Marc Okubo fills a mix with one guitar, better than most bands are doing with two. Phenomenal band
Hate to rain on your parade but they play to a backtrack that has 1 to 2 guitar tracks playing at all times as well as all the electronic/synths/what have you. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day (Circa 2008) Marc used a looping pedal and do everything on the spot which was damn impressive
Explain 1:55 then
Bermudez 113 IMO waaaay more talent to use a "loop" live.
I love how the vocalist looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo
Shaggy gettin' ready for winter*
musicforDRUMIES Winter is coming soon.
I'm here guys.
Hello my friend. Shaggy has been waiting for you...
This isn't even 1% of his vocal power
that voice will be missed
;(
IMO Lukas more than makes up for the loss of Brandon.
Aaron Chapman Lukas sounds mostly flat live. Brandon blows him with his growls. No comparison
Nah not at all.
@@aaronchapman3 you're drunk
They're not baked at all said no one ever. Love this
Lol at 3:03 theres supposed to be a break before the vocals and he realized it and laughs... down to earth fucking dudes.
I'm sure it's stuff like this that lead to him getting kicked out, hindsight.
@@tylerdegreef1575 nah they just wanted to include clean vocals too and the guy couldn't sing
I love how I can hear the bass guitar clearly in this mix!
the only band to have a bassist with more strings than the guitarist.
Dream theater lol
They're actually equal now in 2022 lol.
This song will forever hold the best breakdowns in history
The last true Veil Of Maya song
still watching it in 2015
totally ! #hastheveilrisenalready ?
No fucking shit
Brendon stacey yay northlane!
Alice Bug yay
God I miss old veil, this album was the end of greatness
Gotta love Veil Of Maya they sound just like their record.
This song still slaps in 2019
GARGAFLARF 2020
2021
2022.
It's a very special song I won't soon forget
2023
Wuuuuuut? never would think veil of maya would be on audiotree.
Marcs guitar tone though........so fucking metal
Still come back to listen in 2021. Freaking AMAZING song.
I would've loved to see them do a live version of 'It's torn away'. I've seen them at least 7 times live and they've never played it. As an early fan that song has been a personal favourite and is really underrated. Sam mentioned to me that they don't play it because of the difficulties with it and the newer fan base that doesn't even know it exists. But it would be nice to have a live version on something like Audiotree that I could just day dream about being there in the pit for.
I got to see it once! It was so sick. They played it in Memhis, TN for some friends because they used to play here literally ALL the time and they have a lot of friends here.
+10
Damn dude i thought i was the only one. that's my favorite song too! but i dont know what they could have possibly meant by difficulty playing it live. they played it in 2011 when i saw them the first time. but you're right ive seen them 3 times since then and they havent played it. i too am not happy with that.
Their record label's boss, Ash Avildson, has stated that It's Torn Away is his favorite Veil of Maya song.
It's secretly everyone's favorite.
I miss this band :(
I'm so in love with this band !
My favourite Veil Of Maya song..
Fuck yes. Thanks Audiotree for this. Soooooooo sick
hi again.
One of my favorite bands, I love them.
Audiotree this is awesome! Thank you for this. You need more of these bands in this channel. The "scene" if you will, is filled with amazing musicians. A.K.A Vildhjarta, Volumes, Monuments, Tesseract, Animals As Leaders and many many more
None of them are based in Chicago though which is where this radio show is, maybe Born Of Osiris
Tesseract did this twice already and all those other bands should do this more often! would love that!
An old comment...but these bands were the new wave of Djent.
I wish I could hear this for the first time again
here in 2024 baby!
Remembering how much I fucking loved this song a few years ago.
That was friggin awesome!
Favorite VOM song still to this day! Thanx for posting!
This gives me the chills every time I listen to it!
I literally have nothing to say besides this being so fucking solid, if there was ever a time where I couldn't wait for an album, it's now.
Seeing them in January! So pumped
im gonna be there too man it'll be sick
4:27 may have been a mistake, I heard this before hearing the original, but good holy fuck that transition is sick. It's like a measure of 5/8 with a polyrhythmic 4/4 feel that then switches immediately into straight 4/4 with half timed drums. I thought it was super creative haha.
it sounds like he may have just forgotten to go into half time and fixed it at a weird spot. that's one of the coolest things about watching a band live, witnessing them goof up and recover with ease. its almost like exercising their musical abilities.
+Cody Betz also shows that a live performance isn't really live unless the band fucks up a little! even the sam from vom told me in person that they cant play live without screwing up; its what makes live performances so special, just different from standard recordings
+Cody Betz Holy fuck, I was sitting on the train and listening to this and noticed exactly the same. It could be on purpose though like you said. But also it's a pretty difficult part due to the quadruplet bass drum hits so it could be a screw up which he recovered from really nicely!
+Cody Betz actually, you can hear it in every song of vom,go see video lessons by Marc,he explain how to play breaks like this. its awesome
+ANDREY DOLGAREV except in this song that part was not in the recorded version.
God damn their playing is so tight here and Brandon sounds amazing. Definitely their peak lol
EVERYTHING is perfect.. Those fucking audiotree vids show how much awsome Metal is. Veil of maya are fucking genious
I've held it in my hands. Literally.
