      How is it click bait?

    • @Blueyez369
      @Blueyez369 6 років тому +23

      In the first 5 seconds of the video she states "I knew you guys would click on it because you think that about yourselves". She titled it the way she did for the right reason at least. Regardless, that was the least important part of my comment. I was merely trying to state my appreciation for how she handled a sensitive topic with such respect and positivity.

      I think it's shitty to play on women's negative emotions about themselves to get clicks, especially since she just bashed beauty bloggers for being bad role models for her younger sister in a previous video.

      @@user-jy9rq8nj7q I'm sorry, it doesn't matter how positive the message is, she's playing on people's insecurities to get clicks. That's not nice to do.
      Shortly before this video she made a video on how to pose generally, it was the same exact advicen and was lively and full of body positivity. This was a redundant video that was produced to get clicks by exploiting the insecurities of women she can't relate to. And it surprised me because she used to produce great body positivity content before she blew up.
      Fortunately, she didn't seem to continue this kind of clickbaiting, hopefully it was a one off. However, after this video, I started watching her less and less, and now I don't watch her anymore.

    I don't understand why people are so shocked by the word "fat". This video was very positive and didn't shame anyone. She even included photos of many inspirational curvy models as examples. Some women really need to learn to have confidence and self love. Look within yourself and truly love the person that you are. Look at your assets and take advantage of them girlfriends. Everyone is beautiful and have a gift to offer this world. :)

      everybody wantstobeacat I’m sorry, let me rephrase that. They were obese. It’s not healthy to be that size. Facts don’t care about your feelings. When you are that big, the heart will be under constant stress, which will increase the chance of a heart attack. Having few extra pounds is not a big deal, but being 100 pounds overweight is absolutely wrong, and none of those women should promote unhealthy lifestyles. The simple reason why they do it? Money.

    • @lockwie9176
      @lockwie9176 5 років тому +3

      @@vahemirzoyan7715 actually you are wrong. Science and facts actually don't agree with you 💁 However the diet industry has been feeding everyone these lies for a very long time so your mistake is understandable.
      However these bigger women aren't promoting any lifestyle at all, they are just existing. Meanwhile the number of celebrity who are endorsing dangerous weightloss pills or "detox" diarrhea teas is still way too high. Who's really promoting an unhealthy lifestyle here?
      Unhealthy people, thin or fat, have the right to exist publicly. Fat-shaming is proven to worsen everyone's health. So can we stop there?

    To the people who say she feeds off peoples insecurities: at my heaviest weight, i would have loved her advice. How many times have i been at a beautiful place and asked someone to take a photo of myself just to be so disapointed at home because i looked bad in the photo. Even now at a lower weight i still had those struggles and it took me some time to realize: there are unflattering positions. With tips on how to pose, you get photos you will be proud to hang on your walls. Photos that will make you smile and not make you think "oh that photo would look better without me in it". These kinds of tips help my self esteem because they show me without any photoshop how beautiful i can be. They make me proud of myself

    • @IamMissPronounced
      @IamMissPronounced 5 років тому +22

      I have absolutely no photos of myself at my heaviest because I was so insecure, having this kind of advice be available combined with the message of self acceptance, I might've actually been confident enough to take photos of myself then.

    • @minapaoli1102
      @minapaoli1102 5 років тому +4

      Exactly! Have gained weight and have to lose because of my back, and the last trips we did with my lover I didn't like the pictures he took of me, even if he tells me x10000 times that I'm so beautiful. I don't feel like it. These tips are so great and she is so positive, help a bit in my self esteem and maybe, in a month when I'll go to Bucarest, I will like me in pictures a little bit more! The key is self confidence, love yourself and grow our self esteem! We're like plants, we just have to continue to grow and transform in a beautiful flower!

      Love this! And this advice works for women of any shape! I'm pretty slender but I think we all take photos once in a while where we think "I look like I'm 30 pounds heavier than I am!" I never realized that when I hold my arm flat to my body and have it closest to the camera, that's why my arm looks larger than it feels in real life. The advice she gives is very positive and can help us feel like the best version of ourselves.

