It is not the minimal gain of seconds through Aero that is important, but the gain in comfort through Future shock that really makes a difference!
I love the Roubaix concept and would like to upgrade to S-Works with Future-Shock 3.0! Unfortunately only available with SRAM...
I hope there will be another version with Shimano Dura-Ace soon!!!! ...or at least a frameset in Europe.

11 seconds faster on 100 km is very nice. So if Sagan rides the previous version and I am on this one I’d be a mere 1:59:49 instead of full 2 hours slower. Great.

I have the 2018 which is awesome! The yellow-lime turns heads everywhere. Why no Shimano drive train for the high end of the SL8? Not upgrading until di2 is available.

I love the updates. Fixes the only complaints I could have of my 2020 Roubaix - ride compliance at the rear, more tire clearance in case even more comfort is desired, and a top tube bag mount so that my bag doesn’t have to strap around the Futureshock, inhibiting its movement and wearing out its dust boot.
My only wish is to offer the Gloss Crimson paint again, it’s gorgeous and I get a lot of compliments about it.

John, I enjoyed the overview of the new Roubaix. I still love my 2015 SL4 Disc Comp (white / red accents), not only for its relatively smooth and fast ride but also for its extremely beautiful and flowing frame design. Like a two wheeled Ferrari. By contrast, the newer model with its PAVI seat post design, while likely good at absorbing certain road bumps looks clunky and in my opinion far from the former beauty the older Roubaix models. So I'll wait for another day when Specialized can make the Roubaix both great at absorbing road bumps AND beautifully sleek as well.

My sl4 roubaix rim brake is 6.6kg with pedals. Rides so fast and responsive feeling. IYKYK.
My brand new sl8 sworks tarmac rides so sluggish. The top tube cracked after just 51km of riding lol. Shortest time Ive ever damaged a bike and Ive been riding every tarmac since 2003.
Durability is a HUGE issue with these new bikes. The top tube walls are eggshell thin in some spots. Be careful your bike doesnt fall over.

    I bought a 2021 S Works Diverge for $10k and that could be considered dumb…but $14k for a S Works Roubaix SL8? That’s ludicrously insane!

Not dumb man, consider it investment in your health, health has no price 😉.

So, my 2020 S-Works Roubaix has the more aero CLX50 wheels negating the any SL8 frame advantage, the same seat post, looks basically the same, and it's backwards compatible with the Future Shock 3.0, plus the new one comes only in black and costs $3K MSRP more than mine? I think I'll keep mine and just order the new Future Shock and call it a day.

I love my 2020 Dura-Ace Roubaix! BUT the new SL8 seem more focused to Gravel. Mine is more focused on Tarmac, smoothness and aero with the CLX50 Roval Rims. Will see if it is available also with Dura-Ace for a test ride.... will see :-)

What model of the Roubaix is Sagan riding? Base or the expensive model?

I don't see it that way!
My S-Works from 2020 for 11,000 euros is absolutely worth the price! I am now urgently waiting for S-Works with DuraAce and would gladly pay the high price...

At 1:58 look at the riders forearms. Doesn’t look like much shock dissipation!

Have you ever ridden pave? At higher speed the bigger ones can launch you in the air nevermind arms shaking.

Selling the benefit of going 11 SECONDS faster over 100km (62 miles) is ridiculous!!!! Laughable benefit. And this is from someone who raced Cat 3 road, Cat 1 mountain, and qualified for and completed Hawaii Ironman. I care about speed but that’s just DUMB!!!
I feel bad for the folks that fall for this type of marketing.

    • @robp3431

Agreed, but if the bike is truly more comfortable, then the benefit could be much greater.
