Mirror blades are probably the best option right now. Expression is definitely more expensive, but I think of them as a $100 art blade and a $400 light show, but supporting Expression is a major feature of Foo Premium over Pro. Expression is already designed for the Foo LE games. Rush took a year for the expression kits to come out for the Pro/Premiums. I'm hoping Stern's factory expansion will open up an extra production line for the accessories to come out sooner.
Rexer, congrats on the Foo Fighters pinball. I want this one myself but might have to settle for the pro. I'm saving up the cash to purchase hopefully by the end of the year I'll be able to get one.
@@Jason_C1978 well this is where you get something different and then years down the road you trade. 😂best of both worlds. You get the Godzilla , he has foos , now you both have great pins.
@@Jason_C1978 For Foo Fighters, I wouldn't consider the Pro as large of a compromise. Gameplay-wise, you miss the upper playfield, and the dead post. Both are adequately substituted by software. Important, but kinda cosmetic: No expression light option for pro... Almost everything else is cosmetic: the overlord figure with its magnet to shake the ball, the van figure (Marco may carry stock part, or aftermarket mods exist), and the different cab/translight art. Jack Danger designed the Pro to keep play as unchanged as possible while meeting the price target.
I think i have several of the mods you selected. Nice to see them in action. I ordered the headphone plate, Titan rubbers, and the similar speaker kit from Pinball life. Pink rubbers look cool. I'm trying glow in the dark.
@@therexershow Yeah. That's where I saw it first. Fits the alien theme well. Pink pops. I like it. Surprised they didn't have the other rings in pink. A few of the rings/posts looked like they take some effort to change. I'm at least doing the flippers, slings, and the posts that flank a ramp to start with, if I don't do the whole set. I was hearing the same thing someone else posted about the silicone rings keeping the game cleaner longer (and replacing the stock balls). Enjoy those Foos!
Man thats one beautiful pinball machine and I am not even a fan of the Foo Fighters. The mods are really tasteful and set off the pinball machine, very functional. Get better balls, do it for the playfield!
It might be a good idea to change all of the black rubber post protectors. Stern's black rubber really gets on the ball and everywhere else. You'll likely notice your pink flipper rubbers getting black rather quickly. I like the alternative use for the headphone mod.
I have to see what other pink posts need covering . I might do the slings too. Titan didn’t have the plastic pink post covers but the balls don’t hit those. Thanks for watching.
It's actually not so much the black rubber as it is the coils emitting "dust" from the metal shaft smacking into the coil stops which are made of a metallic carbon formulation that is magnetic and can be easily cleaned up with a micro fiber towel just lightly ran across the playfield with no pressure, and then naphtha on rubbers and posts to clean up the black debris. The reason 😊 uses black posts and rubbers is to minimize the dirty look made from lack of cleaning, and changing out old pinballs regularly. The pinballs in games should be swapped out every 1k games at minimum. They bang around on metal and pickup tiny shavings then rolling them around your playfield m>%8ches into the Clearcoat, On wireforms , ramps, ball guides, etcetera
Those mirror blade screws got me a few weeks ago! I should have watched an install video or two before I tried but I thought how hard could it be, lol. I had to have a guy friend of mine tighten them up for me.
They are really cool , and as long as you have the side protectors , the screws don’t get in the way . I think I’m sticking with the mirrors instead of expression lighting.
There are no circumstances under which a legal warranty can be revoked with a sticker. This means that a “warranty void” sticker shouldn't be enforceable-even if you damage one part of your device while working on it, the rest of it should be protected by the legal guarantee. The FTC has reinforced this multiple times. If Stern tries to claim otherwise, get it in writing and send it to the FTC.
Great Mods Rex, this isn’t my fathers pinball machine. I have an older Bally machine and the only things ever done might be changing a light or replacing a bumper. I don’t have enough belief in my mechanical abilities to take a drill to a new Stern machine. Although I’m amazed at the amount of wires running through a 1976 machine. It’s a 4 player machine and each score is changed by a giant wheel (hoping you can envision it) player one is having an issue with the 10 thousandth wheel isn’t turning. Any idea on where any idea on how to fix? I agree with waiting to change the fan because of breaking warranty. I was curious if you can add any music tracks? I’m guessing No, but would be cool if you could add future tracks. I’ve always liked Dave Grohls voice. I have always been a big Bob Seger fan and when I first heard Dave sing with Nirvana it made me think of Seger. Grohl being a more complete musician.
He’s definitely a complete musician. People will make “hacks” where you can change the music but again. I’m not sure how it’s done, but it would be something I would try myself if I knew , because I think you can always reinstall the original code back. You should take the score mechanism off and investigate. It could be one simple part to replace. Or I’m sure the easy way would be to just replace the whole counter wheel. Seems like a fun project for you and Dan next time he is over. 😂😂
I'm so close to finishing my full sized VP. I'm have been looking at many real tables to decide on the framing. Nice table. It would be nice to have at least 1 real, but I like my vp because I get bored quick on themes due to my ADHD, so having multiple works better for me. Newbie. What is the flashing green button for? Only bad thing about light kit for speakers it can reduce the quality of the sound, due to vibration cancellation. Sorry, my audiophile it rearing it's ugly head.
Yeah. The way they are mounted can impact that with the plastic housing. Which flashing green button? I loved my upright VPIN. I would do a regular VPIN now but I don’t want to take on another project.
@@therexershow very cool. Yes I am now up to 5 pins and def can’t get anymore until I move stuff out. I find kinda weird that KONG got the same pinball. And why are Kong, Consolekit, MichaelB, Cooltoys and the whole gang got pinball. Was there a Stern special in exchange for advertisement?
No idea. I was surprised that of all the pins that some of these guys chose Foos. I’m a huge Foos fan so it was no brainer. Why they are getting into pinball with such a rush is beyond me.
Hi rexer nice Pinbal machine I have a marvel avengers stern pinball I really wanted the ford Mustang I believe it the 40 anniversary edition missed out on it I really want to buy a second one
$40 Dollars. You know you by that exact same material at walmart for $10. Sure you don't get all the color variety or the logo, but what I am saying if you spend $4000 or more what is $40 more. Forget what I was saying! That was kind of a dumb thing to say :). I am cheap :)
Convenience is always worth money. I'm sure there is an easier cheaper option. Get a huge sheet of it, and cut it to scale. i'm sure id mess up the first few times. But I get it. Pinball is definitely not a hobby for you if you never want to spend money...:-)
Headphone/volume control and speaker light kit are must haves imho. Well done and looking great 👍
Totally agree.
Looking great. Nice mods.
I know the expression lighting side blades look great but I kinda like the mirror effect of yours. I like how the lights bounce off of them.
