The obvious enthusiasm of the prison officer to give you a detailed description was "very inspiring"!! He absolutely has the right temperament for his chosen profession!! 😊
Well good for the second guy how things changed when he turned up. He made the visit worthwhile for you . Loads of info. Very decent bloke. So all in all a great video Kev and not forgetting TGA
This ones only 10 mins from me 😮 what a brilliant video and listening to the history of Bar-l some really violent people in there, 🙏🙏🙏 the 1st screw thought he was a bit harsh, that 2 screw was very informative with information. Really enjoying your Scottish tour video's Kev and TGA, the 2nd guy certainly saved the day on this one 😂😂😂 massive respect to you both 🙏🙏🙏🙏
That Audit was your best so far. That second guy was very very helpful. He totally understood why you were there. You need guys like that everywhere you Audit
I spent 18 years in and out of Bar L. When I was younger You spent the night there and the next day you got shipped to Longgragend YO's Institution for a remand until you went to court. If you got a sentence you went to Polmont YO's, that was a Shit Hole! When you turned 21 you were a hairy arse Con and this is where you went Bar L. Anyway, I've been out now for over 12 years and I ain't going back neither.
I’m 52 mate and did the same Bar then Longriggend and between Polmont and Glenochil as a YO before I started going up Low Moss but that’s when I was a daft boy, fuck going back at this age, jails for youngsters
I'm 55 and have spent 20 years of my life going in and out of Scottish jails. I tend to use the word jail when referring to my periods of incarceration. Times I spent in these institutions plays heavy in my mind. Yes, it is not for man of my age. They should not be glammourised.
First ever time getting a remand mate I thought i was just going to longgrigend ru,😂obviously back then ye were handcuffed to other guys in the van,a didn't pay much attention to where we were going but a thought it's taking some fuckin time fae airdrie sheriff to long, the boy a was handcuffed tae a knew his brother well and he was well quoted,so I thought itl be sound, till the van stopped and it was fuckin bar a was at😂,not afraid to say I kinda shat myself, the boy says you will brand new,the dug boxes and the mystery bowl is murder but,a thought wtf is that, then ye experience it,its fuckin indescribable init, when ye get took to long yer thinking thank fuck, tae after the 7 day ly down then I got get full committed,😂didnae stop me for a few year right enough but fuck that el shite now mate😂
Glad you ran into an officer who was happy to give you some history and advice about ones worth visiting. Used to live on Lethamhill Road with a view of the prison walls and walked round the walls to reach Smithycroft High School.
This is likely the only opportunity of a lifetime I get to view HMP Barlinnie (and not get in trouble). 😁 Closure date likely depends on the 2025 completion of the new L100 million HMP Glasgow off Royston Road, north end of Provan Gas Works. Oct 2022 street view shows Kier commencing earthwork on the 54 acre site. Initial planning was August 2020 with addition building planning through 2023.
Good film that is a sense of freedom kev true story as well ive got that on dvd like nice bloke he was definitely the best one up to now great that was till the next one 👍
I find it absolutely incredible that you go to these places and then wonder why people quite rightly confront you when are openly walking about with a camera. The staff have every right to ask why you are there. This has less to do With auditing and more about trying to get a rise out of people.
Had the pleasure of both B and D halls on my 6 month holiday, the architecture inside is magnificent, the chapel is a listed building i believe. I see Barlinnie like Germany, ive been to both once, no desire to return ..the screws knew I was a first timer as I was wearing a tie😁
The first security guard was a bit clueless but was professional enough. The second guard was friendly and professional and a credit to the prison service. The woman guard was a clueless fool who hopefully has learned a valuable lesson.
There are no HMP prisons in Dublin. HMP stands for Her/His Majesty's Prison and the monarchy of England or it's government has no jurisdiction in Ireland.
Fantastic Audit guys. The boss was a right glesga man .Down to earth. Genuine and open. Has time for UA-cams. He had alot of knowledge to share with you guys. Have a fantistic time in Scotland guys. Big respect from Scotland ❤🏴❤️
Been in & out of this place for about 15 years but not been back in for about 12 years now and it looks good out side but not inside it's filthy thats why it is being closed down but they cannot demolish it as the prison halls are some listed buildings love that job your doing love to watch prison documentaries
Packed jail with way to many con's in one jail BarL has always been over-crowded,great video second screw was ok than the first Robot. Funny knowing you were going up there " you could no wait cos sat downstairs in court done Yir NUT right-in" funny old game back in the early 80 s, great video .... THANKS 🤩
Good video man, you should do more Scottish jail's, you said how sps Barlinnie is the largest jail in Scotland population wise, you said at time of recording there was 1008 prisoners in bar_l but maximum capacity was over 1500, There's one jail in Scotland that beats that bro, (FACT.CHECK) The Largest jail in Scotland is SPS (ScottishPrisonService) HMPYOI POLMONT in Falkirk, Im'a 28yr Scots Lad & i had my first Taste weeks after my 16th Birthday to 12 Moon sentence in Polmont bk in 2011, Since then I've done 9 years all in, 4 different stays in sunny SPS costa Del Soul's (HMP_Perth_HMPYOI_POLMONT _HMP_BARLINNIE_HMP_GLENOCHHILL) OVER 30 times in & out, defo not a way of life, but we all have are circumstances, but yeah bk in my time Polmont was a scary Y.O'S, before HMP Grampian opened in 2017-2018, & became 1/3% of a Y.O'S, Women's & Cons (OVER21-CON) (UNDER21_YOI) HMP_CORNTONVALE the only woman's jail in Scotland at that time, the same as HMPYOI Polmont was only under 21 boys in scotland, they only took one type of prisoner since time began, they ruined it when they opened Grampian, moved woman, under and over 21's, remand and convicted, up there then they shut down Corntonvale and moved the rest of woman ages 16-99 to polmont, it was weird corntonvale just got finished a £5million pound revamp for them that same year, five mill bill paid like cheers guys, then bang closed down with minimal movement's , but point is when I was there doing my stay, I done over four years in Polmont and was Starred up by the time i hit the Cons, whole new kettle oh fish but its good, I've been mainstream aww Ma Days, Fk aww use PRO'S & SEMI_PRO'S, (Protection_case)ID'RatherASoreFaceThanARedFace, bk in my time in plomont so 2011-2018 the Gen pop was over 1600 Y.O/PRISONERS But Maximum Capacity was 1800 people ie

