  • Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed this video, because I enjoyed making it for you.
    Five years ago I sat on Irish without the bridle for the first time ever.
    It changed the way we saw each other and our lives.
    Disclaimer: No, we have not only ridden bridleless ever since, but mainly bridleless and less and less with the bridle as time has passed by
    -
    This video is a lot of "storytelling" compared to normally, but I personally like this kind of video and hoped I would be able to make it interesting/entertaining/good enough... Please leave a like or/and comment if you liked it to let me know!

      tentativesuggestion If it was that easy for me! My horse could never go bridless. 😅 He loves his bit. I do ride bare back with him sometimes tackless. One day though :)

    Riding bareback always strengthens the relationship between horse and rider, as you can feel her movements more intensely and she can feel you back and lower legs without a saddle or stirrups in between. And not usimng bridles gives her the freedom ro use her head as she likes it. Therefore horses been ridden bareback and bridleless look much happier - and Irish certainly enjoys feeling you on her back.
    And you look great riding her like that - excellent sear and perfect balance - and you body is following her movements very nicely. Thus you are an elegant and attractive rider on a satisfied horse!
    Highlights are of course your wonderful levade at 2:18 - the rearing horse and the riding girl in full harmony and perfect position: She certainly knows how to ride a rearing horse.
    The extended trot after 2:44, your no-hand canter, the jump at 3:04 and your standing upright on trotting Irish prove the 100 % mutual trust between the two of you.
    A wonderful video - of course with thumbs up and subscription. You are such an excellent rider, Lene - thank you for presenting such an enjoyable video.

      @@skye_7581 saddles (properly fitted) are not uncomfortable. It is very very simple physics that weight over a larger surface area is less harmful. Even distribution of weight is far far healthier, please look it up. It is not a matter of opinion. I don't want to judge on just one video but I really hope that she isn't riding her like that every time.

    • @lilywilliamson1155
      @lilywilliamson1155 5 років тому

      @@skye_7581 a lot of assumptions made there lol. Yes, i know that horses were not made to be ridden, ergo, saddles or bareback pads should be used to cushion the horses back and spread the weight more evenly do it doesn't hurt their spine. I don't agree with riding every single day either lol. Like idk what you're getting at? And I'm not sure if it's because you were riding bareback and were too big for the horse or the horse had a painful back anyway, but that isn't a general trend among horses. Yes I listen to the horses I ride. And I also listen to facts. Saddle = better weight distribution = more comfortable

    • @lilywilliamson1155
      @lilywilliamson1155 5 років тому

      @@skye_7581 ok lol, I can see what it now. You are just inexperienced, and that's ok. Riding a horse bareback once in a while, and with a pad isn't going to kill them, but long term hard bareback riding is going to do damage. And please, dear god, do not base your beliefs on what your instructor thinks. You need to be doing research outside of that and learning from multiple places. Taking advice from only one person can seriously hurt your experience.

      We need to be reminded that ‘Dressage’ is the training of both the horse and rider, to work together to achieve self carriage and true balance of both parties. If approached with humility, empathy, patience and an understanding of how the rider’s weight and position will effect the horse’s ability to achieve that which we are asking for is firstly a great privilege, as well as an art; with a chunk of science involved. This young woman is well on her way to becoming a very fine rider. If she wants, and is able to analyse what and how she is achieving these results, so as to be able to transfer to other horses with similar, and even better results, she could become a great horse ( and by that I mean horse and rider) trainer. The most difficult thing to learn, for a novice rider, is how to be still, and how to stay in balance with your mount at all times without recourse to pressure on the reins. Do remember that Dressage, ( training) as a sport was invented by the German military, to standardise the training of riders and horses for efficient and effective use in war. It is by its very nature and methodology a strange melding of force, coercion and empathy. I really hope that a proper School of bridleless horsemanship is evolving. That one day, it will be considered the norm, and best practice for all leisure riding.

    This is fantastic - kudos to you for what you have accomplished without a bridle. Irish reminds me of my favorite horse ever, Joshua, who was also a buckskin. He was a grade horse. He was super smart and just wanted to please. He did pleasure riding, a little dressage, driving, jumping, trail class and various "tricks". He loved everyone and was a hit in any stables he resided in. We often hacked him around without a bridle, but I wish we had done more of that. It wasn't commonly seen years ago (or maybe today either). Best wishes to you and Irish.

    You are my biggest Idol at all! Because of you and Irish, I have begin to ride cordeo with my pony. We have made two shows, one jumpingcompetition and two dressagecompetitions with cordeo, and she almost never have been so happy and great 🙌🐴💞 I always ride bareback and mostly bitless. We mostly use the cordeo, but Sometimes also sidepull. Sometimes, When I try to canter at her with sidepull, she Sometimes don’t want, but When I take the cordeo, she became Happy and these days, the canter have never been better 💪

    That's pretty awesome. I'd like to think that one of my horses could do that, but none of them have any jumping ability other than my stallion, who injured his hock as a yearling and can't turn that way at a lope, but is otherwise fine on it. He could have jumped if he hadn't. He's super lazy and I just sit on him all the time. He can be ridden bareback with a halter and rope around mares even in breeding season. I do mostly western riding, so my horses are more geared towards a few specific events, mostly halter, roping, and reining lines. One of the mares, one with reining lines, is 16 and about to foal. She has been my playday/rodeo/county fair partner. SHe runs barrels, poles, flags, rings, and stakes plus can calm down enough to do some trail and western pleasure. Since she is pregnant now and will need time off to recover, I broke her now 5 year old daughter in September. Leilani has been great. She doesn't next rein yet, but she steers, stops, backs, and is almost ready to haul to barrel races. She'll easily be ready for this spring and summer. I don't know the first thing about teaching a horse to neckrein, so I probably wouldn't have much luck teaching her to ride bridleless, but I might with the yearling I'm working with to show in halter and showmansbip. Love the color of your girl by the way. Very pretty. I might have one like her born this year, as leat, colorwise. I think the legs will end up longer though since the parents both have long legs. Good luck in the future! I hope Irish lives a long and happy life with you!

    I love people who respect the true nature of a horse and riding bareback is very hard to do its a true talent, also the fact you don't use a bridle with a bit and you just use neck ropes etc, I don't mind if people use bits I mean there are so many different types of bits for example leather bits, btw for some reason your name sounds so danish xD!

      If the horse was so lazy she probably took it off just like that.
      I started with taking off the saddle but using a halter with a rope for reins, because one of my horses has got a bit of a wild side.
      You should start somewhere in your arena/paddock/field where your horse is most easy, for example my wild horse can sprint to the gate out of nowhere so I we stayed at the gate the first few times. My pony is the sweetest, so I just jumped on and taught him how to turn with only a rope or completely tackless. Good luck!

    Although you are light putting a pad on the horses back does protect their spineand can place your weight over rather than directly on the spine. But yea well done

    My KWPN mare walks best bridleless. M dressage (dont know what class that is in UK/USA). But I ride her just the same way with a bridle. Does not change frame at all; how it should be.
