Back in the 60’s my dad would take a group of us Boy Scouts there for a week every summer from SanDiego. We would cast tiny gold/red Super Duper’s downstream and pull them back through the riffles. We lost a lot of lures but it was worth it cause we got limits. An old timer showed us how to catch the big ones in lake, by trolling’Cow Bells’ with night crawlers. The trick was to be on the lake at dawn and troll along the edge of the shadow the mountain to the east made on the lake as the sun got higher. Two - five pounders. Great memories.
State of California isn't stocking trout as much as they used too due to budget cuts etc,...just saying they probably aren't putting as many fish in the Sierra waters and that's a shame.
Pretty sure they’re technically legally obligated to stock a certain amount since it’s funded by fishing license sales but I bet they’ve found a way around that or are just stocking the bare minimum

Great spots on Convict Creek....grandson caught his first trout in 2017 approx. 1.5 lbs. Granddaughter caught a small brown.

Get ready for lots of people.
tree house garage was up in bishop last week was a great time but be prepared for mosquitoes right now
Convict Creek reminds me of Hat Creek in Northern California.
Can't even find parking there anymore.
Easy fishing area,not enough challenge
Pogi, you sound like an expert. We hope to see you there next time so you can show us more tricks.
