It's so disheartening to listen to this...and realize how good this man can be, when it comes to trance....and then, take a listen to one of his newer tracks, in his "alternate" style and just think to yourself: "He went nuts". I still remember his words, can't recall if they were from an interview or something else....but he stated that, and i quote: "Trance is no longer a challenge for me. Making trance is easy, i could make a trance track in a few minutes". The words aren't exactly his words but you get the point. Anyway, would it be that hard to just take 10 minutes once a month and make a good, proper trance track? Just like this one? Since it's no longer a challenge then it must be easy for you, no?
I'm actually sad while writing these lines. He was and still is (the dumb fuck) my top 3 best trance artists of all time.

Can he not do what he wants ? He doesn't need make trance if he doesn't want to ; just to try and keep his niche trance fan base happy ?...I love Leon and he is by a mile my favourite trance artist of all time, but don't hate on an artist you used to love just because he/she decides to change style or break into a more commercialised sound to try and appeal to a wider fan base...if your manager told you you could make it bigger, make more cash & appeal to a bigger audience by changing your sound to a more commercial sound would you not take that opportunity too ? I'm sure his heart is still in trance but is head is saying grab the opportunity with both hands, and rightly so. It's the same with Armin, trance fans hate on Armin now because he realised he could make big money in the music industry at the cost of changing music style...and look what he's done for electronic music, Armada is the biggest music label in the world...I can only feel happy for him espeically since he still sticks to his roots with his weekly ASOT show that he continues to do every week...anyway I actually enjoy quite a few of Leon's more recent tracks, they aren't all EDM generic crap, lots of his tracks post 2013 still have great melodies and rich leads, but I do admit I do miss a lot of his older tracks, the real stuff.

Back then DJs and producers weren't paid as celebrities, so with which other purpose they would play music if not passion?
It all happened in 2009, when David Guetta started mixing with pop artist.
That year electronic music in general went commercial and swallow, affecting all sub-genres by equal.

It's one of the better albums, but best? I think the first In search of Sunrise is better. That one is an all time classic.

No one can take away the fact that Leon Bolier made this track, no matter how much he has deviated from this elevated style of music. I miss the good old days, when trance caused your skin to tingle and sent shivers down your spine.

That was in the days when Leon was into trance. Made some great tunes, came even up with 2 albums. Got them both, Pictures and Phantasma. Ocean Drive Boulevard, Ye, I Finally Found, That Morning. And after that came then Staircase and Elysian Fields, before he hopped on the trouse bandwagon. Really too bad.
