Yes great job... before people dives into this Entity Framework issues its good to see & learn the old method. Its good for old school Asp and php programmers :)
Well, the tutorial is great. As an experienced programmer in ASP pages, I can't understand why in the Razor pages we have to link the controllers in an "old" method. I did it with the previous versions. Now I just connect to the database once and set up the controllers on the pages.
Great Video!!! Just a question though. How do you reference the Id in the EDIT OnGet SQL Query when it is hidden on the main page. That is, I want to hide the Id on the main page, but use it in the update page
href="/Clients/Edit?id=@item.id" this part of the Edit button on the main page is where it is referenced for your edit page. This really tripped me up because I didn't add ?id=@item.id on the main page.

Sir it is a wonderful tutorial ... i am working on razor pages for the 1st time. can you kindly tell me if you have a tutorial on Authentication and authorization such that two users with same roles cant alter eachother records.
Great tutorial. Thanks. One question. The bootstrap styles are applying to the master layout page, but not the individual razor pages. Am I doing something wrong?
kudos for the excellent tutorial. I had a problem when I run the application the client table was not detected. It happens when I go to the "while" loop.
I've tried several times to apply this technique to my current project, by following the video step-by-step, sentence-by-sentence, but when I click the new page, it just shows the page title, column headings, and the button to add a new record. (It doesn't display the existing records from my SQL Server table. Everything else works perfectly up to that point while following the instructions in the video.) I have been trying to figure out what I'm missing for days now. Any hints would be much appreciated.
I was having the same issue, check that the "String connectionString = "Data Source=.\\[your server connection data source *must be copied from properties, not title of database*]" and "String sql = "SELECT * FROM [name of your table]";" statements are correct
start the project in debugging mode and you will see exactly what the errors are, took me a while to figure since I am new, for me it had to do with the security certificate, if its the same for you try adding "Trust Server Certificate=True" to you connection string

remove the try, catch and trace your code, make sure by including the ClientInfo class inside the public class IndexModel, and this will work with you.
Hey there, keep up the great work in your channel. I have only a general enquiry as a newbie sql learner. Could i channel shopify live data into an sql application?(This should be an application developed for a company of 50 employees mainly for the sake of generating reports and analytics)) Is this an easy process to undertake as a sql beginner? What should i keep in mind and what are the tools or softwares that i should work with right from the beginning. For notice, I made my mind to work with microsoft sql server, also our company has a dedicated server. Thanks for taking care of my enquiry.
Yes, it is possible to channel Shopify live data into an SQL application. This can be done by integrating the Shopify API with your SQL application, which will allow you to extract data from Shopify and store it in your SQL database. As a SQL beginner, this may not be an easy process. However, there are many resources available to help you learn and implement this integration. You can start by reading Shopify's API documentation and learning the basics of SQL. When integrating Shopify with SQL, there are a few things you should keep in mind: Data security: Ensure that the data being transferred between Shopify and your SQL database is secure and encrypted. Data accuracy: Ensure that the data being transferred is accurate and reliable. This can be done by setting up regular data validation and verification processes. Data privacy: Ensure that you are compliant with data privacy regulations when collecting and storing customer data. In terms of tools and software, you can use Microsoft SQL Server to store and manage your data. You can also use tools such as Power BI or Tableau to create reports and visualizations based on the data. Overall, integrating Shopify with SQL can be a complex process, but with the right resources and tools, it is possible to generate valuable reports and analytics for your company
This is a great tutorial. I have one issue though for some reason after following all the steps the data from the database is not showing up on the browser. could anyone advise?
Thanks for the tutorial but some places code didn't even we can see so its hard to solve and copy and pasting is a quick method but you should at least let us see what you are implementing . Again thanks for sharing
I think that the hidden parts of the code are easy to guess. for example, the connection string should be copied as explained, so you don't need to see my code. also, the html buttons can be copied from the documentation website of bootstrap
It's a good video but in a corporate or IT company this is not they follow. They don't use mdf for their whole application. So is it possible where you can make a video where connection is defined in appsetting.json file and then inject in statup.cs file.
