Bro Larry Bird is the creator and master of the step back. That's why he was breaking so many ankles. Nobody could block Larry's patented step back. Larry was unstoppable.
I wouldn't stress about the pauses. Most of us don't mind when reactors who are new to Larry take a sec to let it sink in, what they just saw and rewind for a second look.
As a Celtic/ bird fan the one thing that ALL reviewers miss/don't know is that the opening of this video was not a halftime game it was a sold-out Boston Garden Just for a retirement party for bird and was several hours long!!!! what other players have had their # retied that way?? GOAT.
He could drop people with that step back *because* he was such a threat in every way. Scoring, passing, faking - he had so many “weapons” in his arsenal, the defenders were on hair-trigger edge trying to anticipate *everything* all at one.
There's an old saying," Michael Jordan made you look slow, but Larry Bird made you look stupid."He is easily a top five player all time. This dude even made all-defensive teams. He could dominate a game by taking only 12 shots. He'd have 16 rebounds, 13 assists, 4 steals, 3 blocks, and hit the dagger three at the end to seal the win. While psychologically destroying the opposing team with his futuristic trash talk.
@@JGreaxctshe broke his right cheek when his face hit the floor and the night before that game he spent it in the hospital in traction because his back was broken.
The thing a young person misses most in this is - that game where Bird breaks his face and comes back - There were only 4 TV stations at the time. 2 would have been running infomercials and another had church services. My point is that everybody saw it because there was nothing else on to watch. When you went to school/work the next day it's what everybody was talking about because everybody watched.
My husband & I would always make it to at least one game vs the Celtics at MSG (we're Knicks fans) and we usually left moaning about Bird - he was amazing to see in person and there were times when you just couldn't believe what you'd just witnessed. It's so much fun watching you younger guys discovering his greatness. Enjoy! Loving the reactions!
Another good reaction. Bro when you're picking your jaw off the floor you can and should rewind to watch in amazement again. Lol. And don't apologise for pausing, virtually all reactors do and they rewind alot but the viewers don't mind. We've watched the video lots from other reactors but still like watchin you young heads watching stuff from our era, I'm 50 btw 😂
Great reaction young fella! Not only is Bird the coldest white boy to do it, he is the coldest player to ever do it! He is the greatest ALL-AROUND player to ever pick up a basketball!! And the truly amazing thing is that he was never fully healthy for one game of his NBA career, having mangled his finger on his shooting hand before signing his rookie contract with the Celtics!!! Despite that, he led the Celtics to 32 more wins in his rookie season than they had the year before with the same players and later on he became the originator of the 50/40/90 Club. He actually averaged a 50/40/90 over a 4 year span. Keep learning about Bird's game, toughness, loyalty, unselfishness, clutchness and the legendary stories....I GUARANTEE THAT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!! Much love and respect 🤙
Loved your reaction. For beautiful basketball like you’ve never seen, check out the 1992 Dream Team documentary. 11 future Hall of Famers. Larry and Magic were co-captains. Everyone was glued to their TVs whenever they played. It was a surreal time. If you choose to react to it, because it’s a little over an hour, either do it in one shot (those who did loved it). Or no more than 2 parts. Those who do 3 or more, you can’t find all of the parts. Also, last time both Larry and Magic played
When his face hit the floor he fractured his right cheek. What they don't tell you is the night before this game his back was hurting so bad he spent the night in the hospital in traction. He struggled getting dressed for that game. Then comes back with a fractured cheek. Larry never took pain killers or shots his entire career.
now that you see enough of Larry Bird highlights , you need to check out (THE 5 TIMES LARRY BIRD PLAYED HURT AND REFUSED TO QUIT) and try to figure out how he put up all those numbers with all those injuries. Another one is (THE 4 TIMES lARRY BIRD PROVED HE WAS THE TOUGHEST NBA PLAYER)
Enjoying the ride, I see… That next drop is a doozy, so hold on tight, ok?! Now, at some point, someone will recommend “HOW LARRY BIRD MADE A PLAYER ALMOST COMMIT SUICIDE!” For the most part, it’s an audio clip of a player telling his Bird story, and it’s fire. There are several videos out there, each with their own breakdown of the story. Most of them ruin it with their narration, even telling the whole story before the player gets to tell it himself. If you plan to react to it, may I suggest this one in particular, since it’s not stepped on. “ua-cam.com/video/rzgXzwZBZgk/v-deo.html” It’s audio only, which I think is better since you’re not distracted by all of the clips and it’s easier to stay focused on the story. Believe me, listening to this dude is entertaining enough. It takes a little over a minute before it gets to the good stuff, but I promise, you’ll be on the floor holding your gut in laughter well before the end.
yeah bird's trash talk was that he'd tell you the shot he was going to take, where he was going to take it, and then he'd do it that's why all the pros say he's the best trash talker of all time he backed his shit up, it wasn't just some vulgar shit
Magic & Larry, resurrected the game of basketball...My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted...What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who wasn't only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, football, baseball, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, & what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique & gifted players, I ever watched! Larry was athletic. He justr wasnt the fastest at full speed. His 1st step and fakes were wicked, his footwork perfect and hand probably the best hand eye coordination of any player ever(Bobby Knight). I legit 6'10" and could play point or center with unlimited range.

Great argument for GOAT status
What you missed was when Larry came back to play against the pacers, he had a fractured right cheek and a concussion

Notice on many of those he looks right at the other guy before he takes the shot. Just adding insult to injury.
You just reacted to

Every time he does something that you're like "ok, that's the best one" about a minute and a half later you see something else and say the same thing.
