Great video and quite a coincidence that i watched your video today. But for the last few months, i was unable to decide between DCD701, DCD706, DCD800 and DCD805.
I wanted the DCD701 due the size and me being a DIYer, but at the same time I did not want to invest in DCD706 just for the hammer.
Eventually this week i went with DCD701 as a drill and DCD805 as a hammer drill after trying all 4 out.
DCD701 is perfect for 80% of the work that I do and DCD805 being used for 20v power and hammer.
Satisfied.
Thanks!
I really like the 701 and 805, 701 is a beast with the 5ah.
From my testing you picked well!
My 791 from 2017 is still going strong, it's been an absolute beast, removed a full wrap on a boat with a rubber eraser wheel, sanded cars, buffed cars, ... I thought the new one is the DCF800 (*going from the 791 drill) , I've also used drill bits and gotten through 3/8 steel seat brackets, etc. Now I have all the impacts, but this 791 spinner has been unstoppable
Appreciate the test sir! Happy to know I got the winner in my work flow. Cheers!!
805 is a beast for its size! Over 1100Watts?! Wow. That's 998/999 Territory. Those 12V Dewalts are impressive as well with the 5AH. That 5ah battery really wakes those tools up. Only thing then, is at that size w/ 5ah, it's no smaller than a 20v tool with a Power Stack. I'd really love to see them introduce the pouch cell tech into the 12V line.
Yeah that 5sh PS wakes the 805 up, it really needs a handle with that much power. I was having a hard time holding it under a controlled load. I could only image if the bit locked up while drilling, by by wrist!
Yep I was thinking the Atomic would be perfect with a 1.7, but I cant seem to keep any of them together....
12v PowerStack would be awesome, it would be interesting to see the performance. Im guessing it would have to be a different pouch though. None the less they need to make one!
@@Tools-Tested Yeah, I agree on the 801/805 needing a handle. They're definitely capable of snapping a wrist in quick order.
Great testing as always. Makes the info so easily digestable.
That 805 is marked as 850UWO I believe. Maybe that's true for a sustained load. But still, nice to see something under rated.
As for ATOMIC, other than the 850, I've not been impressed with any of them, I much prefer the 12V stuff for less money in that arena.
@@Tools-Tested Would you mind including the DCF601 as well sometime? It's the screwdriver. I LOVE that little tool. It's so versatile. More powerful than I thought, and can be clutched down to be sensitive as well. Perfect around the house tool IMO.
Thanks!
Yeah I have been reading conflicting numbers on the DCD805 for UWO.
My box is says 900 when you use a 5AH XR battery, which from my testing with the 5ah, my data showed 926.
I will add the DCF601 to my list, might be a while probably will have to retool the dyno for lower force.
Glad I bought the DCD805 im using step bits to drill through a lot of metals & iron and its running great. I also got the atomic DCF850 impact hope it won't fail, seeing the atomics may have some questionable components within.
Nice, I really like the 805! Hoping to do impacts at some point, I ordered a tester 4 months ago, so hopefully it arrives soon.
The Atomic line is great for the handyman and DIY guys , as I believe they are meant for and the xr would be for they guy who uses it to make a living.
Excellent set of tests. The 805 is certainly held back by the smaller battery packs. Wonder if they have cheaped out on the gearbox / clutch on the atomic range, given the performance of the 805, they can make a gearbox that can handle that amount of torque and power.
Thanks! Yeah the data defiantly shows what battery's to use in the 805. My goal was to test drills with a consistent load (dyno) and all of the battery's currently available. I have watch comparison videos and am left wondering how that tool would perform with a different battery.
Its very weird, I should try and mount the gearbox of the 805 on the 709.
Thanks God, I've bought DCD805, even I use it with XR 20v 4.0Ah but the torque is enough to fulfill my need 👌🏼😉
@@Tools-Tested I agree with you on the handle. Gosh, that would have been a very good add-on.
Would be interesting to see the 800 here in place of the 805. Shorter, and I don't want a hammer function in a little drill like this anyway.
Yeah wish I had one, but based off of the spec's the 805 is just the hammer version so the torque and watts should* be the same as 800.
Thanks man! Very interesting about the 805 with the smaller packs, and good to know before buying!
Awesome comparison best review I've found here on YT!! I was looking at the 794 for weight/size but, looking at the 800 for work don't need a hammer.Seems the 794 has seen more clutch/chuck issues same with my coworkers atomic.794 would be good for home use though.Thank you again!
I just bought an 805 as the result of these tests and yes it is very powerful.
What called my attention is the 799 with the hammer function claims about 150 more UWO than the 794.
It sounds odd since the previous Atomic line was the same UWO for the 708 & 709.
Hopefully we can see that new Atomic 799 hammerdrill soon, which on paper would be about the same power as the XR 796
Interesting I will have to look into that, I assumed the UWO would be the same between non hammer and hammer like previous Atomic. I did notice the 805 has different UWO rating under the same model number if it's in a kit or by its self.
