Good point. Mainly because i wanted to use a variety of drill bit sizes easily, which is why most drill presses have a chuck. Otherwise id have to buy many many collet sizes.

Hi! Could you add a tutorial for making a mini table saw? I like the way you design and solve the manufacturing troubles along the way! Congratulations! New subscriber.
Good question. You have a few options. You could add a lead screw/nut in between the rails and fix the nut to the motor mount and use the same crank system I have. Or you could use a more traditional lever on a pivot where the lever would have a long slot in it that would connect to a pin/bolt coming off of the motor mount. The final solution is just to fix a handle directly to the motor and literally push it up down along the rails. In the lever case and the fixed handle case, I would spring load the motor into the upmost position.
Thanks. Keep building.
You need more subscribers. Keep up the great work. +1
Great job Eric! Keep it up
Keren lanjutkan kreasinya bos alatnya makin kuat dan canggih
Nice job Eric!
I'm totally envious of your z-axis. So compact and chunky compared to the Openbuilds style :)
add a cutting fluid line... :) Cool build. I'm going to do one yeah me.
next think to build: a stronger work bench
Parabéns! Excelente trabalho.
Forgot to say a huge thanks for sharing the STLs for the gears! What screw diameter are they designed for?
Hell yea, did you just use the extra parts from the cnc upgrade videos?
Very solid design. What kind of motor did you use?
Why would you sacrifice the low runout of an er collet chuck, for a wobbly quick release chuck?

Good 👍👍👍
The first 2 minutes made me want to cry
Nice drill press, subscribed. We posted this video on our homemade tools forum this week :)
Thats awesome thank you! I will have more tools coming like a homemade hand drill and maybe eventually a mini lathe!

How would this work with the rails? I get how to mount the motor, but how would you interface with your hand crank?

That’s a great build. Can’t wait to see the mini-lathe! Are you thinking direct or belt drive?
Muito boa a idéia,parece ser bem preciso!!
Do you sell this on ebay?
🔝
What tool and die brand are you using? I'll pay for good tools.
I have a dewalt tap and die set, i broke one of the small taps already, but in general the set has done me well
