some perspective as to why we hunt coyotes and why achieving a balance is important on so many levels.

Y’all are the best! If there were ever to be an Academy Award for outdoor video production, y’all would be consistent winners. The color, angles, perspectives, and richness of your experiences are world class. Without trying to sound macabre, as a life-long coyote hunter who has taken thousands of those creatures, I wish I could be a hunter in one of your videos so that it could be played at my funeral so that all in attendance could see the world I lived in. Blessing to you and all that participate in your marvelous product. Martin W. Duke.
Great job not only hunting coyotes, but explaining why it is important to do so. One of the most informational videos I’ve seen while backing it up with facts (and fun). Brilliant cinematography and editing as well. Loved all of your top notch content over the past 7 years. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Josh, much appreciated and glad you've been here for so long!
Undoubtedly the best video I have watched on coyote hunting ........ bar none !
Honest, accurate and informative together with breathtaking cinematography.
Well done, and thank you.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the work.
Love that you showed it in this manner from the ranchers point of view. Well done guys, well done!
Thanks Jim, just wanted to show more of the "why"
Anyone who doesn't like this video is simply out of touch. This was very educational, and tale telling. God bless our farmers nationwide. "Thumbs up" from this Kentucky boy.
One of the best vids I've seen. Excellent photography but the message was paramount. Great job, guys.
Thanks!
Another great production......so good when the Coyotes were barking my Blues would go nuts!
Awesome footage and great explanations for the need for coyote control and all predators throughout our country. Great job!
Glad you thought so Terry! Thanks for the comment.
That really looks like fun and you guys put it in a great presentation for us to see. Thanks for that
Thanks Kevin!
I grew up in that area before I ran off and joined the Navy. Back when a hide was $100 coyotes weren't so common. You guys did a great job. Makes me miss Montana all the more.
A video like this needed to be done so badly, absolute solid piece of work!!
Thanks! We thought so too
Wow! I loved this video. Great cinematic shots. Excellent dialogue with the ranchers. Awesome shooting, just a great video. Excellent job to everyone evolved.
Thanks!
Great video . What you men say makes sense . Best wishes from a fellow hunter in far away Britain
Thanks!
Ditto whateveryone else has posted. I too am a fly fishing enthusiest who subscribed to your chanel a long time ago. I throroughly enjoy your filming, music, and editing. It's not just "shoot 'em" videos. They tell a story as good as anything on National Geographic :)
Haha well I probably wouldn't go to the Nat Geo level but we really appreciate the kind works Kevin!!
Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing.
two thumps up on your vid from a dog shoot'in neighbor in Saskatchewan! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Hope the hunting has been good up there!
Nicely done. True we need to protect the livestock.
I first found you guys through the buck nasty series a long time ago. I'm glad you guys are hunters too because it makes for some of the highest quality videos for two things that mean the most to me.
Thanks! Love hearing comments like that!
Great piece like always! Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent film fellas...very well done and very informative.
Thanks, appreciate it James!
Nice edit guys good way to tell the story and get folks pumped as well!
Thanks!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I live in southern Alberta, I get it.
I am a small rancher. I do a lot of calling in SD. Keep up the good work. Ever need another rifle give me a shout.
Thanks!
That's it, getting out there this winter and doing that! Great job.
Thanks!
Anyone else notice the twine cutting tool he was using? I use the same thing, they are homeade, you take a knife from a sickel bar off a swather and weld it onto a steel tube then cap it off and put a rubber wrap on it, makes an amazing tool. See it at 8:12
Sweet grass is such a special place to hunt Thanks for the work guys.
Yes we're glad this project took us up there because we had never been before and it's a real beaut!!
Excellent video guys. Well done.
6:46 when the coyote runs into a covey of Huns, awesome footage
Good to see the argument from a ranchers point of view. Also it’s a great film.
as always the quality of your productions is outstanding. Great job on this presenting information on a controversial issue.
Thanks David, it's definitely a touchy subject for some
In the UK we have to double tag calves. I usually sit on them which stops them running off and gives a chance to clip the second tag!
Excellent video thank you for sharing
outstanding film!
Here in South Africa we have exactly the same problems with them, we just call them jackals but they are the same. Great video, thanks.
That would be super fun to hunt those in South Africa!
Montana Wild, great video and explaining both sides of the issue(s). I do have a question regarding Dave. What was he using to poison the coyote??? He said it's the safest, best thing he's used...Thanks!