Great testing as usual. That's disappointing about the atomic drills. I was excited for the 794 as a possible replacement for my 701, but I'll be skipping it and sticking with my combo of the 701 and 800. I know I mentioned it, but I love the 800. It's the same as the 805, just no hammer function. It's about as short front to back as the 794; that's one of the things I like the most about it. Unless we hear news of a mid tier powerstack (3.4 maybe) pretty soon, I'll probably grab a 5.0 to pair with the 800.
Thanks again for all these tests. 👍
Thanks! yeah was shocked that all 3 Atomics including the new 794 failed in the same manner. Which is sad became overall I did like the drill. Yeah I really hope we see a 3.4, really just think its a matter of time in my opinion.
No Problem!
Did you ever get a hold of the DCD799 atomic? Sounds like it’s different from the other 3 and the specs are closer to the 805
@@Tools-Tested Interesting that on their site the fine print on the 794 specs says “with a 2 AH battery” and the specs on the 799 are “with a 3 AH battery”
It will be great to get these failed drills back and see if the replacements fare better.
Hey buddy is there any news on those failed drills ?
So I ended up returning the 794 and 709, the 708 was actually out of warranty....
That being said, hopefully in a month or so the plan is to test compact drills. So I will pick up another 794 and we will see....
I currently own a DeWalt 20 volt 1/2" brushless, XR DCD 791 model.
I wonder if you look at the wood your put a screw into. and even the screws your using. to test the drills
How well will that 805 work as a driver ?
Thanks for your video. This video is awesome. But don’t have dcd800😿 I am comparing dcd 794 & 800, also dcf 845, 850, 921. actually I prefer DCD 800 and DCF 921. BUT I not often use it. So I thinking should I get better one or cheaper one?
I just want use it for my ebike, and daily household use
I prefer the DCD805 which is the same as the DCD800 only difference is the 805 is a hammer drill. 800 has the same body and motor.
Hows the dcd793 fit in to dewalts lineup? Is it just a Lowes 794?
Almost identical power to the DCD794, the major difference is the DCD793 is about 1/2" longer compared to 794.
Made in Mexico just like the end user who will make there money with any dewalt tools . Good stuff but I’m not a dewalt only guy I love all tools they do what they need to do and always buy used or on sale if you can
Any idea if Dewalt has addressed the issues with the 794?
Hard to say, I haven't tested another one, safe bet would be the DCD800 IMO.
HD has the Milwaukee compact kit for $99 so I may return the 794 and get that one for the same price
Have you tested the 800?...
I haven’t, but it’s the same as the 805, only difference is the 805 has hammer function.
Damn. I was hoping that you ran the 800b here too.
Should be the same performance as 805, only difference is 805 has hammer function.
@Tools Tested you would think so, but I've seen conflicting videos on it where the 805 did better than the 800 and it confused me. I wanted to just say it was because of bad testing bias, but I couldn't really be sure of that.
@@Reallytallsocks that’s interesting, Dam I might have to buy one now…..
Yeah seems like very few YT are unbiased sadly.
Hi there, I think you mixed up the 794 with the 709 there near the end of the video around the 7:45 minute mark when providing your comparison thoughts between the two.
Yeah I had both in my had checking the leds and put the 794 back instead of the 709. But luckily the 794 and 709 use the same led and plastic covered chuck.
Video gayet güzel olmuş dcd996,998,999 test ettiğinide görmek isteriz
Thanks!, hopefully at some point. I need to upgrade the dyno first for the higher force.
How about the plastic gears in the 705, just about get to end of warranty, 🕳️
If you are referring to the 708 ,I have had this drill for over 3 years and it has been used hard in demanding applications as I am a carpenter, I would not hesitate to buy another one .
You are way too under viewed! Thanks
I know it's not perfect, but I think the content is good. I just don't seem to get may views, I don't know what I'm doing wrong lol. No problem!
@@Tools-Tested Really do appreciate the work you do in spite of your low viewership. Your content quality is easily better than pretty much all the bigger guys so hopefully things swing your way at some point. You test A LOT of stuff nobody else wants to bother testing which is great. Caulk guns, grease guns, heat guns, it's much appreciated seeing how tools that aren't impact wrenches, drills and drivers stack up.
@@jaywelker5566 Thanks! Yeah I don’t know how much longer I can do it lol, I’m about out of $. Hopefully it picks up sooner or later. I try to do some variety, angle grinders will hopefully be next month once I rework the dyno I would also like to add more brands but that takes $$$. Thanks again!
Dcd800 vs dcd805?
Yeah wish I had one, but based off of the spec's the 805 is just the hammer version so the torque and watts should* be the same as 800. Hoping to test the 800 in about a month or so.
How are these to Milwaukee gen 3 hammer drill?
Lower in power, hope to test the Milwaukee gen 3 soon. My dyno has to be upgraded for the higher power of the Milwaukee.
Gen 3 will overload the current dyno with a 5ah.
The 805 is an awesome drill. Hasn't let me down yet.
Its a beast, really needs a handle! I couldn't believe the power output.
Is the 805 a good all-in-one (drill/driver/hammer) tool ?
