I miss my 05 escape XLT V6.. had 230,000 miles when it when it completely gave out due to the rust getting to it. I currently have a 2006 Mercury Mariner hybrid. Love it.
Have owned this car since we bought it brand new in 2005 and can honestly state it has been an excellent vehicle. Currently has 175K miles on it and never had a major problem. There were two recalls that were taken care of promptly. Love the 30mpg we get everywhere. And its all wheel drive system will take you places we have seen 4x4 trucks unable to climb. Our only really complaints are with the quality of some of the interior panels and materials. These have shown damage from sun and heat far faster than a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo we also own, with both having been parked in the sun just as much. The headliner, sun visors, and vinyl and leather parts of the interior should have been of much better quality. But for a car that is 13 years old it is still in great condition.
roketfingers-Thank you! I've had mine for four years now,and it's been a great car.The only other rust issue is with the spare tire.I'm thinking of trying to enlarge the well behind the rear seats to fit the spare tire.
My buddy got one of these that exact trim, color with roof racks, 111k miles for 1500$ he beat the shit out of it & it started knocking- we found out a way to keep the engine from turning off & on to hybrid mode by keeping the defrost on so I’d switch it to defrost before the light turned green to prevent lag it was a really good car & he didn’t take care of it whatsoever. Offroaded the shit out of it with that cvt and only 127 lbt 5 people in mud

2005 Ford Escape's sudden engine failure due to faulty factory installed spark plugs. Not a safety issue says Ford. Search for 2005 Ford escape problems before you drive it. With a $2,600 average repair cost. I am now waiting for the PCM Ford has had on backorder for 6 years. Goes to show how big the problem is. I feel the chances of finding Osama Bin Laden's body might be better. They can't even tell me how long it could take. Thanks for the 3,000 lb paperweight that I can't drive now FORD.
my escape has been one issue after another, ive dumped $3700 into it and it still continuosly has issues, im only at 68k miles i dont offroad i always clean it and keep maintence up to date i dont know what i could possibly be doing wrong
I have two escapes, the 2002 v6 model which currently has 212k miles and the 2003 4 cylinder which has 220k miles. Both with original engine and transmission. They're great cars. Just take care of them and they will take care of you.

If you don't mind my asking, what were the recalls for?
@@markmorris3579 sub frame replacement most probably, all escapes from that Gen had the prematurely rusting subframe
roketfingers-You're right.I have the 05 and mine has rusted bad,and the passenger side rear wheel well is gone.I don't know yet if I'll fix it or not.
@@markmorris3579 just to let you know they're great winter beaters. I had my subframe replaced in my 01, never had any other serious problems with it

I have a '05 Ford Escape Limited with a V6 with 199,000 miles on the SUV. I love mine
Just bought this. Love it.
I really wish they never removed the column mounted shifter.

Great Car
I'm confused. Does the hybrid just come on or do u switch it on?
It comes on. And goes off on it’s own.
You can switch it on & off yourself by putting the defroster on
gas mileage? km/l

Almost 180k on the original I4 motor and automatic transmission in mine. It's all about maintenance and care.
