Granada for me. I've been very lucky with purchases but my dad loved his Granadas, the company car of choice. From 1979 to 1988 he was Granada, apart from a couple very short flirts with R30tx and Volvo 760 GLE which were quickly replaced. They hit the heart.
I was in my local Iceland and had the joys of bumping into these two people was nice to meet u nd u take time from shopping to say hi to me thank u both very much
Not a MK1 but I've owned a 89 F reg MK2 Astra GTE 16V my brother owned presumably 1 of the very first in a B reg 85 1.8 GTE followed by a 90 G reg 2.0 GTE . My brother also owned an A reg Manta GTE. Dad also owned an X reg Granada Ghia X.

Wow! Thank you for this video, what an eye opener. The Granada Estate was my car of choice. Having sold my very nice example for a similar amount back in 2016. Now would be worth double. At times I think some folk have more money than sense, as they let their heart rule their head. Really enjoyed watching this video , thank you, cheers 🍻
Thank you. As we're fairly new to creating UA-cam content, we never know what is right and what is wrong. This was one of those "I wonder if anyone will be interested?" videos, but we thought we'd give it a go. I'm glad it's been entertaining for some of you. A good example of a Granada may go for more than double, by the way!
@@UKBarnFinds yes old ford's have shot up in price that's for sure. You're both doing a grand job, in life you'll never please everyone, but if you don't have a go at things you'll never know. I think you're on the right road ☺ 🍻
If these high-premium cars, like the GTE, hold their value, then it's not so crazy stumping up £20k for an early '80s hot-hatch. Compared to the total cost of buying a 3 year old Focus RS or ST, it will probably be much cheaper.
Blew me away, too, but nostalgia does seem to attract a premium these days 😳 Nice to see a Vauxhall giving the Fords a run for their money in the price stakes.
Thanks for the video that was truly riveting and I was hoping that the Astra would have made 18k hammer price, I would take it over an RS Turbo all day long 🏴👍🏻
Owned a MK1 gte about 20yrs ago, took of the road for restoration but when i started to dismantle realised the amount of welding needed was too much for me so i got the scrap man to take it away. Bad decision on my part would have been worth a few quid nowadays, still have good memories of owning and driving it though.
After watching the auction on UA-cam, will definitely go to the next one in August. Might even consider bidding on something that floats my boat, perhaps. Will say hello if I see you.
i had GTE back in the early 90s , white one it was a minter , and one of the best cars ive ever owned .... great car ....... sold it and got a XR4i ...... another great car . ive been lucky to have had some cracking cars .
For sale? Drop Guy Snelling at Anglia Car Auctions a line - info@angliacarauctions.co.uk . Mention us to him and we’ll film it, if it’s in the next auction 😀

Hey Leon, they had an Allegro in the sale and maybe a Range Rover? If you head over to their website www.angliacarauctions.co.uk you can still view the classic auction catalogue from the sale. They also include how much the cars went for.
I am sure F O R D would having a laugh with their car names. They had a lot of Space names,Eg Lazer, telstar, Meteor ,etc but they topped it off with "probe" 😁👽👽

I used to drive a mk1 Astra 1600 S. It was stolen recovered when I got it for cheap. It had low mileage and drove beautifully. I'm talking early nineties here though. They were still everywhere then. They're as rare as hens teeth now though. It's a shame that GTE is only a replica.
I remember them being all over the place, too. I was into Minis at the time, so didn’t touch them. I did have a Chevette, though, and enjoyed that car. The replica on pallets in this video was probably quite fun in its day. The genuine GTE in the video was amazing. I hope the new owner enjoys it.
@UKBarnFinds I've also driven a chevette back in the day (I'm old lol) and a mk1 cavalier. I loved the way they drove. Very easy and comfortable to drive! Had a few minis too, a Cooper being my last one (new shape) just last year. Nothing like the original though of course!
Whats sad, is for these cars like the Astra (being sold as Opel Cadett) at my place in east europe the aking price per single car would be over 5 000 euros, no tire kickers no low ballers, because of crazy owners who sell them.
@@UKBarnFinds I totally agree with you, but if the prices were kept within reality there would be far more of them around. As the market is right now the people who pay out crazy prices are doing more damage than good. Only my opinion of course. There are tons of old cars I'd love to own again but I'll never pay the prices people ask these days because realistically the cars just aren't worth that.
The Granny is a better car than the Manta. 5,700 is about 5,690 more than I would pay for the Manta. Rare trick of horrible ride and rotten handling, it wasn’t good when it was new so isn’t good now.

Hi Phil, Elton here. Your previous comments on the Astra GTE replica are still there. I've never experienced one first hand, but the scarcity of them appeals to me now. I don't think it would be enough for me to want to buy one, though, although I do like seeing them at shows.
The Ford Probe is a beautiful car, l had a metallic sapphire blue 24v year's ago and found it was as smooth to drive as a 1987 ford Orion 1.4L four speed, l owned it for 5yrs without a issue, regular maintenance and she ran sweetly for me, l miss that Car.

I thought they were very desirable, obviously not
still a bargain i think the gte,but i'd still have the rs turbo over it :)
