This video shows the Android user setting to change to reduce or eliminate pocket dialing emergency calls 911. This is the setting that worked for me. Android 12 -- 2022.
Gawd me too!! 5 minutes ago! So embarrassing that I had to tell the 911 operator that I was bending down to pick up my dogs poop, and it pocket dialed 911. I think this video tip will work!
I was moving for a for a friend the other day and we went up the staircase to his apartment all day long. By the evening i had pocket dialed 911 14 times...... Seriously annoying
The lock screen Emergency Call button requirement needs to be OPTIONAL or rescinded, it is currently a Federal requirement. This needless feature is creating a large amount of false 911 calls endangering the Public and First Responders. 911 on a speed dial button is just ridiculous, as are all of the other four ways to accidentally call 911 on an Samsung S21.
Finally, I can't believe how hard it was to figure this out. I called 911 4 times today by accident. They told me to go to settings and turn off the SOS. I did. Then I called them for a 5 time out walking with my kids in the woods at a birthday party and I couldn answere the 911 to say it was fake and the sent out the Sherrif. Thank you.
Started a job at Chick-fil-A this week and pocket dialed 911 twice in 3 days and the police and fire came both times to the restaurant. What a way to start a new job.

So I was outside with my nephew playing in the backyard. All of a sudden, I heard the slightest voice say 911. I yanked my phone out of my pocket and calmly told them it was a pocket dial and that my android accidentally called, only because the screen side probably rubbed up against my leg, but it is really really stupid that samsung did that, there should be like a thing where you need to put a small 4 digit password if you have one already or not in order for the call to process to eliminate pocket dials instead of turning off some motion gestures that improve the quality of life of the phone, but I really appreciate this video bro 👏

I work at a Starbucks and he said maybe I will stop by to get a drink later. I have butt-dialed them 6 times in the past 2 months now. One time they showed up to work when we closed. I was already home though

I can't believe I'm saying g this but I might have to go back to iphone. I just switched back to Samsung after trying iphone for a year or so but I am sick and tired of this. Every day, pocket dialing 911. I don't want to turn off double tap awake. With iphone, I had tap to awake and lift to awake and I never once butt dialed the cops. This is bull crap Samsung.

This was really helpful. Unfortunately my buttons are broke, so I have to rely on the double tap to wake, but I turned on accidental touch protection after I thought it was on all this time 🤦♂️

The fact that many settings under multiple headings need to be changed and sometimes changed again after update is crazy. There are so many settings for security, privacy, and not butt dialing 911 that I wish I could simply leave my phone at home. Unfortunately, I am a diabetic who's cgm data reports to my phone. This entire subject should be mitigated by downloadable phone personalities. Such as "opt out sharing data for advertising," " opt out of all application install that require camera access," and "opt out of 911 but dial". Today's cell phone is a digital teather similar to what a criminal on probation wears, but this one auto dials 911.

I hope this works, I have had this phone for nearly two years and only recently has this been an issue. I've pocket dialed 911 6 times in two weeks while cleaning pools, I've had to resort to leaving my phone in the truck which sucks cause now I can't listen to music while working!

haha I totally did this... randomly I hear "blah blah blah EMERGENCY" and I first think it was TV or something but soon found out that it was 911 I was really sweaty at the time and I feel like the moisture contributed to the problem.

I know they're going to send me a bill eventually it happens to me sometimes 5 to 10 times a day while I'm at work I found the reason is on our lock screens if the phone moves about in our pocket it can hit the power button turning the screen on and then the simplest feature is the emergency calls at the bottom of the display gets tapped and calls 911
Just had this happen.. Preumably the screen was activated by a notification. I *do* want to have the double tap to (front) switch on, so I was looking to edit the emergency number to a meaningless one (on android phone) but can't find a way. Is this possible??
