I treat HP more as Stamina and you are avoiding an injury but in such a way that it wears you down. When you hit half your HP or less you take a minor injury that draws blood and when you hit zero is when you actually take a potentially mortal wound.
That Celestial Sorcerer would go perfectly with an Aasimar. I don’t have any friends to play D&D with because I’m the only one I know into this type of thing so I just recreate what you guys talk about in Skyrim using mods. And this gave me the perfect idea for a build.
Licjr 1018 I might give that a try. Closest I ever came to playing a D&D game is Bulder’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights so I don’t want to get kicked out for being terrible like they do in Left 4 Dead lol.
Nicholas Bryant I don't have much experience with Roll20 and things like it because I was lucky enough to find a local group, but we've had a few new players come in and everyone's been patient with new players. It may take you a few times to find a group, but there are plenty of people out there who are happy to introduce new people to the hobby
I think the mechanics of using your Charisma modifier makes sense. To use an example, in Kingdom Hearts, most of the main characters' power does not come from physical strength, it comes from their strength of heart. (Force of will or force of personality AKA Charisma, in D&D terms) So, the flavor is that you use the power within you to make up for your lack of strength in a fight.
Pretty sure Travis Willingham is playing a Hexblade pact on critical role but it’s tied to his “great old one” pact and is “water” flavored. OP is correct, doesn’t HAVE to be tied to Shadowfell.
The undying pact's level six in my opinion is very powerful because it can be used on yourself when you succeed a death save. The ability to come back on your own quickly can be huge in a lot of Battles especially because you're not taking up other player's actions. The level 10 is very weak...
I flavor the Specter feature of the Hexblade to instead be that the humanoid you kill id providing a sacrifice which allows the spirit within your sword to manifest a weakened avatar of itself for a period of time which aids you in combat.
I play a tiefling sorcerer who knows how to read tarot cards, and every time he makes a new follower he says I am thou, thou art I... Thou hast acquired a new vow. It shall become the wings of rebellion that breaketh thy chains of captivity. With the birth of the BLANK Persona, I have obtained the winds of blessing that shall lead to freedom and new power...
I've heard it suggested that an Undying's Last ability can be great for infiltration when combined with the prior feature, just dismember yourself, hold your breath, mail yourself to the enemy base, reattach your limbs, disguise self or alter self.
There's a table in the dmg for injuries. Granted it's a variant rule but it makes the Undying more powerful because there is a risk that you lose body parts
I really hate how much the SCaG got cannibalized by other books, because it took too much for the book to be worth any more than maybe 20 bucks if I'm feeling generous, but they left just enough good subclasses that could fit in any campaign like Long Death Monks, Arcana Clerics, the Expanded Totem Barbarian Options, and Undying Warlock for the book to potentially interest me (Crown Paladins weren't mentioned because their abilities are so god damn flavorless).
On the Celestial Patron, I personally don't like having actual God's being the patrons because I think they would just have clerics. I see Warlocks as a work around for a patron that isn't strong enough to make an actual cleric.
My warlock was an aasimar & his purpose was to interfere with a cult. He fucked up & had to take part in a ritual that got him stuck floating in some empty barren plane. Until the entity the cult worshipped showes up & was like "Yooo wanna make a dEaL"
@@evangregory14 not saying it does. I'm saying it's a fantasy game with magic and if you discuss it with the DM before there shouldn't be a reason you can't. Why not, right? Nothing says you can't flavor it that way and if need be multi class with necromancer
I once made a pact with an otherworldly power by clicking yes on a Terms of Service without reading it first :)
Yes! Undying and Great Old One!
You mentioned the Kirin, that’s a beer here in Japan and they have the “dragon-horse” on their cans!

Where is Brian??? Is he speaking from the abyss with Demogorgon?

Nicholas Bryant why don’t you just join a dnd discord server
Nicholas Bryant Have you tried checking out Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds? You might be able to find a group on there

I’ve flavoured the Hexblade Warlock in my campaign to have a devil for a patron. You don’t have to be tied to the Shadowfell 🙂

My favorite hexblade warlock is alex mercer from prototype, get the dhampir race and ooooooo thatd be fun
Do you prefer shadow damage or dark damage?
@@mosshivenetwork117 I’d go with ‘shadow damage’ Especially if it’s a traditional, Shadowfell linked weapon!

Just got into dnd and am playing a warlock, and I love smite and the BoTG podcast too... Great Video!
When I was playing an undying warlock I cut off my arm to see if I can get advantage for my intimidation check
I kinda want to go undying warlock and then get ascended step so I can constantly float about like a ghost

Ive been asking for this since the series first started, so many times man

Yaoi Incubus, this is my favorite Character concept. Thank you also, Amazing Poetic Talents
I see somebody played Persona

What would you guys do to differentiate the Healing Light celestial warlock feature and Balm of the Summer Court Dream druid feature?

HEX BLADE!!! 🤤🤤🤤 omg level 6 and 9 hp haha lmao 😂😂
That's why rolling for hp is dumb. :)
Or you could go variant human and take the tough feat and have a crapton of health
You guys should host a demon lord smack down where Brian runs Demogorgon and Will runs Orcus haha
Hey for the Halloween game my friends and i play our warlock would of loved that lvl 14 undying ability after I cut off his arm

Woah. What kind of powers did he get? What elements?
Where was the fiend pact?
I would like to see you guys homebrew a class or a pc race
I Second That... I'm working on a Half Demon Homebrew. But demons in D and D tend to be............ Murdery, and that makes a backstory kinda tough...
What about the Draconic Patron?
I believe you mean the Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer?

Playing a character who can reattach limbs? I would totally cut off my own hand and send it to go pick pocket some one or something.
What makes you think your hand is sentient and still alive, once cut off?
