  • This PacIOOS Voyager map shows the movement of a 9.3 ft (2.8 m) male tiger shark who was fitted with a satellite tag (tag ID 133369) near Kihei, Maui on October 19, 2013. This tag intermittently tracks the shark's location over time as its dorsal fin breaches the water's surface. The square symbol indicates where the shark was originally tagged. This video runs through November 14, 2013. There is a level of uncertainty associated with some of these locations - there may be over a mile in error associated with any given point. For this and other tiger sharks being actively monitored, visit the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) at pacioos.org/projects/sharks/.
With funding from the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), these data are being collected by Lead Scientists Drs. Carl Meyer and Kim Holland along with other members of the Shark Research Team of the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB) of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

That's crazy! That Shark obviously likes Mekena area but to see it close to Honokowai was no surprise I've seen them there and heard people yelling "🦈" to the surfers in the water more than once. @S-turns. I want to go snorkeling🐢🐠🐙 so bad but..........🐓😜🤙

You will be fine, just don't wear shiny stuff, high contrast clothes.. if you see tiger, stay calm and eye contact the whole time, no problem