I much prefer your videos when you go with TGA and not the others. You are both professional and pleasant but not when you go as a group. Great informative, interesting video Kev
I was in D-hall while the hangman's cell was still there on the second flat, they took it away as the bottom flat was converted into the reception in 92 whilst the original reception was being converted, not much if a cobverst😢,it's basically stayed the same, anyone for a mystery bowl🤣🤣
The first officer “screw” I hope that he had taken in the lesson on how to deal with public and not jump to conclusions. The second Officer was exceptional in his conduct non judgmental and very engaging.
There building the new Bar L . at the other side of the M74 i ment the M8 where the big blue Gas tanks are or where there. Hope to see you down in London 27th july
The officer in the black jacket is awesome. Very respectful and he was very interesting and knows a few interesting facts. Fair play to him, spot on.. It makes me laugh that people assume we , the audience , like the ignorant, arrogant, tyrant videos but people like this man, proud, respectful, knowledgeable etc... is what alot of us really like. Great audit mate.
People think the second officer is good. He is just a different type. Always talking but always taking in information. Killing them with kindness. But still as corrupt as every other scottish prison officer.
People may think the first guy was a bit offish … But as a Proud Scotsman i can tell you he was being nice 😉👍🏽 The second Officer was absolutely too notch … What a pleasure it is to see such a well informed and welcoming attitude … A credit to SPS and a masterclass in how to deal with the public in every encounter 👍🏽
The road leading to the prison (lee avenue) is a private road owned by the prison so technically he is right you should ask for permission before filming...the road used to be closed one day a year.. some kind of legal thing.. the hall you were looking at (D hall) was where the gallows were for hangings
Go to Inveraray Jail, its a museum but set up is amazing, takes u thru a set up courtroom with seating, dummies both lawyers and visitirs, u can take photos.....walk thru to jail with set up and dummies, outside cells and a real warden, dummy animals outside and into the end building where prisoner in a bath and sitting on a toilet but last building is for insane.....from beginning to end, taped voices n screaming......actual recordings of real court cases in courtroom.....u finish in a gift shop.......best museum n set up ive ever seen.....been 3 times its that good..... The second prison officer knows the score and he gets a lot of respect. Because if you give respect you get it in return. Top bloke.
The obvious enthusiasm of the prison officer to give you a detailed description was "very inspiring"!! He absolutely has the right temperament for his chosen profession!! 😊
Thankyou for that!
Mr Ramsey was a P.o of repute in D/Gavel.

And yes "Scum" starring Ray Winstone remains a cult classic! Even though it is over 40 years ago, it still literally "packs a punch"!!

Going back a few years there. 4 of you stuffed in a "Dog Box" (Dug Boax) Those were the days.
I got a look into the hanging shed in D-Hall back in 96. Screws were taking photos of themselves posing in it before it was demolished. They weren't best pleased when I was spotted staring in. Can still see it.
I never knew the hanging cell was demolished. I was next door to the condemned cell in the mid eighties, which I am sure was the first flat in D hall. The hall you can see at the front of the jail
I remember reading a book the the ghosts seen in Scottish prisons when I was in A hall years later. A good read it was too!
