"You see this water? It will all be mine. And you will give it to me," Desmond said, staring out at the vast sea. Here I was, standing on a ship in the middle of nowhere with a self-obsessed freak who had kidnapped me and dragged me into this madness. I’d known him long enough to understand how far he’d go to get something he wanted. I hated this man’s guts. Just the feel of him standing next to me irked me to no end. I glanced up at him, studying his face. He wanted my powers. He was going to sacrifice my life for this sea, for this thing he claimed to own. And I couldn’t do a single thing to stop him. Until a thought suddenly crossed my mind. Without thinking, I grabbed the back of his shirt and shoved him hard. Desmond tumbled over the railing, arms flailing, and hit the water below with a loud splash. "I REALLY HATE YOU, DESMOND!" I yelled as he splashed around in the sea, shouting for the captain to stop the ship. I smirked in satisfaction. Serves him right for trying to sacrifice my life. I knew he’d manage to get back onto the ship-this was nothing for him. Sure enough, the captain eventually hauled him out of the water. Dripping wet, Desmond stormed past me with darkened eyes. "Someone’s angry," I teased with a chuckle. He stopped abruptly, turning to face me. His voice dropped to a whisper, the words cutting into me like shards of ice. "You’re quite bold for someone who destroyed an entire town simply by following my orders," he murmured. My smirk faded instantly as his words struck a raw nerve. I clenched my fists. The memories clawed at me-I was such a fool back then. "You’re so cruel," I murmured, the words slipping out without thought. "You, of all people, should know that best, Serena," he replied, his tone dark and taunting. And with that, he left me standing there, seething in silence. I will get your heart, Desmond-the organ-and I’ll decorate it inside a jar labeled “NINCOMPOOP.”