    A suggestion: I think it would make a great video if you talk about what to do now that you have 328 pictures of yourself? Delete the blurred ones, okay. But could you maybe sometime share your views/advice on topics like:
    -how to choose between two closely resembling pictures (minute details that make a difference)
    -identifying what emotion a picture consists of most? (and how to expand on it?)
    -why you shouldn't delete all of your pictures in a fit of nervousness because you're not used to looking at your face from different angles.
    -objectively good vs subjectively good pictures.
    -basically how to look for the needle in the haystack?
    -also, how to get aggressive chicken to be a part of your video?
    These points make sense, right? RIGHT? 'Cause they do in my head.
    xoxo

    I clicked on this video like a starved person lunges for the food. Being fat has always been one of my biggest insecurities. I actually stopped clicking pictures of myself from the age of 10 to 17 because i was a big size girl at that time. And i burned or deleted any picture that someone else may click. Even now i don’t click pictures of myself until i am absolutely sure that i am not looking fat or wide. It has gotten to the point where i am almost cynical about it. And even a single comment about my body or size makes me go batshit crazy. I don’t take my pictures neither do i let anyone take them. The only pictures i have of myself are selfies and even then they are so sparse. Maybe after this video I’d take a full body picture of mine.

  • @jada1419

    I can see that the main message of this video was trying to be positive, but the execution was a bit problematic. I used to read magazines growing up and many of them mentioned the same things you did. Tilt your pelvis back to create the illusion of a thigh gap, wear vertical stripes, stick out your chin and down in photos, wear a belt to accent the waist. But I later learned that the core of that argument is problematic. When people say the word "Flattering" what they usually mean is "thinner", or to appear different than you actually are, or in extreme cases to wide your body entirely. Instead of focusing on whether we look thin we should focus on what really matters. Does this outfit compliment the environment I'm shooting in? Does this function well? Am I able to move around in it? How is it interacting with the environment? Does this outfit represent my personality? We should find clothes that function for us, not clothes that aim to change who we are.

    • @whereislaurensian9063
      @whereislaurensian9063 6 років тому +28

      Everyone wants to look better in photos, period. Photos can often be a first impression to others. Its well known that fat women are less likely to be hired than their thinner counterparts because being fat is seen as being lazy, so yeah, wanting to look your best and wear flattering clothes can be super important. That's life I guess.

      fat ain't healthy and you don't need to glorify it

    • @jada1419
      @jada1419 6 років тому +12

      No one is glorifying obesity, I am providing information on why messages like that are harmful to people's mental health (This includes everyone, not just people who are fat.) Thin people also struggle from these messages, people literally develop eating disorders because they are so scared to be fat or appear fat. If we teach that hey it's okay to not have a thigh gap, or it's okay not to have a really tiny waist then maybe people won't hurt themselves or put their bodies in distress all for the sake of losing a couple pounds.

    • @jada1419
      @jada1419 6 років тому +9

      If you genuinely care about people's health and wellbeing you will have to consider the social determinants of health. It's unethical to talk about health without talking about the various things that affect an individual. Take any university course on health and they will teach you that you can't solve a problem with shaming people, that's not how it works.

    I personally don’t know how I feel about this video, especially the title, even after the disclaimer that you didn’t like the title. Sorelle, so many people are going to watch and share and comment on this video, it doesn’t need a click bait title like this. I love your work in general but this video and title doesn’t have me convinced. Perhaps with topics like this in general it would have been kickass to see it as a collaborative video with a plus size blogger who takes amazing photos - get tips from them too. I hate the title too. I clicked on it because it was your video. Playing on women's insecurities for clicks isn't cool, even if you're "coming from a place of love."
    If you want to see women doing better content, look for smaller channels from women doing content you love and raise them up! Women aren't even invited to the table. That Game of Thrones thing you did had only one woman (you), and no minorities from what I saw. Do something about that and stop making beauty videos if that's the change you want to see.

I was especially disappointed by the video where shes "mad at females" for being successful in the female dominated field of beauty, without acknowledging the fact that it's more difficult for women to advance in a field that is not typically designated for women. And if she wan't better role models for her younger sister, why is she using women's insecurities as click bait?

    You are wonderful for sharing these great tips. I dislike body pics but love myself a face pic. In fact I have told many of my friends that pictures will happen, like or not. So the best thing to do is to spend some time in front of a mirror and practice your smile, if you've got a big confident smile, chances are no one is looking at anything else.
