    Great video, I always train folks by using the zip cord to remove the jacket to avoid any possibility of nicking the wires, just like you showed. Reall no need for a cable stripper, snips are perfectly fine for circumsizing the cable since we are not using that part of the cable. One step i do is to initially cut the wires about 1/8 to 1/4 inch longer, and then shove them into the RJ45 (in proper ourder of course), and wiggle around. Then, pull back out, double check the color sequence, trim to the correct length and install the RJ45 and crimp. This process helps everything stay in place. Thanks again, great video.

    How have i done these cables for 20 years and not known about that pen trick? So gonna use that now. Also self cutting RJ45 jacks save sooo much time.

    How do I cut off the extra after I crimp? It leaves a small amount hanging out. I do this so I make sure I’m getting a good connection. The tool itself does not cut the wires clean like some of the others do leaving a tiny amount of wire hanging out and I don’t want them to touch because it can cause a short

    Oooo.. I gotta try some of these tips. I almost always end up with a tick too much coming out the ends of the clips?! It's really frustrating. Cheers.

      @@Securitycamerakingcom Yes, I just need to find someone with a 3d printer. I finally got it sorted but my idea would make this task super fast and much easier.

      Hey @tulioalopez,
      We recommend using our RJ45 Connectors. They can be bought at www.securitycameraking.com/product/50-rj45-ez-connect-rj45-connectors-for-cat6-or-cat5-cable/

    Does it matter which way the connector goes on?

    For a distance run how would you test the cable? Something where one end is farther then you could possibly put it into the test plug side? Have you seen or are there any Raspberry Pi testers?

    • @Securitycamerakingcom
      @Securitycamerakingcom  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Rich. Testers do have to go on both ends one way or another, if you leave one end connected to a unit you run the risk of damaging it. You may notice we have ours zip-tied to the unit so it doesn't get lost, you could bring that module to the other end and plug it in; both ends do not have to physically be at the screen side.

    I struggle to pass connectors with the klein. Doesn't always cut or crimp properly. I changed to the ideal pass thru

    Hi, Thanks for your video, Highly Informative, I have same crimping tool, But confused whether I can use it Normal Rj45 jack, non pass through Jack, My doubt is clarified by your video.

      There are TWO types of crimpers - one for regular and one for pass thru connectors.
      You need the correct crimpers.
      I have been trying to learn with the PT connectors but some of the cable I am 😮using has a VERY narrow color stripe and it is hard to tell the colors . Once things are unwrapped and separated it is almost impossible to sort the wires

    When you make one side of the network cable does the other side need to be in the exact same colors or do you flip em the other way?

    So is the t568b better than the A?

    • @joeshopsin4060
      @joeshopsin4060 3 роки тому

      Hi, great question! They're both useful for varying circumstances, but B is generally regarded as the newer more versatile option. Never mix them at the same location, if your location is already using A, stick with that. For newer installations, we recommend that you go with B.

    In ancient times, I would just put the wires in order, shove them in, crimp, and they would work first try. Now that I am an old fart?🤨

    how come my cables on my cat 5E were black,light brown,light green,dark blue,light blue dark green ,pink and brown ?

      If this was a premanufactured cable then the manufacturer may choose to use something internally that differs from standards but this is extremely uncommon. I would reach out to the manufacturer for more information as these are standards that are almost always followed.
      That said if it was a spool of cable I would even more so say to reach out as this is not common. There may be a legend that explains from hem which colors the internal wires correspond to.
