Thank you so much for this video. I have been on the fence with trying a hand at Unity and C# and have no clue in either (or very very little) and this video is great inspiration towards learning! Actually after watching this video and seeing your progress I've devided to become a Patreon! Thank you!
First video in a while that I really enjoyed. It was super relatable. I also have dropped so many projects over the years but learned so much from each. And I also remember what got me into Unity and away from Torque was the tornado twins, not that GarageGames cash grab didn't help. But i'm actually currently working on my first publicly released game for an actual profit which is kinda scary. So between that and my real job I'm super busy, but I think I want to try entering the game jam as well. If I push hard enough I think I can make a fun game in a week. Nothing crazy, but at least fun.
Atm it's a series of mini game modes that make up the game, and the current mode I'm working on is almost done. I need 1 more than I'll feel happy with the amount of content accessible to players. I don't want to let people down with too little, even though my intentions are to add updates and more game modes free of cost. Looking for end of next year though if all goes well.

Your "make a game" series was one of the first games I actually finished making. I took a online game development course which was crap then found you and completed that and then decided to go to college and make video games :) I now make games from home due to health.
These tutorials are great! You manage to make such a difficult thing to learn feel so upbeat and fun! Thanks, hope you continue to upload much more still!
thanks Brackeys for cheering us up :D sharing your mistakes which seem alike our mistakes , and not regret doing unfinished projects which all have that kind of project , keep up the good work man , greetings
As someone who has been making games slightly (*cough*) longer than 10 years and has worked on the very large to the very small, I cannot recommend or highlight the advice at the end of the video enough - don't be afraid to ask questions, google for answers, read books on development, etc. This is how the AAA and successful indie developers get to where they are now. Do it too.
Brackeys : i was creating games for at least 10 years *me who thought that i can create a game that will get really famous but i can't EVEN do the debug*

Thank you so much for your motivating video. I have been trying so hard to become a full time game developer, and at times, it is very hard. But I am always so excited when I talk to people about it. WAIT THAT'S ILLEGAL!
Between the Tornado Twins and the old Brackeys intro this video was a nostalgia overload~!
Not to mention it reminded me just how long I've been watching your videos! I've been around since like, the C# tutorials.
I am a new game dev, and your videos and story inspired me to make my own games. Your videos are detailed and easy to understand. We are all lucky to have a UA-cam channel that can help us on our game dev Journey. (Btw if you guys want, sub to my channel because soon I will be posting videos of my own game and It will be helpful if I get feedback. Thx in advance.) Also can’t wait for the the game jam!!! 😎😁👾
Can’t wait to see your game

That's awesome! I subbed! What's your game gonna be about (or should i just wait for the video :D)?
@@TonsOfHunStudios btw the video should be out like next week
@@botrandomness Sweet!
Your "make a game" series was one of the first games I actually finished making.
I took a online game development course which was crap then found you and completed that and then decided to go to college and make video games :) I now make games from home due to health.
0:24 also me while coding and something goes wrong
Just watching your videos inspires me. Thanks Brackeys!
3:03 HOLY SHIT ITS THAT GAME OMG I REMEMBER PLAYNG IT WHEN I WAS 10!!
Yeah Kill Pill is a classic!
These tutorials are great! You manage to make such a difficult thing to learn feel so upbeat and fun! Thanks, hope you continue to upload much more still!
Alright, I just signed up for the jam. Will it have some kind of theme?
Yess !!! A new game jam I've entered already. I missed out on the last one.
Let’s like it....
Oh I already did it?
Gj subconscious
Haha it's instinct at this point!
thanks Brackeys for cheering us up :D sharing your mistakes which seem alike our mistakes , and not regret doing unfinished projects which all have that kind of project , keep up the good work man , greetings
I think you should do more lives of you making games or another make a game series...
Or just post two videos a week that's good too😁
See you at the jam 😁
You are the most profuse of the Unite program. I hope that the videos will be translated into Arabic. So that we can fully understand. 👍👍🙂🙂
Love Brakeys, and considering his skill level, and past levels, this video was inspiring and daunting all at the same time.
Yeah agreed!
Brackeys, please make a tutorial about in app purchases (IAP)!
Do it too.
Brackeys : i was creating games for at least 10 years
*me who thought that i can create a game that will get really famous but i can't EVEN do the debug*
@@magmaspartan296 it's making the movement of the player
Watch the tutorials from brackeys: how to make a videogame
Then learn how animations work and the asset store etc
It's probably not your calling 😂
For me I stopped using unity but I will still learn c# since I only have 4gb ram. I'm not making my laptop suffer
Just swinging by to say that you've massively gripped me since I started watching you, and helped me make the jump to unity as a person who hasn't used it before.
Totally interested in taking part in a game jam.
I'm offended this was finally shown to me in October. Algorithm fail
I recently created my first game using your helpful tutorials. Thanks for that.
Really looking forward for the jam.
Did you finish the game?
@@saurabhsingh-mo4ji Yes, it was a simple game so I was able to complete it. Here is the link:

