That’s good, that fear is to keep you from doing something stupid that might get you hurt or killed. Irrational fear is the problem cause it entices people to be cruel for no reason. There’s fear “sharks are predators let me not mess around with em and let’s respect them” and there’s irrational fear “sharks are scary so let’s get rid of sharks”. Same goes with water, water is source of life but it will take it from you if you don’t respect it😌
@@dreammaker9642 I respect them, and they are really fascinating but I don't want to be close to them. It's the same with for example tarantulas. They are here for a reason and some of them look really cool but they scare me so much :P
If a person entered your home uninvited you would attack them, well by going in the water were entering their home. One must also remember were part of a greater food chain as well, only were suppose to be smart enough to be safer.
Human beings can enter water, therefore the water is apart of our environment. Sure we're not adapted to the ocean like sharks are, but they have no more "claim" over the whole ocean than humans do, especially since in practice humans are so intelligent that we can literally adapt to nearly any environment through the use of our tools. We're the only species on Earth that can spend an hour in the air, drop to the ocean, and then swim under the ocean for well over an hour, all in one trip, then return to land where we live. That's not mentioning that some humans are even in space right now, and some have been to the damn moon. Our species deserves more credit. Yes sharks live in the ocean, but we are as much a part of nature as anything else that lives on Earth, so we shouldn't deny ourselves access to the ocean just because some other animals are better adapted to it than we are. And we call water with sharks in them "shark infested" because from our perspective it's undesirable to be swimming in an area with sharks in it, when there are other areas without sharks, thus shark infested areas vs non-shark infested areas. I agree sharks shouldn't be made extinct, but I disagree with people saying "shark infested" isn't a valid term, when it really is. This stems from the general issue of many people dissociating themselves from humanity, and further dissociating humanity from nature, it gives rise to some serious self righteous thinking IMO.
I use to bodyboard all my life until one day off Laguna Beach CA, waters were crystal clear about a half a mile out just floating I looked under me to realize there was a giant tiger shark right below me looked about to be 9 feet long in 15-20ft deep It didn't mess with me but I had to wait to catch a wave to get out to shore luckily after just being a floating buoy for a good 5-7minutes and having the shark swim under my feet I some how got away I just remembered "DO NOT PANIC" .. I don't think I panicked because I was frozen and shocked out of my mind 14 years of being in the water daily never felt so scared. The water was so clear I immediately knew what kind of shark it was and Tiger sharks are very aggressive I guess he wasn't hungry lucky me.
That sounds horrifying! Glad you didn’t panic I probably would have& fell off the board. Was your legs hanging off or were you able to fit? Their known to knock people right out of their kayak, so lucky is an understatement 😝
I’m 51 years old and I have always known that the Bahamas has a warmer temperature water and that it was home to several Great White Sharks. So, in your video, you ought to mention that.
Basking sharks are harmless, but I know for a fact if I was swimming in Ireland and I just saw a basking shark beside me, I'd get the fright of my life.
On Christmas day 1995 I was swimming off Ft. Lauderdale beach, Florida. I got out of the water because there were quite a few large Barracuda swimming there, it was only later that I was told that there had been a shark fin quite close to me.
The shark was just looking to listen to some tunes bro he was following the sublime tour.... he smoked two joints before he smoked two joints... and then he smoked two more
The Whale Shark spot is amazing if you have never been you should, they are amazing gentle giants and other-worldly to swim along side! A lifelong surfer I have only truly been close to being a shark snack once - in Florida! A Hammerhead bumped me twice and bit down on my board. I got lucky and rode a wave in and when I was about knee high I turned around and he had followed me and bit my calf. Not like he could have, but bad enough to require a few stitches. He followed us a mile down the coast launching himself out the water onto the sand twice we pushed him back in with my board! He was a chunky 7 feet long, so he was not lacking of food obviously. I would say that Bondi beach is much safer than Florida... they use helicopters, drones and nets. I know sharks can get around the nets but it is not often at all to have a shark attack inside the net. The biggest risk at Bondi is drowning! Usually tourists...
I cant get over how she was pronouncing Bondi haha. The correct pronunciation is Bond eye, not bond e, for future reference, or incase anyone wanted to know haha
Hey there. Really enjoy your channel so much. Just a couple of things. Bondi is pronounced (Bon-Die) not (Bon-Dee) and you had New South Wales and Bondi as separate places when Bondi is in Sydney (the capital of NSW) Apart from that i really enjoyed the list and I had a shark swim underneath when i was underwater when i was a kid and it caused me to have an irrational fear of sharks. Not ideal for an Aussie X(
Kidding, being fearful of sharks will keep from not being their dinner. I almost was once, it hasn't stopped me from surfing- I am just more cautious about where I surf.
I live near the red triangle (Bodega Bay, CA is the nearest beach). I love getting in up to my ankles, but the water is cold in northern CA, so I have not actually swum in it.
To answer two of your questions. "Have I ever swam with sharks?" Heck NO! and "Would I ever feed the sharks?" Hell to the NO!!! lol. Great job as always with you!
I went diving (cage) for 5 days with Great Whites in Guadeloupe and twice without any cages diving with Bull sharks off Playa Del Carmen. No problems. Next on Bucket list is Tiger Sharks in Bahamas. Then Top three most dangerous done, and NOT ONE aggressive Shark incident. They are Awesome, and have more to fear from us. Seeing as we slaughter 100 million a year.
Limit dangerous human and shark interactions through education. While a lot of people act foolishly in the oceans with no respect to appropriate preventative behavior, there is a million percent more people who refuse to go anywhere near the ocean because of their fear of sharks. While I can understand that cautionary fear it also leads to apathy or even disdain to the welfare of sharks, animals that are a crucial component to our planet's ecosystem. From this video it's pretty clear that sharks go where the food is, and while there won't ever be a piece of technology (nets included) to guarantee a swimmer won't get attacked, I believe education is our best defense - both for humans and sharks.
My favorite is the Great White Sharks AKA JAWS. There my favorite because they have no predators, And there big 30 ft body 10,000 lbs, and they are Kings of oceans and APEX PREDATORS
"World's most shark infested waters" Come on its their homeeeee 💕
Katrina’s intro is eerily consistent
“Saying shark infested water is like saying human infested houses its rude they live there”
- smart human
I thought the same thing. The line "Phrasing mother" from Archer came to mind 😂
It's rude? To the sharks? Lol
I think sharks are so cool but I'm scared of them and water in general :P
I totally agree
Same situation
@Terry CarrGood one, the shower isn't scary enough for me not to take care of my hygiene 😅

