I can watch a plane in the sky and think “I could land that”. I’d watch F1 and think “I could do that”. I’d watch MotoGP and think “I could do that, I’ll have no kneecaps but yeah I could do that”. Rally is the one motorsport that I can unashamedly say “yeah I can’t do that”.

It's a pretty niche activity, so there's not a lot of cause for concern compared to other vehicles. Soil erosion isn't a big problem since they are on dedicated tracks. However, since it's a worldwide activity, shipping the team and the cars all over the world is probably a pretty high carbon activity similar to F1. But it doesn't have the scale of F1 so there's lower hanging fruit to go after. Don't worry we can create a cleaner planet without ruining the fun. The first step is realizing you can have both if you are willing to try. We don't have to go out in a blaze of glory or a cloud of dust to keep it entertaining.