2021 and still rockin' 🤘
The bass tone makes this.
Baked! Will miss you Brandon
First band I ever saw live, never knew they would go so far with their music.
Top shelf VOM
wow. dat guitarist doe. i mean, what precision. same goes to the drummer and bassist as well now that i think about it lol.
Amazing riffs
The piano melody is very interesting..
I love these guys with a passion !! Always will , marcs rhythms just keep getting sicker and sicker!
4:27 damn that screw up. Great that they picked it back up pretty quickly. Dope!
I've noticed that this whole band has extreme consistency and when they do mess up, they know exactly how to get back on it.
+Kyle Schneid I love how they just exchanged smiles and kept plugging along. Shit like that makes me so happy for no reason at all.
+Kyle Schneid Not that it matters, but who's fault was that? I can't tell. Sam's?
Idk if it was a mistake it kinda sounds intentional..
Mix sounds more meaty than on record. Love it!
This song is absolutely smashing.
Wow!
Audio tree❤️🍁great video
Veil of Maya fucking rocks
Do you even djent bro? MUCH POLYRHYTHM,SUCH TIME SIGNATURE,VERY TIGHT,WOW
Underrated song. Underrated video
FROZEN IN STASIIIIIIIIIIS
Miss you Brandon.
4:27 this part give me chills
3:30 so many chills
Hell yeah these guys are great!
The former vocalist is missed; when he left, the band's sound changed completely. Not that it's bad, but it used to be better. Miss you Brandon!!!
the audio tree symbol looks like an upside down veil of maya symbol
Toby from The Office on drums
This performance is sick!
2024 anybody
Like this video... Veil of maya muaacchh
fckin clean as shiet
Sam Applebaum breaks all hell loose from 3:01. Those Polymetric drum fills and shifts are insane!
fucking amazing
They should just record their albums live, Jesus. Minus all the midi and secondary guitar, obviously.
Damn good metal
Nice shirt, Blake
That bass doe. So heavy
I hope they don't get caught up in the whole djent thing because [id] and Common Man's Collapse were awesome both because of that and also the licks and riffs.
No one gets caught up in the Djent thing. If a band decides to do it, its because they want to. Not because they think its an easy way to get famous. Syncopated riffs sound simply bad ass. Just because its popular doesent change the fact that it sounds bad ass.
Mike Scanlan I applaud you, sir
Sadly, they did. Brandon is kick-ass!
Man I miss Brandon :/ new vocalist is amazing, they both are really special talents, but brandon is the voice that got me into the music behind vom
+Chris Davis yes and he had that distinct sound to him. I miss him too haha
true
4:26 it always makes me smile when they fuck up here and then fix it quick
Song slaps!
the name of the singer is brandon right?
the bassist danny hauser right?
the guitar marc okubo right? and sam applebaum right?
yep
You are correct
ofcourse it is
***** speaking of which, RIP
Zach Galifianakis doesn't sound too bad here.
its interesting how they have to mix the bass live vs recording because marc is only one person
i almost like this more
They are playing to a backing track of a second guitar track.
Anton Kalaj that could be....but he actually loops him self so he can make it sound like its 2 guitars
He does that as well, but thats definitely a second guitar track brother. Cant loop that :P
BoO does it as well. Along with Within the Ruins.
Anton Kalaj And Volumes.
It's nice to see that no matter how good you are, even the greats mess up sometimes lol
Can you guys bring metal bands back please?
if this was not raw i wouldnt have watched it. soooo good!!!!!
I want a collab from Marc Okubo and Lucas Mann
Are you going to upload videos from the You blew it! session?
Where can I get that guys shirt? The like announcer host
Best intro ever
Their bassist always reminds me of an old Spanish conquistador or something. Really epic looking dude.
ROLÓN ALV
2023 here
gets better each album
At 3:04 he came in to soon when he screamed!
THAT MOMENT WE OPEN OUR EYYYYYYESSSSS
DUN, DUNDUNDUN, DUNDUN, DUNDUNDUN
Looking for the random with the lyrics.
3:34 is solid as fuck
SCREW HOW AWESOME THIS VIDEO IS - I'M GOING TO START A SUBGENRE FLAME WAR!
Is that left handed drummer?
3:03 MEGA FAIL LOL
+Marco Rios Rodriguez hahahaha hell yeah
Nice catch 😂😬 Still amazing!!!!
LOL! I was thinking that it was his plan. but the truth is not rolffff
That was supposed to be one of the best parts and he failed lol
3:03 oops!
Christ the bass is high in the mix.
Either way; fucking Danny
Why is the guitar panned hard right and bass hard left?
I love them don't get me wrong, but if I'm gonna go to a concert to hear this, I won't go. It almost seems amazing that they got what they did in the original recording. It's just dirty played live
I'm not sure of the issue you're talking about?
AnthonyPudduMusic i won't pay to hear this from the vocalist. It doesn't sound good
TheAntnee99 Ohhhh understood brother! They have a new vocalist btw :)
AnthonyPudduMusic I am very very happy to hear that
TheAntnee99 His vocals sound like it does on the recording, the levels on the live mix is just bad and he's drowned out by the instruments.
Scoby doby doby du 🐺🍻
3.03 το μπερδεψε!
is this video sped up
dat bass guitar though...
