not all japanese, he said the group will contain member who has "no difficulty" to speak in japan.. so yeah if you have the criteria, fluent in japan and resident in the audition area (or try to attempt it) no matter nation you hold you can try it (and hopefully will be accepted as trainee)

He already launched a Chinese only BG in Boystory in China and a Korean only GG in Itzy in Korea. This is his game plan for the future (known and Globalization through Localisation). If anything a few members might be Japanese American or mixed race with Japan being one side, in order to promote for the Western audience.
JYP have a natural talent of bringing all people together through MUSIC. Yet his key is communicating with his own natural born language Korean, and opening the doors through his language in English and Japanese language is Brilliant. We may all speak different languages, but there is one language we all speak and understand that bring mankind together as one that is MUSIC.

The artists make up only a small percentage and the rest are staff members, camera crew, producers, etc. The vasy majority do not speak japanese, much like the vast majority of Americans sharing a border with Mexico do not speak Spanish.
I really thank JYP for finding taltented Japanese girls and turning them into stars. Even those 4 girls who didn't debut gain some popularity and learn a lot. I believe their ability for handling stress increase and they will have bright future.

Yes, the WG US project was a mess, even I quickly switched to SNSD at that time because of lack of new song/comeback of WG at that time because of the project. But this mistake is really makes he learned a lot. I am a fan of JYP group again which is TWICE, after a disappointing disbandment of 2AM in the past. Even ITZY really get my heart. JYP is still maintaining the unique K-Pop music while others little by little follow the American popular music nowadays which is EDM.

Summary: A japanese girl group formed by sony music and jyp will debut in november 2020. Jyp described this girl group as a light made from different colors. The auditions of the girl group will be held in mid-july this year in sapporo, sendai, tokyo, nagoya, osaka, hiroshima, fukuoka, okinawa, honolulu & los angeles. They will select 20 trainees from the whole auditionees and will fly to jyp's building in korea to train. Then a reality show will be aired in october 2019 of those 20 girls training and a final audition tv program will be aired in april 2020 to choose those 9 members of the new japanese girl group.

He is a genius... the only thing I disagree with is that he is not doing auditions in São Paulo, Brazil, which has a large Japanese community....I believe it is the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. I feel that JYP might be missing a huge opportunity to have a group that has appeal on three continents.... and Brazil is an enormous market. However, once again JYP shows he is a global visionary and always remains untapped by the paradigms most people and organizations are trapped by! Good luck, JYP.... Summary:
A japanese girl group formed by sony music and jyp will debut in november 2020. Jyp described this girl group as a light made from different colors. The auditions of the girl group will be held in mid-july this year in sapporo, sendai, tokyo, nagoya, osaka, hiroshima, fukuoka, okinawa, honolulu & los angeles. They will select 20 trainees from the whole auditionees and will fly to jyp's building in korea to train. Then a reality show will be aired in october 2019 of those 20 girls training and a final audition tv program will be aired in april 2020 to choose those 9 members of the new japanese girl group.

He is a genius... the only thing I disagree with is that he is not doing auditions in São Paulo, Brazil, which has a large Japanese community....I believe it is the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. I feel that JYP might be missing a huge opportunity to have a group that has appeal on three continents.... and Brazil is an enormous market. However, once again JYP shows he is a global visionary and always remains untapped by the paradigms most people and organizations are trapped by! Good luck, JYP.... I can’t wait to see the finished product!
