He wasnt drifting lmao. He was on brakes doing a burnout for 90% of the course. More smoke, sure; but he's going 40% of the speed of the other professionals
That Mach E seems horribly unbalanced for drifting, like it was extremely hard to get it into a controlled slide. The fact it carried itself waaaaaaay onto the grass in the 180 spin was enough to tell you: "I'm an extremely heavy car and absolutely not suited to be a drift car despite the fact my manufacturer, greens and governments want me to be."

I'm just starting to get into watching drift and I'm completely baffled by the backwards shot, showing nothing but smoke and a piece of the chassis. I literally cant see the car, whats the point of it?
In my opinion the only relevant onboard shots when it comes to drifting is the cockpit cams, preferrably with a wide fisheye lens. I can still see the angles the driver is sliding through and at the same time I get to see the footwork and handwork. The rest, save it for conventional racing please, thank you.

And no, they just don't work the same, torque is instant and theres no gearing for different corners, you can't make a tight corner and then upshift to continue to drift up a long sweeping corner.. it's just one continuous gear. There's also little to no throttle modulation, it's more like an on/off switch.. very hard to get an in between suited for drifting. Electric cars just don't deliver power the same way petrol or diesel cars do, and that's the biggest obstacle they have to overcome with these electric based drift cars.

Watch any FD event in 2004-2009 to see that they wouldn’t even qualify as Pro 2 drivers. But I have to agree, there’s a lack of diversity compared to the last decade but this could be changed in two ways, the first is the implication of more manufacturers thus allowing the development of more drivetrains, the other is a series with a limitations in terms of Horsepowers.

Because James' showmanship was boring and dull. That's why it was 'meh'. These S Chassis drivers/cars are/were savage JDM performances. Always will be. Nothing against Mr. Deane but it's not all about "silly smooth" . There is a crowd to please and entertain.
