Another great vid. You mention Nick. Do you ever wonder if you are going to hit a bad stretch of air nosedive and end up like him? Braver man than me spinning that wheel.
Risk is pretty subjective, I'm happy with the amount that I take. Nick was and is a huge inspiration hopefully he gets to tear up the sky again one day, he already has been in sail planes!
Ben, so glad to have you back posting! Epic scenery and what a flight - looks god damn freezing in NZ. Glad to have you back for my doses of inspiration.
Was worried there for a moment you might have been injured. I have learnt so much from your flights - especially love your commentary throughout. Best produced XC videos on UA-cam IMO 🤩
@@leah.internet thanks heaps!! Yeah no injury thankfully! Just been busy flying! Got some good ones coming soon that are longer NZ XC records/attempts that’ll be fun!

Great flight! Having spent a lot of tramping and climbing in these areas, I’m always impressed at what a great way to get around the mountains paragliding is
Another breathtaking flight avd a really good video, I would love a video where you show us your equipment and gear, loadout, how you rig your camera, tips for getting good video etc.
haha cool thanks! Yeah I can put some raw stuff up but to be honest the 360 camera has amazing stabilization which is cool but doesn't really do it justice! 😅
Simply stunning. What else is there to say? (BTW as an ARO instructor it’s great to see you giving position reports in the MBZ, a lot of guys can learn from this video and see that it’s not scary or hard to use the VHF as it’s intended….great stuff.)
I was hoping you’d land at the Mueller Hut on the edge of Mt Sealy (Aoraki range) near the Tasman glacier. I hiked this in 2008 and it was brutal from a vertical hike standpoint. But the views were just spectacular over the Hooker Valley. I can’t imagine how even more spectacular it was for you flying there. One day I’ll go back (soon!!!). Love the vids and the editing. You commentary is spot on too!
Haha yep, there’s definitely a correlation! I’m hoping to get all the ones from this season out over the next few months before I head to Europe…. Only problem is they seem to be taking me longer and longer 🤣
Another epic, nice one! Q about the audio - are you using the lapel mic with the Insta360, or are you just using audio from the GP? Do you record the whole flight on the Insta? How do you quickly find the segments where you're speaking in the Insta Studio app - I'm struggling with this! Thanks mate!
Thanks mate! So I record the Audio on the GoPro, I just turn the gopro on every now and again. Then I sink that with the 360 which is running the whole time. To find the talking on the 360 app I find roughly where it is and then sim the camera at myself then scrub through until I see my hand go up and touch the camera
This editing and constant 360 filming is just about as impressive as the flight itself! So much effort to get that edited down. But top notch stuff, from both of you! Springtime in Montana can't come soon enough!
Absolutely epic flight and very inspiring! That decision to turn back before the V notch was critical. Curious what cameras you're using. Also what map visualization are you showing with the 3D terrain?
Thanks mate!! I'm using a GorPro Hero 9 (in this video, I have since upgraded to the 11), Insta 360 One R (same deal, I have upgraded now to a One X 3) and the Iphone 11 Pro.
@@harry-knight 512gb. It’s good for about 11 hours. I nearly filled it in one flight this year. I flew for 10.5 hours and the battery went after 10hours, it was full charged and backed up with 10,000mah…
Thanks!! As far as I’m aware the only thing you need to do is comply with the Mandatory Broadcast Zone at Mount Cook. That requires airband radio & licence.
Mate! Are you a skier by chance? Everytime you post a video flying over some of the more wild parts of NZ I see all this Vol Skiing opportunity and imagine the possibilities are almost endless for flying into unridden lines and skiing them. Loving the content though and will be moving to NZ within the year so look forward to maybe flying together one day.
When I was there there were a lot of avalanches and calving of glaciers. Be super careful if you have to land/hike in top snow. Mt Cook is notorious for it from what I’ve read or been told by locals.
Ahh it wasn’t at all from memory, the second attempt I was much higher so was sweet. Got flushed on the first one, wasn’t that turbulent just super sinky.
WOW, great flying man. Such a hard genre to make a channel grow. You do a great job editing, you truly do deserve more subs. Cmon people, if you’re watching, shoot Benjamin a sub and comment. ✌️🇨🇦
Ahhh not all of them have trails, many have rivers that require some skill to cross. It's possible to hike out of all of them but some could take several days, so I fly with camping equipment with enough food and determination to get out by myself.
Stunning! If I need to show my non-paraglider-friends what is the peak awesomeness of the sport, this video is what I show them!
What a day!!! Nice move to go back to climb before crossing the pass. Nice one! Really enjoy your videos!
Always a pleasure to watch your craft
Thanks!!
What a mad aspirational flight.
Cheers!!
I knew that New Zealand is beautiful, but this!
It’s a truely special place 😁
Amazing...dude...epic flight!!! EEEEEEEEEPIC!
Cheers!
Inspirational!
Thanks mate!
About half way through my PG2 in Queenstown and this sort of flight is the dream 😍 What a beautiful route! Loved following along!
Awesome!! Welcome to the addiction! 😅

