It was like a tradition as the atlas lion has always been an official symbol of their reign till nowadays.. it has unfortunately been extinct in the wild recently but still living in captivity within king's palaces (few ones) where they've been carefully and consistently reproducing for centuries far from hunters rifles.. few years ago Morocco's current king decided to give all "his barbary lions" away to the national zoo of Rabat/Morocco (where the video above had been taken) in order to contribute to a big national ecological project aimed at preserving this precious species.
