we had a 409 petrol Mercedes van bought new in 1980 .what a great van that was ,never failed was solid .wide an just a great van ,these new ones have not got a patch .same with the new merc cars too .
FALKOR78 my sprinter is 20 years old now, and it's getting it's second respray, but after i finish al the welding under and around the entire vehicle, because it had more holes in it than a swiss cheese. So when you buy a new or a fairly new sprinter, make sure you spent another grand to pimp the internal hollow spaces with wax, because that is the most important option you can buy on a sprinter, or else you wil be pimpin rust.
well I own 3 sprinters that are quite old now I had all of them from since new, one from 2006 and 2x from 2008 I sold the 2008 one to my uncle he drives in Belarus and Russia and the only rust I saw was on the back doors and it rusted quite badly sine it done 950.000km the 2006 has zero rust nothing has been resprayed and it never was garaged. depends where you drive it
Im driving mb spriter passenger van and she has one problem. Radio antenna in the middle of body above the windscreen and I cannot reach take it out when going to carwash .Designer, take care.

Painted by hand? and just a couple thin layers won't stop it from being rusted, especially in area close to ocean like Florida and California.

I own one and now i see why rust is a problem with all Sprinters . Handpainted no anti corrosion zinc bath etc.
I work at a Benz Dealership and after years of rust issues you'd think they would be able to resolve the issue.
