Hey Todd, not everything is about how rich a country can be. For some people, more important is how people, city or country can make them feel. Probably that is the answer to your stupid question. You should be asking that question yourself. Why did you leave your country and choose Valparaiso?

A la gente del tercer mundo, sobre todo a los latinoamericanos, les encanta Viña del Mar, porque representa una "modernidad" y "estilo Miami Beach" que es su máxima aspiración, y que desgraciadamente en la mayoría de los casos les resultará para siempre inalcanzable. En cambio la gente del primer mundo, sobre todo los europeos, que ha alcanzado casi todo lo imaginable, tienen el bagaje cultural suficiente para poder apreciar la belleza de Valparaíso. Mi hija por ejemplo, una berlinesa licenciada en Filosofía, doctora en Economía y docente en la Universidad de St. Gallen en Suiza, cada vez que me visita en Viña, disfruta inumerables veces del recorrido del la O, esa micro que subiendo por la Avenida Francia, recorriendo la Avenida Alemania y el Camino Cintura, atraviesa los cerros de Valparaíso.
Valparaiso una ciudad con inmigrantes britanicos españoles croatas italianos griegos chinos japoneses coreanos y judios en el pasado. Hoy dia Valparaiso tiene inmigracion de Venezuela Colombia Haiti Cuba Republica Domenicana Argentina Peru Bolivia Ecuador y España. Los inmigrantes del pasado crearon la populacion de mestizos y los inmigrantes actuales crearan una nueva populacion de pardos zambos y afro chilenos.
Gracias por hacerme volver a por unos minutos. Viví allí entre 1984 y 1992 y me enamoré de Valparaíso ❤❤

You probably also thought that only SFO had an earthquake in 1906. Valparaiso and San Francisco should be sister cities. They have much in common.
