  • Hey everyoneee, hope y'all are staying safe. please wear your masks, take precautions, and stay sanitized!
    So recently I've noticed some major improvements in Sakura's dancing and singing in their recent comeback, and I was pretty impressed. I remember how in Produce 48 she was always genuine and sincere, and never failed to acknowledge her shortcomings and worked on them to become a better version of herself. I think she's kept her word and is working hard to improve, so I tried my best to put together a video showing her progress in produce 48 and in all their comebacks to date! Hope you enjoy the video.

    Sakura is one of those strong people who recognized, acknowledged and accepted their flaws and imperfections. She is contented for who she is but still has the hunger to improve herself. The mindset of wanting to surpass herself from yesterday. She's been and being criticized but it won't stop her for being who she is and who she wants to become. Imagine being an idol for 7 yrs, watching those girls who only had few years or even just months in training perform way better than you do, that would crush my soul and all confidence I have. But Sakura did not, she was frustrated but was determined to learn and improve starting from the F grade. Fearless. Someone who pushes to be better everyday even if it's just a little. I seriously admire her for this. Also she has a golden heart.

      Might be a neurological disorder around her eyelids, since she can't coordinate them voluntarily to wink, and sleeping without shutting your eyes is also another known neurological disorder, which is also unhealthy for your eyes too, so she should probably use eye lubricants or see a doctor if that happens alot.

    If anyone’s wondering why she got an A:
    The judges knew very well the japanese trainees weren’t nearly as trained as the korean ones. Despite that, Sakura could dance kinda well and sing, which made the judges consider her potential. “Trust me and give her an A” Basically, it’s as if you tried to judge a person which wanted to audition for a company. While the korean trainees had amazing teachers to get the skills that they have, Sakura never had that opportunity. Instead by her speech and her true intentions, the judges could tell she had the potential to become much better and debut
    Overall this show was incredibly unfair and the judges could tell. The cultural difference between how one japanese idol and how one korean idol is trained made most of those japanese idols get a F. Clearly unfair to judge them as if they were korean trainees

      I think it's fair judging tbh, since they're in Korea. Contest shows like these shouldn't really be taken easily, it's up to you if you're going to be affected by what your current grade is and not improve it or improve it.

    • @StevenUniverseRomanian
      @StevenUniverseRomanian 3 роки тому +64

      @@unknownperson9543 that's a little ignorant considering that the definition of a skilled idol differs in Japan and Korea. While perfected skills matter a lot with Kpop Idols, Jpop Idols concentrate on having fun personalities and entertaining their fans (not saying that Kpop Idols don't do that, but it's not exactly their main task in a Kpop group). The Japanese Idols didn't get the training the Korean Idols did, making it clearly unfair to judge their skills as if they were refined from years of training. A better way was to judge their potential as a first audition and then check how well they do after some training. (Produce had trainers that helped the trainees a lot. It was what made J-Idols adapt to the system and become better)

      @@StevenUniverseRomanian wha- they're in a contest to be in a kpop group. It would kinda be unfair if they had to go hard on korean trainees and somewhat soft on Japanese trainees (or idols idk), that's why I think it's fair judging because their judging is like equal to both nationalities. It's not like they were eliminated right away when they got an f (i think). Even though they got a low grade, they still trained the Japanese and Korean trainees fairly and helped most of the J trainees with what they lacked. I think their judgement just showed that training in korea is a lot stricter than in Japan, and I think that realization is what anyone would need in order to have the spirit to not give up :/

    The Japanese idol system is about growing from zero. The very popular school idol anime Love Live focuses on 9 high school girls who work teeth and bone to become superstars. It reflects the very nature of Japanese values in idols. Where as idols in Mahwa (Korean comics) are, without exception, seen as perfect god-like beings. There is such a big difference and I have so much respect for Sakura for being humble and keeping her head up despite hardships. She is a true idol by all means, love her to bits.