That part where you traced back to be able to make the pass was epic. Takes a stubborn head to do that. Well done!
Cheers!! I was pretty happy to get a second go at it, for a minute I thought I was going to have to walk out the Ahuriri 😂
So cool!
Incredible, you're story telling is excellent 👌
Thank you so much!
Super impressive!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love your high quality videos. NZ tourism board should hire you.
Thanks mate!! 😁
Epic video 👍🏼☺️
Thanks!! 😁
Bloody marvelous! Looking forward to the video where you tag one of these big peaks, Aspiring or Cook.
One day!! 😁
Great vid of your trip!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ben, so glad to have you back posting! Epic scenery and what a flight - looks god damn freezing in NZ. Glad to have you back for my doses of inspiration.

Thank you for sharing, brilliant views and man, great microphone :D
Thanks!!
I live in Lake Hawea and love seeing the tops of some of the mountains in which we are surrounded by. Cheers dude
Awesome! No problem! 😁
Epic, just love these views. Well done guys! This makes me want to grab my bivy gear and just go out as well....
Awesome! Do it!!

If you like hiking, camping and being outside, paragliding is just an epic way to take it to another level!

I'll give it a go some time, I've been threatening doing it for a long time🤣
Very cool transitions on the climbs!
Thanks!! 🤓
Unreal!! Mega 🙌
Thanks!
I love the smooth footage and editing but I would be stoked to see a video off your B roll of you "fighting to keep it open!"

Thanks!! I thought it was worth leaving some calls in, just to show people what is required. (Also to demonstrate I was complying 😉😂)
Spectacular ☺
Thanks a lot 😊
Thought we were for sure landing at that low spot! My favourite flight of the season I think! Epic vid, cool having three different perspectives too!
Yeah man! What a cool mission eh! Will have to do more next year!!

Mint. Stop work to watch another epic. Anyone else notice that releases of vids follow unflyable weather, must be edit time!

Not sure, yet. Would like to do some hike and fly around the Fiordland maybe!
amazing what sheet with some strings can do these days, sure I seen you guys on the way from pukaki to greenstone airstrip.
Cool! Good to know we get seen! Sometimes I do wonder when I see other aircraft! 😅
Stunning. I am wondering one thing. How many times in your flying career did you have to throw your reserve due to the turbulent conditions?
Absolutely epic video. Looking at getting into paragliding next summer, and your videos are certainly inspiring it.
How long have you been doing it?
Awesome! Do it!! aahhh about 9 years now
잘봤습니다.당신 동영상을 모두 시청하고 있는 중입니다.😊
Do you need a special aeronautical radio or can you use the normal VHF to report ?

When you say ‘been an effort to keep the wing open’, how are you stopping it collapsing?
By actively controlling the glider in pitch and roll
