A terrific video with all the excitement AND frustrations particularly enjoyed the no room for cables and no family internet eyerolls left in makes it honestly enjoyable. Liked the cable management although would hate to change out anything. What really came home was when you fitted the rca’s became like a Medusa. Maybe different colour cables RCA, HDMI, Ethernet and power (not just different colour ends) might make any inventory debugging or switching out etc easier BUT having said that it all looks so well done.
Thank you - ironically, I am going to be going over the cables and setup in the video I'm making right now to explain - the "medusa" is actually really simple which I will explain. Each amp has it's own set of RCAs and they are super neat and bundled together for easy troubleshooting. That being said, I shouldn't need to be moving this any time soon. Even if it's a Trinnov, it uses XLR anyway so would need to be redone :) Look out for the next one!!
Holy cow...the amount of work involved to remove the rack and set. I did this late last year on a much smaller scale and it took many many hours AC Infinity is great stuff! Cutting a hole and then finding out it it's not going to work or have to be modified is a gut-punch. Cracks me up that you have to used the superior Fahrenheit settings Those amps look look amazing in the rack **head bump!** The RCA cable look slick - love the colors Congrats on 25k!
Great job on those racks Tony…what a huge job! Can’t wait to see the next video and hearing your thoughts on those shiny new amps :) Also, congrats on 25k!!
Hey, just an idea, but you have 2x 10amp Clipsal iconic double points in there, I would swap them over to 4x 20a single, then I would check what size cable they used and ruffles how long the run is to the switch board, and do a do a test to see what breaker is running them and what other plugs are also on the circuit. See if they can be separated do there own run, and then go a 32amp breaker. Your power conditioner will help, but you have a lot of gear in there now and the individual power supplies of the Elektra amps are a lot bigger then the demons. Plus all of the server gear. Maybe before you do that just see if your power conditioner has a watt meter and do a test at reference level of how much current your drawing.
Hey there, I have multiple 20 and 30 amp circuits specially built for this space which I’ve covered off in some earlier videos as I built this house from scratch with this space planned to house the rack but completely agree with your advice.
Hello There and I love the channel. I am planning out my first home theatre in a spare bedroom and your channel has been a massive help and inspiring while planning it out. I am planning on putting a 25U rack in the closet of the bedroom to store my gear. I was wondering about how to help vent that in a small closet. What AC Infinite unit did you use there. I was thinking of doing something similar and doing a intake on the bottom on the closet door and something like that to vent it the heat into the attic.
Hi Tyler, thanks for the message. Yes, it helps a lot. I have links to the exact unit I used and it does lower the temps by about 11c from before when I actually had less gear in there. You could also use something like the cloudline series if you have room in the ceiling space to house it: amzn.to/3Kc5KB2
@@BuildMontage nice! It’s coming out epic! I have a little home theater with a small system and projector screen in my room, but I can’t do anything yet cause I don’t own the house, can’t wait to buy a house though to make a home theater!
Is a 7.1 "bed level" worth it? I've tried it before (pre Atmos) and I was getting the same sounds from all four back speakers. Nothing was discrete. Has anything changed?
Of course 7.1 works if your processor is able to process those channels. It will also depend on your source material. If you have a 5.1 or stereo mix then it will blend the sounds through those speakers if you have it set to do that. The source matters a lot.
Hi Tony - firstly nice job and vid. Regarding the cooling of your rack and closet, a cautionary note with the positioning of your AC vent and Infinity fans. When you have the Infinity fans on, it will pull air from the AC vent in the first instance therefore greatly diminishing the cooling ability of the 'system'. I would suggest you put a ventilation grill on the bottom of your door to allow the cooler air to be drawn from the outside room, up through your rack utilising the natural convection of the hot air. You may even find that you don't need the AC at all with the utilisation of the outside (HT room) air and sufficient flow up through your rack with the assistance of the Infinity fans. This will obviously depend on how hot those amps get thus heating up the space. Nonetheless, having your heat extraction and cooling air vents adjacent to one another is not a good thing when it comes to AC design as air like sound, follows the path of least resistance.
Great idea, and that is absolutely on the cards to do. I have sourced the vent already to put in. Secondly, I don't need to have the vent and aircon running at the same time. When the aircon is on, it actually pushes the door open so it will blow cold air and that closet gets down to about 22c. The vent is a great idea for when Im simply venting the hot air when the aircon is off, and pulling in fresh air. My only concern is the noise leak as I record right opposite the door and my rack NAS is very noisy. But yes, love the idea. Thanks for sharing.
The air con isn't on all the time as it's connected to the ground floor aircon, not zone controlled. Heat extraction from those fans has made a HUGE difference to the ambient temp of the closet. I am going to be adding some more fans for extraction, although the airflow is pretty good in that rack and ambient is showing that.
Hey mate, great video! Did you end up using the single AC Infinity Fan? Or do you have the Airplate extracting straight into the roof cavity? Looking to do the same.
Hey mate, I am using 1ru fans from AC Infinity now between each amplifier, and also have a 3 fan array in the ceiling... I've changed this setup since this video, have a Trinnov in there now - you can check out my room tour on the channel - I can link it if you cant find it.
@BuildMontage Awesome mate! I've kept up to date and very envious of your setup! Haha. You gave me fomo on Krix. Yeah. I've purchased the 3 Fan Array which I'm installing into my ceiling above my rack. I love the 1RU Fans, however, they all seem to be front exhaust. I've got a glass door on my rack (same as what you had at the beginning) which I want to keep on - So still figuring out the best way to good airflow through the rack.
Hey Tony. That is one awesome setup you got there. I hope you don't mind but I have a few questions that I wanted to ask you. First off, does a single AC Infinity enough to cool down that area? With all that power amp and the space between them, does it generate a lot of heat? I also saw that you only have one power cable connected to the outlet (please correct me if I am wrong), with all the current required to drive all those amps and equipment, how do you ensure that that single outlet has enough juice to drive them efficiently. Well, I look forward to that Trinnov processor, hope that would be your endgame.
Hi Nols, all great questions! So firstly, I have airconditioning to do cooling. The purpose of those AC Infinity fans is heat extraction and so far it has lowered my temps in that room by around 11 degrees celcius. The spacing between the amps is 1/3 RU and I have checked and the heatsyncs do a great job at heat dissapation, and rack is staying pretty cool even under load. For the power, I have a 30amp circuit and multiple 20amp circuits in this space as I built the house, so I had it all provisioned like that to handle high power, and I've had no issues at all under full load, everything is running perfectly. It's all in the planning :)
@@BuildMontage well worth it for the end game processor. I remember when the Datasat RS 20 i was the high end processor to beat, until the trinnov came out. Now nobody talks about it.

Really cool setup, congrats! I just have one question, since you have a 13 channel setup, why do you have 3x 7 channel power amplifyers when "only" 2 would be enough?
I explained it in part one of the video, but they are actually 5 channel amps but have the same chassis as the 7. I can send them in to have the additional channels added later :) and yes two would be enough but in case I wanted to add some more speakers coz I’m a little crazy!