Any chance in sharing what was used on the carcasses to help control coyotes? Great video! Subscribed
Awesome footage and purpose for hunting yotes👍I keep them in check in N.M🐺💨
Thank you!
Got to get out on a hunt with you guys soon! Great film!
Thanks Graham!
Nicely done. Great camera work and editing.
Thanks Trout Junkie, glad you liked it!
Epic film! Especialy the edit work! By the way what's the song playing from 5:10 to 7:40?
I love your videos! Much more goes into them than just shoot and kill. I’m from Billings, you guys should come down and we’ll do some management around here!
Thanks John! We always like calling dogs in new areas!
Last year on the first day antelope scouting we had 13 dogs seen by 3 pm
That's a few ;) @@johnny_ballin04
Awesome video! Thanks
Thanks!
Those Montana pales are sure some pretty coyotes. Wish we had that color phase, still our coyotes will bring 80 to 100 bucks. Good job guys.
They're good looking dogs for sure
Extremely well done, thank you
What camera equipment do you use? Asking for a friend. lol
Southern Cal is starting to see more coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions in populated areas such as ours. We have had coyotes since we moved here 30 years ago,but never until now saw bobcats and lions. The city dwellers move here, then freak out when their pet cat wasn't smart enough to stay inside.
Absolutely
Awesome video!
Great great video and Information. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber
Awesome video guys thanks for sharing
Yes, glad you liked it Kenny!
I tip my hat too you sir, a very informative account of what can happen when any predator such as a wolf or coyote's population get out of hand. Thank you !
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the film
Hey man out of curiosity what camera and lens were u using in this video?
Awesome film!
The more you shoot the more they make! So keep shooting!
Top Class lads
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, I had no idea what a problem yotes were out there. I have them but not in the same numbers. What do you do w the fur?
Ya that camo bolt action rifle is nice!!! I need to buy one
Probably a Remington 700 with a M40a3 style stock these guys have some nice setups that's for sure....
It's a Snowy Mountain Rifle in 6XC. It'll shoot that's for sure @@SonOfGod-sz5yc
Montana Wild .... it’s bad ass !! What it cost
That was excellent!
The problem with that bad weather is the only thing stopping that wind and snow.... is a barbed wire fence.
Predator free wool? That's a classic.
What a shit marketing can do
Predator management at its finest. Nice work fellas.
Thanks guys! Glad you liked it
What's the name of the poison he was talking about? Great video by the way.
Awesome video guys keep doing the good work
Thank you Ezra!
It would've also been good to mention the wide array of studies coming out about coyote predation, and how they regulate their populations (the more you kill, the more pups the females have). If there's anything history has told us, we can't control the coyote population. I'm not against coyote hunting, but I am one for knowing all the science and history behind an animal. Cool video.
The other side to that equation that nobody ever mentions is that a coyote can't have more pups if it's dead.
michael calles I’m not trying to start an argument, just a conversation. It’s impossible to kill all the coyotes, there will always be females to bear pups.
Good job guys ! Thank you very much for keeping it life stock safe!
Great film. Totally need to manage predators just like everything else. Serious question though, wouldn't this gent benefit from some dogs guarding his sheep? Also, I have read llamas will mess up coyotes.
Not sure if serious?
Australian sheep farmers keep Alpacas in their flock to deter foxes.
He runs guard dogs, hunts and calls himself, and has the government trapper trap and fly his property.
I'd love to help keep them under control. Wouldn't mind the trip from NY.
I miss walking across land masses. In the Rocky Mountains
Spot on ..nice video
Well done 👍🏼 great vid!!!! If you don’t mind me asking what is the camo gun you are shooting? Make and caliber ? Thank you
It's a Snowy Mountain Rifle loaded in 6XC. Custom gun and custom Cerakote paint by those guys.
great vid guys
Well done guys.