She was already on top and famous being an idol in Japan for several years but she started from the bottom and worked her way up. She showed genuine emotions all throughout. She never took anything for granted and worked hard. She acknowledged everything with grace and learned from her mistakes. She is our true center. She doesn't have to take the spotlight 100% of the time and shared it with other members, even during Le Sserafim. She is here to improve as a person and accomplish her dream. She felt like it wasn't because of her skills that she always ranks high in akb48 because she knows she's being "pushed" by the management. Also the number 1 reason she gets wota haters because they feel like she's "stealing" the spotlight from the other top members like in "Kimi wa Melody" which is Akb48's anniversary song, where she is the center even though she started in hkt48. Honestly it doesnt really matter because in the end they are one big family.
    Being a Jpop idol isn't about being the "top performer" in the first place unlike in the kpop industry. It's more about being good at entertaining the fans and making them happy. Skills just comes in second.

    • @Xynic48
      @Xynic48 3 роки тому +47

      @@danitaketani That's pretty much true for most pushed members though. The management noticed their growing fanbase so they give them more projects which makes their fanbase grow even faster. But not everyone though. Nako was pushed even though she was relatively new and didnt have a big fanbase yet. She was pushed because the management really liked her and saw potential in her.
      I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with being pushed though. It's the management's way of giving the group an "identity" considering how big the group is. Like they want you to remember certain members when you think of AKB48 and not just the "Idol group with many girls". This is one of the main problem fans complained to aki-p when the group was starting according to the akb docu. Which he solved by making Maeda Atsuko the "face of the group" so she's basically the first ever pushed member of akb. Like aki-p just picked her because he believed in her even though she was not the best at anything at all. This pretty much started the "center" culture in idol groups.

    • @user-gp1bt4vm3r
      @user-gp1bt4vm3r 3 роки тому +16

      I wouldn't necessarily call them "family." They're CONSTANTLY battling one another for higher rank in senbatsu. And as you most likely know already, 48G is just a stepping stone into what they actually wanted to do as a career. Also, Sakura left to Korea literally to become a top performer with IZONE. Otherwise, there would be no reason for her to go to Korea in the first place.

    • @Xynic48
      @Xynic48 3 роки тому +17

      @@user-gp1bt4vm3r By "family" I meant all the sister groups are one big family. But that said, I also cant agree with what you said. Even though they compete for rankings once a year, majority of the year, they are just normal members performing together. And it's not like they work hard to bring someone down, they work hard to bring themselves up. That's the difference. And also, like all groups which was started from Produce, they have a contract deadline and will disband after the contract. While I personally dont mind if IZONE becomes permanent, and Sakura and all the japanese members stay as kpop idols (even though it's sad for wotas), as of now IZONE have less than a year before disbanding. They already almost disbanded this year after the Produce101 controversy. Their contract extension is kinda not looking good. So Sakura returning to AKB48 is highly likely. Well she did kinda promised she will be back.

      @user-gp1bt4vm3r 3 роки тому +3

      @@Xynic48 Well, as you probably know, that once a year ranking is more important than performing "as a group" majority of the year as it determines your popularity, which equals more pay and opportunities. This is why they all try to stand out. Which is something I noticed Sakura was doing a lot in the beginning of IZONE out of habit. But she eventually became more used to the Korean way of being one and doesn't do that anymore.
      But IZONE holds a special position compared to other Produce groups. They're the last group standing in the Produce series and they've lost a lot of promotion time due to the controversy and especially the pandemic.
      For me, I can see them getting, at least, a contract extension due to their massive success. Probably from X1's 5 year contract they never got to use. Which would make IZONE a 7½ year old group. Which is around the time that most groups disband anyway or go on "indefinite hiatus." So, it would be perfect if it were to turn out that way. And Sakura could pursue acting in both Korea and Japan since she would be proficient and fluent in Korean by then. Which would be very interesting and fun to see Sakura speaking in perfect Korean.

Of course friendly rivalries exists and some are probably not on good terms, but I dont think it's right not to call them a family just because everyone is aiming for a higher ranking. That's kinda a shallow reason. Many of the high ranking members are veteran members, I bet those at the bottom who are newcomers looks at them as their senpais and a motivation to strive higher like how Nako admired Sashihara Rino and joined HKT48 because of her.

    I studied English for 8 years in my country and has a culture shock when I move to UK since I can’t communicate with anyone at all. But after a year and a half with an excellent native speaker teacher, my English improved dramatically. So yes I guess this is the same for Sakura as well.

