  • Kat Brown is an author & journalist whose work on mental health stigma and other social and entertainment commentary has appeared in The Telegraph, The Times and The Guardian. Her first book, No One Talks About This Stuff, is an anthology sharing people’s untold experiences of infertility and baby loss. Her second book, It's Not A Bloody Trend: Understanding Life as an ADHD Adult, was published a month before her first, which is a ridiculousness she really enjoys.

validation. Being validated. Knowing one is "different" and why strategy is everything. Makes life so, so much easier, doable.

Thank you Kat, I can relate to so much of what you’re saying, and yes!! your approach to healthy eating and exercise makes sense. It’s specific and achievable.

"malady". Yes! Like, an excuse in inverted commas, or avoidable if one is "better" or less lazy. Absolutely right.

I’ve been put on antidepressants on and off my whole life for anxiety .. I now know I have adhd .. the SSRIs REALLY messed me up and I’m still suffering with post SSRI withdrawal syndrome .. this is not a remission of “my anxiety” but a very real withdrawal .. I stopped taking escitalopram 5 months ago .. I took 5 months to wean myself off only 5mg and I’m still suffering now

same withdrawal after taking myself off of the same SSRI. i actually went back on because I couldnt deal with myself anymore, to the point of self harm. Im going to try St. Johns Wort and Brain On recommended by Dr. Amen in addition, tweak my diet and move my body more, hoping one day I can wean myself off again =/

Any one know if anything came of the adhd subtype dubbed hypokalemic sensory overstimulation? I ask as myself and offspring are showing signs and the NHS are pretty ignorant to it!

disabled people can't use "exercise" as strategy, just saying. (disabled whole adult life because bone cancer as a kid).

Kat, an aside... I would love you to actually swear rather than use a word invented to help supress actual emotion. x
