    What a stunning presentation my friend. This was filmed and edited professionally, opening shots are breathtaking!

    I have enjoyed …past, present and future …all of Your videos. I wish often not to be a Flatlander at 95 feet on the Gulf Coast and to enjoy the summit hikes. I’m the one that did not acclimate yet made it to the hut at the “Keyhole”on my first 14er… or anything over 9000 feet. Easily did Guadalupe Peak in Texas as a warmup. It was easy. My body simply said, “Nope, no more on Longs or it will be a bad day.” I was 62 at the time and have run 16 marathons. Thanks for listening Sir. I enjoy Your videos.

      Think I may try to snag this soon too - never hiked in Texas so could be cool.

    Nice vids and commentary. Might try these. The knife edges reminds me of the Palisades with those crappy loose rocks to scramble.

    Can't believe you did Montgomery! I did Boundary in July 2013 with more daylight length and couldn't even imagine taking on more. It took me 12 hours 7 am to 7 pm. But I was also in my 50s. Glad you brought the first aid stuff. Hope you get a chance to do more California peaks: White, Telescope, Whitney. Baxter Pass if you really want punishment.

    Been on Boundary a couple of times the trail gets quite convoluted in places thats for sure. Haven't done Montgomery sort of wanted to, from Boundary looked more difficult than what you made it look plus was a little tired, maybe next time if I feel the need to challenge myself again on all that loose terrain.

  • @ThatOneDudeNick

    I did this earlier this year. My current highest peak (but definitely not the most fun). I'm not a hardcore hiker or anything, but that loose stuff beat me up pretty good. I didn't even consider doing Montgomery at the time, I kind of wish I did it since I never want to return lol.

    • @TheVirtualsherpa

      The loose trail there is NO joke. I have hiked A LOT of mountains and this easily lands in some of the worst I have done. Congrats on the summit though!

    Glad you made out ok after your fall, but it goes to show how critical having the right medical supplies is when you're doing hikes like this. Great video as always.

      100% - have carried one for years but never had to use it luckily. Have cut down on what I have carried over the past few years but luckily, this still makes the cut. Even just a basic one can make a massive difference, especially when this remote.

      @@TheVirtualsherpa It's ironic that's the first thing I thought of when I saw where you were and when you mentioned where you were. That terrain was so shady looking. I appreciate you taking the time to include all the detail. Safe travels my friend.

    I’ve been watching your videos for a long time, really enjoyed the last two (state high point videos)… probably will tag those soon! Please come to Idaho and do Borah Peak, I’m curious what you will think! I have a video up on my channel if you are curious about what it’s like!😁

      Idaho / Montana / Wyoming - will hopefully be the focus in 2023. Any good shoulder season hikes near Sun Valley you recommend? Heading there soon

    • @shelbynjakesdad
      @shelbynjakesdad 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheVirtualsherpa we really didn’t have a shoulder season this year, it’s pretty much winter already in the high country.😕 The Pioneer mountains near Sun Valley are my favorite in the state, Cobb, Old Hyndman, and Hyndman (video on my channel) are absolutely incredible peaks… but like I said, it’s already winter up high, so you’d need snow gear pretty much everywhere in the high country.

      Devils Bedstead East is a monster Pioneer peak and an amazing climb in the summer. Highly recommended.

    Sorry to post another comment, but I have a specific question. At 12:25, when you talk about Class 3 scrambling, is this an example of that?

    • @TheVirtualsherpa
      @TheVirtualsherpa  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Zach - nope that is class 2. Class 3 typically requires the use of both your hands and feet to climb or downclimb it. While awkward, that section is only class 2. You can read more about the system here: thevirtualsherpa.com/yds-class-system-explained/

  • @pw2883
    @pw2883 2 роки тому

    Hi Sherpa! It seems to me this is one of your tamer hikes/climbs - almost routine for you.
    I think it is time you graduate to the world’s truly epic mountains - Everest, K2, Denali, Matterhorn, Kilimanjaro, Fuji, etc.
    Do you have plans to challenge yourself on more difficult mountains?

    • @TheVirtualsherpa
      @TheVirtualsherpa  2 роки тому +1

      Believe it or not, I have actually done Kilimanjaro although it was quite some time ago: www.thevirtualsherpa.com/mount-kilimanjaro-hike-review/
      To be frank, I would love to go after some bigger objectives but those involve a lot of money and a lot of free time. As much as I love putting out content for the channel, its not nearly to the point where I could even sniff the costs of what it would take to climb an Everest, K2 etc.