Coyotes are EVERYWHERE! Here in Oregon I live about 20 miles east of Portland among rural nurseries and we got such bad predator problems from coyotes and even mountain lions that it's futile to raise goats, chickens, rabbits, or any other smaller livestock! I lost a large population of free range chickens a couple years ago to coyotes. Free range chickens are sooo much happier and their eggs are perky and fresh, attesting to the increase of protein in their diet! Lost over two dozen in the early dawn one summer morning in less than 5 minutes! Our grand kids used to love playing around our semi-wooded property but since a lion killed two of our dogs on separate occasions, that no longer seems a safe option! One dog got snatched not more than 30ft away from us while the wife was tending a garden and I was working on our pickup, banging on a wheel rim making lots of noise!) Now if wife and/or grand kids go outside they only do so if Grandma or myself are armed and watching over them! The excessive lion population is due to Oregon lawmakers forbidding hunting them, especially with dogs! Now we got generations of lion offspring who are not the least bit afraid of humans! I think the Oregon legislature has gotten enough flak from this that they have allowed limited hunting of lions but still no dogs!!
Yep more reasons to properly manage predators
Great stuff!
Hello, any work with the cattle ? I grew up in a mountain village myself. anything I can do. please, take me to work. I work for a long time.
Just throwing this out there for what it is worth but the coyote that was killed eating a dead calf it is implied that the coyotes had killed him but it would appear to me that it was born dead and or froze to death shortly after birth . Its head and tongue are swollen and it is ears seem pinned back meaning he probably was never able to move them . Those signs indicate a difficult birth. Otherwise I really like this film and had very very good camera work ! Very nice viewing experience .
what caliber rifles are yall using?
What part of Montana do you ranch
Great video guys!!! When he's checking out the dead coyote at 3:55 what is he talking about? "This is the safest thing we ever used". I use lead pills so I assume that he's using chemical agents to control the coyote problems against his livestock and causing so much loss of income.
When will the shop restock?
One thing I often notice about environmentalists and animal rights activists is their ignorance about what they are supposedly experts on.
Jeffrey Collier right on
Amen!
Outstanding!
I'd love to come up there and get rid of a couple those coyotes for ya.
12:36 At a 4H event I had a lady ask me if eggs came from chickens.
I tried not to smile when I said. Yes ma’am yes they do.
Amen brother
A great video but why all the loud music.
Do a documentary with Wyoming Predator Hunts. They had decoy dogs and are ruthless on them song dogs.
Go to Idaho and make a wolf documentary.
I cant find the song that’s on time stamp 35:20 / 46:14 to 37:16 / 46:14 i like that song anyone know?
Liked and subscribed 👍👍😀
Were a small cattle farm so every lose of a calf from coyotes is like stealing money from my hands if someone was stealing from a tree hugger they would want something done. Keep them thinned out is all we can do.
They're a sneaky, smart animal. Hope you're keeping one step ahead of them.
@@MontanaWild yep have to.
It'd be nice to have the state hire some people to spread out and hunt the coyotes. Asking individual farmers to do it doesn't really solve anything.
ПРИВЕТСТВУЕМ ВАС ИЗ МОЛДАВИИ!!!
2 people from Western Watersheds and 3 from Defenders of Wildlife disliked this video.
Dealt with u idiots enough, but I’ve never had one of ur sorry a$$es packet in equipment to improve water sources 10 miles in so we can help animals...ur all city folk that think food in the store unzips it’s fur so you can eat it...
1080 would do the job but maybe a bit too good.
What bipod you guys run?
We run a Cardwell bipod. It's one of the longest ones. Not sure the exact model
This channel doesn’t feature any other channels.
Do you eat them? I have heard Coyote burgers are pretty good, I 've never had them but heard they are good.
Never ate one. Some guys have though
What cal of guns you all shooting?
They were using a 22-250 and a .223. They leave smaller holes in the hides so the hides are kept in better shape.
6xc, .223, 6.5x284
@@MontanaWild, I was wrong. I could have sworn that was 22-250 rounds that were seen being put into that magazine.. Must have been the 6xc..
I’m an deer hunter I kill every coyote I can keep up the great work sir
Thanks
In the Tobacco Roots I used to do the exact same thing depicted here for a sheep rancher. Over the course of a few years I took hundreds of coyotes for him on his land. As you say 'the look on his face was payment enough'. Most of them were nice white dogs, and I got prime prices for the pelts which I would use to buy fly fishing and reloading gear. I hunted all over the state (fished too) for almost everything you can name that Montana has to offer! It is indeed the 'last best place' for the traditional outdoorsman. This is a well presented video on the reality of the subject and I enjoyed it thoroughly. However, the 'music' was ... terrible!!!
Thanks! Sorry the music didn't fit your tastes, hard to please everyone!
@@MontanaWild My apology for coming off a bit too harsh.