    People have to remember that Japanese idols’ jobs are to entertain audiences and give fan service. They don’t have to be necessarily good, they just have to appear loveable.

    I thought after watching the Produce series people would get it, but I guess they still don't.
    The reason she's popular and beloved by so many people is because she has STAR QUALITY. While she is not a very good dancer or vocalist, she ranks at the top with fans because she has aura. She's literally one of the highest ranking AKB members, out of God knows how many girls competing yearly for a slice of the pie. What AKB lacks in skills, they compensate with stars. It's no coincidence the Japanese contestants in PD48 were constantly outranking the skilled Korean contestants.
    Singing and dancing can only get you so far.
    Let's take a look at another example: Twice. Twice is the biggest female Kpop act today. Despite getting flagged for not being skilled at dancing/singing, they managed to outsell SNSD in under 5 years. Why? STAR QUALITY. JYP struck gold when he chose the 9 members for Twice. He understood that star power>skill. Why do you think the theme song for Sixteen (TV show where Twice members were picked) was called "I'm gonna be a STAR." Hell, he even did it again with NiziU.
    My point is, Sakura isn't gonna be the best singer or dancer no matter how much she trains. But polished gem or not, she's brighter than most idols out here because she has star power. She has that X Factor.

    • @user-gp1bt4vm3r
      @user-gp1bt4vm3r 3 роки тому +11

      But honestly, even that doesn't get you all that far as well. Star power does put you out there, but there's still limitations. How you might ask? Well, HKT had THE most popular 48G member of all time, Sasshi, in the group along with Sakura, along with the Nako/Miku duo, AND Harrupi all at the same time and they still never made the type of impact that IZONE made in less than a year. HKT is mainly popular inside their 48G universe, which is huge fandom, but they're not all that popular with the *general Japanese population.* Known group, yes. But not much interest in the group from the general public relative to their name brand.
      Yet, with IZONE, who had all unknown members who were just trainees, aside from Sakura and Nako maybe, and Hitomi who wasn't all that popular at the time - they found HUGE success globally. Chiba Erii said IZONE is everywhere in Japan. On TV shows, commercials, ads, etc. And so, she said she was envious of that.
      So, even with star power, you still need the right type of people around you in order to support that. And IZONE allows her to shine brighter than she ever did in 48G because she has all the right people around her. Even though IZONE's lineup was rigged, the people chose the right members to rig the group with.

    • @soberlad
      @soberlad 3 роки тому +4

      @@user-gp1bt4vm3r @J You have to understand that HKT couldn't get those numbers because they're not based in Tokyo. Tokyo has more people, but they're in Hakata. But 4 million albums sold is still impressive. They got it with virtually zero overseas marketing... and in a place that is not Tokyo.
      Izone is based in Seoul. The best comparison would be AKB. I'd argue that AKB is the epitome of star power>skills. With more than 60 million records and 6 million albums, I'd say they're getting off just fine. And when you factor in that, unlike Izone, AKB doesn't market their music overseas -- then you start realizing how impressive that is.
      But K-Pop is better in terms of marketing, I'll give you that. I believe the K-pop industry markets their artists and events really well, especially with the use of the internet. J-Pop's overseas marketing is.... well, non-existent.
      And I do agree that Izone has brought Sakura's fame overseas. She shines brighter in Izone.

    • @user-gp1bt4vm3r
      @user-gp1bt4vm3r 3 роки тому +2

      @@soberlad But, honestly, the region doesn't really matter for music, in general. And a local group is almost always going to sell higher than a foreign group as well. Most especially since the 48G fandom is huge, in itself. And of course, Japan is the only country in the world that still sell more physical albums than digital. Everyone else adopted digital. But HKT's interest from the general public, outside of the 48G fandom, is still relatively low compared to their recognition.
      According to the Nikkei Entertainment 2020 survey, HKT has a *24%* public recognition in Japan, but *14.6%* interest. Even AKB is pretty low as well. *45%* recognition, but only *23.6%* interest. Whereas, Twice and IZONE is pretty balanced. Twice is *29.5% : 21.1%.* And IZONE is *18.5% : 13.2%.*
      But this isn't about Kpop vs Jpop for me. It's about which *group* would benefit Sakura more. And that group is obviously IZONE, hands down. The only argument I get from hardcore 48G fans is that, HKT is "_home_" and so, Sakura wants to go back no matter what and can't wait to leave IZONE. Which I, personally, think is ridiculous that she would ever want to leave IZONE. That's literally only argument I get from them, while I give examples after examples of why I think IZONE is a better group for Sakura.

