You should read "Hatchet" It's about a kid who gets stranded in a jungle or forest for like a year because his pilot died and they crashed. He learns how to survive on his own with a lot of luck. It's really good. And a lot of bad stuff happens while he's surviving. Including a porcupine. And a moose.
This species of porcupine is North America's second largest rodent, just after the beaver, and marmots/groundhogs come in third place. The weirdest-looking porcupine is probably the South American variety, they're pretty neat, they've got a pink fleshy snout and white and black spines all over it instead of their quills being hidden in fur. The African variety of porcupine, the crested porcupine, is also a rodent but it isn't closely related to the New World porcupine family. It is the largest of the porcupines and looks quite different, with more obvious spikes than the North American sort and a large mane of spikes in a raised crest on their neck plus a flattened sort of crown of spikes in their back half just before their spiney tail.
Wow. I just realized thanks to this video, that porcupines are closely related to beavers. It has orange teeth just like a beaver due to the heavy iron levels in their enamel.
The enclosure is actually really nice and big, and and he lives a very happy life. He was rescued from a bad situation and rehabilitated in Alaska. The only animals that are kept long term and not re released to the wild are the ones that cannot survive.
THATS a porcupine??? god i would not last a day out in the wild. I'd try to pet that little cutie immediately
You would not. Those sharp needles is hiding in that fur 👀

This isn’t Teddy the talking porcupine, is it?
I think Teddy's owner has retired him as he is 12-13. I think, and she said he's got very grumpy and she's just letting him be a porcupine 😁
Малыш 🥰