That comparison makes no sense
Wdym shark-infested? They live there goddammit😭😭😭
El Peluca because humans like to take things over
It’s like saying human-infested city
agree! i hesitated to watch the video because of the title
This is true when you think about it. Maybe the correct term would be highly populated shark areas.
That's like saying a tree infested forest.

There were basking sharks of the coast of Ireland a few weeks ago
Theres loads of basking sharks in cardigan bay Wales
Basking sharks are harmless, but I know for a fact if I was swimming in Ireland and I just saw a basking shark beside me, I'd get the fright of my life.
I want to hug all of the sharks especially the hammer head shark and great white sharks
You do that! They don't want you to hug them!🙄

So why do you think he bit you? Was he mad or curious? We aren't really on shark's menus because we aren't fatty enough.
Those seals are so cute!!
I bet that ,,World's most human infested lands" would sound less offensive 🙂
Poor sharkies 🤷🙄
Sharks are amazing creatures that need to respected. We swim in their habits and close to them every time we enter the water.

Are you "infesting" the house you're living in? No...of course you're not. Because it's your house, and you belong there. Think about it.
I love your videos and if you can do a video on most convincing ghost sittings and Vermont urban legends because that is where I live
well, the sharks live there so its not really infesting

Nurse sharks are no threat to humans, so swimmers checking them out was relatively safe
"Shark infested" is such a bad phrase

To me shark nets are dumb and shouldn’t be in the water if you don’t wanna get attacked by a shark don’t swim that’s their home not ours

I agree with El peluca, the sharks live in the ocean, so it’s not shark infested. Maybe it could be changed to human infested.
If it’s called shark infested seas then are homes called human infested homes