    Let’s admit it, Sakura’s improvement skyrocketed in only 2 years in Produce48 than AKB. She needed a better teacher, or at least a management that DOES care about technicalities in skills(dancing/singing wise) although I’m not ignoring what she learnt during her years in AKB/HKT, the fact that she blossomed so much in another studio says it all. There were brutal criticism in Korean television for her, words that kind of stepped on her person but thankfully she was strong enough to get past it and not let her fire die.

      I do see what you're saying but life as an idol in HKT/AKB and the full 48 group is about so much more than technical precision. It is about skill in variety, ability to connect with the fans etc. And ultimately AKB48 is one of the most successful music groups of all time, more than any single kpop artist.
      So it depends on what you look for. I'm a long time fan of both kpop and 48 group and kpop can sometimes feel a bit soulless in comparison even despite the performance being top notch.

      @@domdhp AKB48 might be one of the most successful groups of all time, but the fact of the matter is that, once you graduate, it's very difficult to find success outside of that 48G universe no matter how popular you were in the group. Honestly, all the big name members in 48G who graduated, all pretty much faded from the limelight very quickly. No one's really sustained success outside of 48G.
      On top of that, you're constantly in competition with everyone including your own group members. She even said that she wasn't as close to Nako as she is now even though she knew her for years because of their senior-junior relationship. So, there was always a line between them that they never crossed. There's a reason why she says IZONE is her second family despite being in HKT for 7 years.
      Sakura, despite ranking #2 in 48G, felt scared about her future. And so, she came to Korea to turn her life around, which she did fortunately. I'm sure you already know, but if you watch her live broadcasts now compared to her showroom days, she looks WAY happier now than she did then.

      domdhp i totally agree with you. I’ve been a huge fan of 48G over Kpop. Ever had only followed GG and 2NE1. In a sense, 48G is much livelier and funnier to watch due to being more well rounded in the entertainment field. However, during it, I saw girls who had potential that was never nurtured. Take Juri, Mako, Nako, Hitomi for example. They’re talents for singing/dancing were like hidden gems among a sea of fishes in the 48G world. As others have pointed out, not everyone was happy with the way things were and there were others who wanted to pursue music but felt stuck. Hence pd48. I enjoyed seeing the 48G girls show a side of them we as “fans” wouldn’t otherwise see had they not entered.
      There are details about graduates as well in 48G. They literally faded from the limelight. I’m presuming some are struggling catching up to lost time, trying to make a good living. Some aren’t as recognized in showbiz.

As a trainer, for me her comments were too harsh that can destroy confidence and even discourage their spirit - not encouraging at all. She's supposed to train them to be better and not just criticize - she's obviously judging her, not giving advise to improve or pointing her mistake but outright tells her that she ruined their performance and all. She might have the good intention but she should know how to do it better that what she did. I don't really know what happened entirely offcam but I just can't help but to vent out my opinion because I hate people like that. She's the center we never had, yet most of the live stages she's wearing different outfit from the rest of the members. It means the pd team is really showing us something. 🤗

    this is why i think so many of us support her so much. she knows she needs to improve and never hides away from that fact but you also see just how much she puts into every performance. she tries so hard to be better each comeback and its really admirable. she might no be the best technically speaking but you can just tell she was born to be a performer/entertainer

    the way she went from believing she’d be F class in pd48 to being part of the dance line in Iz*one by SSOTS (people believe she became the 4th best dancer)

    about the shaky sound, well well well..she was shaky even during speaking whenever she spoke korean back in the days during PD48 n early years of izOne..in terms of fast leaner of korean language skills, she was way behing Hitomi and Nako

    Sakura is honestly one of the rare idols who never stop surprising you. We all know that she has an entertaining personality and a special idol aura but she just keeps getting even better, that Fiesta fancam was one of the best eye contact I have ever seen, and she went from struggling with 4D choreo to dancing the dance break. That is what makes a true idol in my opinion
