    I told my septic company about my plans to do this last month while they were out here pumping. They saw no issues with this. What I’ll be doing is setting the cap in a 3” UniSeal instead of caulk. It has the coupler and then a 3” ABS downspout that’s 3 feet long. The hose will be permanent from mother-in-law’s RV with the black valve always open. When the grey tank in RV gets full, or every few weeks, I will close the black tank valve, detach the hose at the riser, and go over 4 feet to the liquid side (of septic system) to empty the grey. The leech-field is a new construction that replaced a pit 2 years ago. They gave us an extra 10 feet on it for good measure. We plan on taking good care of our system and I’m not afraid to give this a try. I appreciate this video and this option is saving us hundreds and hundreds of dollars. If I find out differently, I’ll update this comment.
    I only came to say, the only thing I’m doing differently is the 3” UniSeal (for $7) instead of caulk and added the 3’ pipe (for $12).

    I highly recommend getting a clear fitting at the septic tank lid so you can see that all solids are coming out and you can see when the water is clear when flushing your black tank. Its inexpensive and I think is a must. If your stomach can’t handle it get a blue dye That is septic safe. Tons on the market. Also make sure whatever cleaners you are using along with toilet paper are septic safe. Great video. We were full time but now purchased a home and want to connect to our septic for friends and family to stay in the trailer when visiting. This is a great idea and very cost effective. Another thing I have seen people do is run solid pipe. It holds up to the elements of weather much better and you can build a form to run the pipe at proper slope if you don’t have the best drainage. Of course it’s a lot more expensive and more for long term.

    If folks are waiting to get home to dump, make sure your black tank has support under it.
    Most rv’s are designed for you to dump before travel, and will not handle travel with the weight of a full tank.

    You don't want to dump that close to your leech field line. Go find the input line and put your T joint in there. Because you put your dump next to the leech line, you're going to churn your sludge right next to the exit which will cause sludge to enter your leech. I have to give this one a big fat NO, don't do this. Put the T on the input line. Not in the middle of the tank.

    DO NOT DO THIS!!! I just talked to my septic pumping guy, and he said doing this will ruin your drain field in about 3 months. It has to do with what happens to the effluent in the tank. There is stuff that needs to float until it is digested by the bacteria, and stuff that needs to settle to the bottom. In between is the clear "Effluent" that heads to the drain field. When you dump 40 gallons of black then 40 gal off gray from the lid it stirs the whole tank and wipes out that delicate balance of what is floating, and what has settled. Solids then will run into your leach lines and clog it up. If you are going to do this (it is not per code) but at least tie into the line that runs from the house to the tank with a full sweep. That way the sewerage enters the tank where it is supposed to. Also, never use any type of RV deodorant, or any chemical that helps dissolve the sewerage. This also ruins how the tank is to work. It is the bacteria in the tank that makes it all work. And never dump it all at once. Dump maybe 20 gallons then wait 15 minutes, and dump another 20 gal.

      As a plumber who installs septic tanks and Leitchfield I agree 100%.
      Basically by dumping such a large volume of solid waist into your tank a large portion will go directly to the area that only the pure liquid waste can go
      Thus clogging the system up.
      The only way to fix a clogged Leitchfield is to fill it in and rebuild it.
      As a example: the more people that uses a system = the larger the system must be.

    At least put a pipe underneath the lid where your lid is going through the scum layer that floats on top, this is just going to churn up your septic tank and make solids transfer further down the system.

  • @rickd1369
    @rickd1369 2 роки тому +1

    Your system is only capable of breaking down waste at a rate you normally use it. If you’re barely there traveling in your rv, then you dump it when you get home and use it like regular, you’ll be putting an extreme load on your system and could do damage to it depending upon age of system and maintenance routine. Also, silicone is not a suitable bonding agent. If you do this, use PVC glue where the coupling attaches to the adapter on the underside of the lid. Still silicone the top but glue the bottom.

    Alot of comments point out something that seems to make very good sense!!!
    Do NOT drop your waste directly through the top of your holding tank (first tank). This will upset the fragile eco system that 'it' is.
    Tap into the waste line that comes from your house and into that holding tank (first tank).
    Thats hard to do obvously cuase it's going to be buried 2 or 3 feet below the surface. More often then not there will be a clean out that taps into that same line and that is where you could tie your RV waste line in.

    Great idea, but my main concern is that RV wastewater is not going through the intake baffle on the septic tank. What I think is going to happen is that you will have all the RV waste solids sitting on top of the Scum layer and the heavy particles "might not" settle to the bottom of the tank like they are supposed to (trapped on the Scum layer). An extension tube down through the scum layer might be a fix.

    Another good reason not to do this is Bacteria. A good functioning septic system needs plenty of bacteria to break down the solids and function properly. Be cautious about dumping any RV holding tank sewer in a septic system that has been treated with aftermarket conditioners to reduce smells and odors. These chemicals will neutralize the bacteria in a septic system and drain field over time. Only way to fix the problem when this happens is sucking and flushing out the septic tank and digging in a new drain field.

    Even the Rhino version of hose is not very sturdy. Mine had holes in less than two years and I was not sure where the smells were coming from for months. If you are on your own property it makes sense to just buy ABS pipes and set up with no risk of leaks...stink doesn't just disappear if those hoses fail. Not worth the risk. LOL

    • @100tesla1
      @100tesla1 6 місяців тому

      Yes, it is better to tap into the line from the house because then the sewage enters the tank without stirring it up and the system can operate as it was designed. Use the clean out. You may already have one in that line because in most places it is required.

      yes, dont go much over 1/4" slope per foot, (around 7.5 inches drop, over 30ft,) maybe a bit more for plastic corrugated flex, OR you risk clogging wtith solids.
