I know that Philco had had a lot of trouble with these things, but I'm surprised the design didn't catch on with other manufacturers. The idea to make it swivel is great, and it saves floor space by being much lees deep than other televisions of the era. It's basically an ancestor to LCD televisions we have today.
Chiro Quacker we had a tv shop and someone made a color predictor 23 with a rca chassis in 80s or90s saw the brochures it was solid state about 1200$ as I recall😎
There was a Philco Predicta TV in the 1984 comedy movie " Revenge Of The Nerds " . There is a scene where they are playing the video game " Pong " on it.
SICK! Someone on Craigslist is selling one of these near me. But it's not the continental model. Wish I had 300 bucks to drop on it because I love the design of these things.
Oh WOW! Our neighbors down tha street had the table model when I was a kid but I think your floor model is cooler..Is yours the first year and the ' tabletop portable' was later? My girlfriend's father wanted to restore one he had but some of the more weird parts ,he said were too hard to find. Did you have trouble getting parts?
Nice set but you have a bit of over scan which may be a vertical lin or height adjust? Also, there is a way to adjust the horiz centering on those sets as I recall.
Bad linearity, lacking horizontal drive, probably needs an output tube, and a good servicing (caps, electrolytics) probably some work done to it for it to operate as these were troublesome, definitely needs an alignment
As a matter of fact this would probably do it for you. But you'd have to really love the 1950's TV experience. www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/homeworx-homeworx-high-definiton-digital-converter-box-hw-150pvr-hw-150pvr/10273439.aspx? I could imagine watching back to the future or Happy days on the Phico. Or maybe some old time baseball games. You could even hook up a ROKU or digital antenna to it. All it needs is an appropriate converter.
