The best thing about books is you tend to get way more detail the manga or anime can give. Always good to start from the beginning. You also get a lot of good stuff from rudy training with roxy and chapters from specific characters perspectives like roxy, zenith, paul and lydia
Get yourself an e-reader like a kindle and then you can instantly download the next volume. Volume 26 comes out in 3 weeks. Plus the ebooks are cheaper.

this is why I love mushoku tensei, even though Rudeus is trash, Rifujin knows how to write heroism and adventure, and the journey to maturity