Well, I have 2 weeks of experience.
*GOES TO UDEMY*
lollll
Same I just bought some game dev bundle too xD

Love you Brackeys!
Wich Keyboard yoy have?
Thank you so much for your motivating video. I have been trying so hard to become a full time game developer, and at times, it is very hard. But I am always so excited when I talk to people about it. So, I won't back down, and I know that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life ! #StayStrong
Can you participate in the jam without a game engine? (Only programming)
I asked somewhat similiar question. The anwser is yes.
I follow you for around a year now and your videos helped me so much to learn about the Unity engine. I agree with all the things you said an I just wanted to say thank you. My project is still in development and there is still planned a lot of content but it all started with your videos. I just enjoy it to be creative and thats the most important point i guess.
Yes, Brackeys is a huge inspiration to me as well! What's your game about?
@@TonsOfHunStudios So true, I love motivated people like him or anybody else with personal targets. If you are interested in what I am doing feel free to visit my homepage: arrivalofbeasts.com
@@50Gameplay Looks great! I love tower defense games!
I also tried making a game engine from scratch 😂😂😂😂
Its pretty ez
@@beProsto no it's not. I am working on a game engine currently and you have to manually create asset pipelines, shader interpretation, vertex specifications, etc.
@@beProsto If it's easy for you and not even professional industry developers, then you are either a god tier programmer or you are spewing bullshit. My bet's on the latter.
Love this video! It was inspiring and a little uplifting. I've got more than a good few games I've started and either just scrapped or never finished. Sometimes it feels hopeless but more often than not the only thing I really want to be doing is making games. Just keep on learning, and keep on having fun!
I really like your channel, My friend and I call you "Jesus"
Gotta love this guy, his videos have taught me so many things that I already forgot half of it but his videos are so entertaining that I don't mind watching them as many times as I need to to understand or remember something X3
Hey Brackeys,
You mentioned you lost data because you had no backups. I also lost so much files but still dont know how to save them correctly. Would be great if you make a Video how to save you work progress :D
Just copy all the files of the project into another folder or on google drive or something. That's basically backup. It's super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Yes same as MaoltsMe I use Google Drive as well for my files. Modeling and programming.
Use source control. Check out Bitbucket and SourceTree.
@@JanTuts How can I use the source control? Any Information website or a video?
@@tidragolol4438 there's probably a tutorial on the SourceTree website
Thx for all the great tutorials you did. I never would have picked up coding without them. Your enthusiasm and joy when creating stuff just carries over, makes me want to make shit work. Thank you!
Sweet! Are you working on any projects at the moment?
@@TonsOfHunStudios Im currently working on a rogue like tower defence game, but its basicly my second project so Im still a huge noob. Still, Im pretty proud of it so far ;P
@@Tichooon Roguelike Tower Defense? Sounds like a cool genre! And definitely be proud of it, not a lot of people can say they have made a game :)
What I Learned After a Year of Game Dev is ..... You will Never Learn Everything.
PS : I Really Know How PAINFUL Wirting ur own Game Engine is, Writing a Math Library, A Renderer , A VFS (Virtual File System), Integrating a Scripting Language, ECS, ... etc 😵. But I will Go For It. Gonna Participate in the Jam 😄😄
Do remember that you don't have to do everything from scratch. Often it's more motivating to actually see something happen on screen. Good luck, I'd love to see a snapshot of what you've made :D
@@nielsvs2203 Actually all I Have is a Blank Window (Not Even a Triangle), Because I Haven't Touched the Renderer yet, I Have been Planing the Engine Architecture for a long time and Just Started Coding 20 Days ago. if u are Interested in the Engine u Can Check its Repository on Github : github.com/AhmadMamdouhEnan/Neux. Thanks alot for ur Comment 😃
A good architecture is the key to a healthy project, I can't tell you how many times I've seen engines implode because there wasn't a good architecture. Seems like you're on the right track
I've been making games for 6 years (started with Stencyl). I started using Unity after the first year and watched your vids all the time back then. I wouldn't be doing what I love if it weren't for people like you. Thank you Brackeys.
