How to Make Ethernet Cables - Cat5e and Cat6
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 лип 2024
- One of the main differences between CAT5e and CAT6 Ethernet cables lies within the bandwidth, the cable can support for data transfer. CAT6 cables are designed for operating frequencies up to 250 MHz, compared to 100 Mhz for CAT5e. This means that a CAT6 cable can process more data at the same time.

Great video, I always train folks by using the zip cord to remove the jacket to avoid any possibility of nicking the wires, just like you showed. Reall no need for a cable stripper, snips are perfectly fine for circumsizing the cable since we are not using that part of the cable. One step i do is to initially cut the wires about 1/8 to 1/4 inch longer, and then shove them into the RJ45 (in proper ourder of course), and wiggle around. Then, pull back out, double check the color sequence, trim to the correct length and install the RJ45 and crimp. This process helps everything stay in place. Thanks again, great video.
Your video really helped me, i had tried more than 50 times by myself to do it and never succeded. After i watched your video i did it with my first attempt, thanks a lot!
Of course. Very useful! Thank you.
I was surprised it worked the first time I tried. Great tutorial
Thank you Joe for all that information 🙏 😊 👍 😀 ☺️
How have i done these cables for 20 years and not known about that pen trick? So gonna use that now. Also self cutting RJ45 jacks save sooo much time.
Nice tuturial sir
Mr. Joe i appreciate.
help me a lot for my college work thank you sir,
Thank you friend
helpful for my assignment, thanks !
Thank you very much.
Thanks 🙏🏾
You make it lok so easy, I'm having a nightmare trying to get the cables in order. I'm usign a passthru connector and they just keep tangling up! More practice although I did come up with an invention to makr this easiert for a newbie! All I need is a 3D printer...
Glad you found the video helpful! If you invent a super awesome ethernet-making machine let us know :D !
@@Securitycamerakingcom Yes, I just need to find someone with a 3d printer. I finally got it sorted but my idea would make this task super fast and much easier.
For a distance run how would you test the cable? Something where one end is farther then you could possibly put it into the test plug side? Have you seen or are there any Raspberry Pi testers?
Hi Rich. Testers do have to go on both ends one way or another, if you leave one end connected to a unit you run the risk of damaging it. You may notice we have ours zip-tied to the unit so it doesn't get lost, you could bring that module to the other end and plug it in; both ends do not have to physically be at the screen side.
Does it matter which way the connector goes on?
Thanks for the video. Question what the best recommendation for rj45 connectors?
Hey @tulioalopez,
We recommend using our RJ45 Connectors. They can be bought at www.securitycameraking.com/product/50-rj45-ez-connect-rj45-connectors-for-cat6-or-cat5-cable/
Why color green seperated?
So is the t568b better than the A?
Hi, great question! They're both useful for varying circumstances, but B is generally regarded as the newer more versatile option. Never mix them at the same location, if your location is already using A, stick with that. For newer installations, we recommend that you go with B.
When you make one side of the network cable does the other side need to be in the exact same colors or do you flip em the other way?
Both would be 568B Standard.
@@Securitycamerakingcom TY
That was my question too. Thanks for asking. Guess I was overthinking it.
how come my cables on my cat 5E were black, light brown, light green, dark blue, light blue dark green ,pink and brown ?
If this was a premanufactured cable then the manufacturer may choose to use something internally that differs from standards but this is extremely uncommon. I would reach out to the manufacturer for more information as these are standards that are almost always followed.
That said if it was a spool of cable I would even more so say to reach out as this is not common. There may be a legend that explains from hem which colors the internal wires correspond to.

Do you have a link to purchase the tester and crimper?
Hello Here is a Link to the Tester: www.securitycameraking.com/product/5-inch-lcd-ip-tvi-cvi-ahd-cvbs-camera-cable-tester/
And here is a link to the Crimper: www.securitycameraking.com/product/cable-stripping-tool/
Let us know if we can be of help!

I struggle to pass connectors with the klein. Doesn't always cut or crimp properly. I changed to the ideal pass thru
I use my fingers for the ballpoint trick, 😁
So is it the same color as cat five and cat six
The 568B Color standard is used for all categories of Ethernet cable, from Cat 3 to Cat 8.
