They've changed some dialogues and events compared to the classic animation to make Ariel look strong and independent and they had to show the diverse people at the end cause of today's standards (they probably got solid payment for that). If all that wasn't in the movie and they stick to the original it was gonna be a decent movie even with Halle as Ariel.
